Not defending Witcher 3, but I hope you realize the scope and scale of Witcher 3 is far larger than Uncharted, both in terms of gameplay and narrative. Compare a linear shooter with a linear shooter imo.
Why am I not surprised that this is by the same site who was going to buy Call of Duty
Oh and to be clear. It is not about what I like. I don't care if these games were popular and could co-exist with quality games over completely valid reasoning.
It's when media narrative and people influenced by media try to downplay a game for biased reasons, that I have a problem. Good games thrown on rail tracks for small issues while mediocre games succeeding with looting everyone.
Your entire comment boils down to ignorance to bad practices and lack of taste.
Steves Jobs said it once.
"Consumer tastes are pedestrian"
It shows and it is sad. Not because these things are popular, but because the popularity of these things kills the possibility of good things even existing, because hey who doesn't want more money than they know what to do with.
And I kinda meant that, dumb people having more money.
I don't. I don't play Ubisoft, EA, Activision or any other big name game, I definitely don't buy them. Might get it from some places. I played a bit of Origins, Battlefield, Odyssey and a few others over the last year and was reminded why I don't play them.
And I still had a TON of games to play this gen that I had fun with and didn't have a speck of regret supporting- Witcher 3, Nier: Automata, Dark Souls/Bloodborne, Ori & The Blind Forest, HOLLOW F...
Oh I can name a ton of franchises that are better than Call of Duty and still failed commercially because they don't pander to the lowest common denominator of the crowd.
"Vote with your wallet" proving to be another stupid theory yet again.
After all the stuff Activision has done over the last decade, people still want to support them. That just shows such a theory is pointless with the masses having no taste and more money
All we have is Cyberpunk 2077 rn. Sad that Square Enix didn't give Mankind Divided a chance.
Those aren't stealth games. They are action adventure "Play it your way" games.
Considering their season pass content has the quality and quantity of GOTY contenders, yes.
Hearts of Stone still has one of the best villains in gaming and B&W was an excellently told story, both of which added a minimum of 30-40 hours of quality content to the Witcher universe.
Another PR stint that'll do well in stand up comedy.
These PR talks will do so well in stand up comedy.
If Witcher 3 was an alright game, I would love to hear which games are great according to you.
Thankfully I didn't click.
Saying truths as if this is article is based on actual gameplay. Someone close down this site smh.
If you have played their previous works you would know that the whole "Illusion of choice" is not CDPR's thing. They did it in Witcher 2, they exponentially expanded upon it in Witcher 3.
Illusion of choice? That's the anti-thesis of what Witcher 3 did and rather exactly suits what modern action-adventure RPGs tend to stand for.
Every complain is based off of shitty AAA tropes, not something I would associate with CDPR, rather with Ubisoft, EA and Activision.
Narcissism much?
@opc
AC doesn't even compare. It doesn't have the narrative scale and has checklist side quests. Sure the animations are better, but Origins and Odysse released after W3.
