At least we both agree Aaron Greenberg needs to shut up, LOL.
After that, we'll have to disagree again.
The 360 is at 19 million units after 2.5 years = 7.6m per year
The PS3 is at 13 million units after 1.5 years = 8.6m per year
The Wii is at 24 million units after 1.5 years = 16.0m per year
LOL, keep bragging about selling 900 more units in America while the PS3 continues to beat it by 90,000 units each week worldwide.
Don't take it personal dawg, nobody was trying to "flame" you.
You tried to pass off a bunch of random statements as "fact" and even felt the need to refer to them as "hardcore"....LOL, if anyone is a H.A.T.E.R. the crown is yours sir.
Nothing in your post was very "Factual" or "Hardcore", and just because I pointed that out is no reason to be a "Hater".
The 360 is not "outpacing" anything;
The 360 has sold 19 million units in 2.5 years = 7.6m per year
The PS3 has sold 13 million units in 1.5 years = 8.6m per year
The Wii has sold 24 million units in 1.5 years = 16.0m per year
Tell me again JASON, whom is the 360 outpacing?
Backing up your claims doesn't mean much when your claims are empty.
All that BS about "attach rates", "more games", "reaching 10m units first", "leading market share" that Microsoft likes to spin doesn't fool anyone. Lets break-down your "facts":
"THE 360 HAS HIGHER ATTACH RATES AND MORE GAMES RATED 80+"
-It also been out twice as long. As the Wii and PS3 continue to release their big titles, t...
I agree with you in general, though I disagree with the statement that the 360 has better games now.
No disrespect intended towards "gears", "halo3", "bioshock", "mass effect", "c&c tiberium wars", "halo wars", "gears 2" and such, but they don't exactly provide a tone of variety; they're all sci-fi based games with very similar themes.
But what are the best 360 exclusives that aren't SCI-FI com...
The only thing I disagree with you on is the RPGs.
The 360 is definitely not RPG heavy, and its best asset in that genre (Elder Scrolls) went multiplat. The 360 only has more rpgs than the PS3 right now because of the continued support of the PS2 and the 1 year head start the 360 had.
With all due respect to "Blue Dragon", "Two Worlds", "Eternal Sonata", "Lost Odyssey" and such, they don't hold weight or impact in the RPG commu...
MULTIPLATS:
Grand Theft Auto IV, HL2:Orange Box, Oblivion, Devil May Cry 4, Assassins Creed, Rainbow Six Vegas 1&2, Ghost Recon AW2, Guitar Hero, RockBand, Lost Planet, The Darkness, Fear, Army of Two, The Club, Condemned 2, Turok, Dirt, Burnout Paradise, Kane&Lynch, Unreal Tourneament 3.....
ECLUSIVES:
Uncharted, Warhawk, Resistance FoM, GT5:Prologue, Ratchet&Clank, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, F1 Champ.Ed, MLB:The Show, MotorStorm, Eye o...
I honestly don't see that list changing anyone's mind.
If you've already got a 360 its because you like its lineup.
If you've already got a PS3 its because you like its lineup.
If you've already got a Wii its because you like its lineup.
If you've not purchased a console yet, all the lists look good.
It still comes down to what types of games you like.
The 360 is still going to be sci-fi shooter and online heavy.
The PS3 is still ...
Don't bother with that "same t-shirt for 10 years" crap.
What do you think the Xbox and 360 have been doing with sci-fi shooter combat?
Gears, Halo3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears2, Halo Wars.......
talk about wearing the same t-shirt.
There are exactly 3 titles on the 360 that as a PS3 owner I'm jealous of:
- Mass Effect
- Lost Odyssey
- Bioshock
If any of those hit the PS3 I'll be first in line to grab a copy.
Wasn't the 360's year head start going to kill the PS3?
Wasn't the PS3's hefty pricetag going to kill the PS3?
Wasn't the superior online experience going to kill the PS3?
Wasn't the Master Chief and Halo3 going to kill the PS3?
Wasn't the DH-DVD format going to kill the PS3?
Wasn't the 360's price drop going to kill the PS3?
Yeah, and now what?
You're bragging about winning American sales by 900 units when you're being consistantly beat...
They outsold the PS3 by less than 1,000 units in America......and then got spanked in every other region to the tune of 80-100K.
This Aaron Greenburg bloke is class one git.
Its the Wii and PS3 that have been globally "squeezing" the 360 out since early 2007.
I notice all your comments about graphical differences pertain to sloppy ported multiplats from 3rd party developers.
I also notice you didn't mention anything about PS3 developed games like "Uncharted", "Gran Turismo 5" and "Killzone2".....inte resting.
Just because EA or Ubisoft ported a game and didn't have as much experience with the PS3's structure, doesn't mean the PS3 is graphically inferior.
JASON 360, you sir, FAIL...
To each their own.
The 360 lineup both current and future doesn't interest me nearly as much as the PS3's.
you mean like HD movie player included?
you mean like free online?
you mean like battery packs and charge kits included?
you mean like true media center functionality?
you mean like a solid product that doesn't fail at a 30% clip?
you mean like motion sensing controls from the start?
and sorry, but the "best game lineup" stuff is getting old.
Gran Turismo 5
Final Fantasy XIII
God of War 3
Metal Gear Solid 4 <...
....but if some dude wants to paint a bullseye on his head, so be it.
The real question is how that offended anyone in the first place.
but I disagree with the part about the 360 having a "killer library".
I honestly don't see what the fuss over the 360's games is all about.
Gears, Halo3, and Bioshock right?
But what if I don't like Sci-Fi based games with shooter combat?
What does the 360 offer me then?
The 360 only has "more games" because its been out twice as long.
The PlayStation brand has always been about variety, and the PS3 will be no different.
Seriously, I couldn't have said it better myself.
I too thought of the Sega Dreamcast when they made that statement about "the first to 10 million wins the war".
I also find it amusing because the only reason Microsoft was the first to hit 10 million was because they sold 7 million units prior to the Wii and PS3 arriving by rushing flawed and malfunctioning hardware to market a year early.
Honestly, I don't know what the exact numbers are, because as you already pointed out quite well, these "numbers" don't seem consistant.
To me, the "total console sales" falls into the same category as the "more games" debate; they're both directly related to the 1 year gap.
It doesn't really matter if the current gap is 7 million, or 5 million, the point is that both the Wii and PS3 have outsold the 360 since they arrived in 2007, and ...
Remember when Microsoft said there was no hardware problem?
- they lied, there was a 30% failrate and a $3 billion warranty
Remember when Microsoft said the Falcon chipset would fix things?
- now we've got Jaspers and something beyond that coming
Remember when Microsoft dumped millions into HD-DVD format?
- they lost, and now they'll say downloads are best
Remember when Microsoft said Bluray's victory wasn't important?
- they're n...
