There's nothing drastic or new about it, it's exactly like Shangri La in Far Cry 4.

Ubi should revisit Far Cry. Whatever happened to Jack Carver anyways? The open world stuff they pioneered in FC2 mixed in with all the animal powers and mutated beasts found in the first game would be bad-ass.

Nintendo hasn't known what gamers want since the SNES. Cartridge based N64 which lost important 3rd party exclusive support because of the format? Fail. Gamecube Minidiscs with no 3rd party support, no online multiplayer, and boycotting several M rated games? Fail. Wii, which gave up on competition in the normal games space, was as powerful as an original XBOX, had few good 3rd party games, and sold to more old people who wanted to bowl at home or exercise than gamers? Fail. The Wii U onc...

If XB1 and PS4 both end up utilizing cloud assist well, providing that the necessary infrastructure is there for both companies to take advantage of it, next gen could get pushed a bit farther back. We'll have to see what the cloud can actually do before any real assessment can be made though.

My real fear about short lived consoles this gen is that there won't be enough of a difference in processing power to make a big leap from this gen to next without really expen...

Forge sounds like it is going to be way better than before but I don't want to get my hopes up. The other Forges are really awkwards and time consuming to implement good maps in compared to the Far Cry map editor, my favorite console editor, but I'm happy to see that we can finally group objects, put in lighting and sounds, and change the backgrounds. It should be fun regardless, I just hope it's faster and more intuitive.

jb227, I agree with a lot of what you said, but I wanted to point out that the 360 games are upconverted to 1080p and also feature achievements.

You are right about the extra value in paying for extra features not originally in the PS2 games, but people are not given the choice to play their own PS2 library or buy used versions. Ultimately, that means PS4 owners are being offered another service, like PS Now is also a paid service, instead of a feature like free 360 BC. Since...

So XB1 either keeps a limited set of exclusive genres which doesn't help sell more consoles, or it gets more exclusives with a broader diversity and people just won't buy the software. So what you're implying is...

MS can never do the right thing unless they give up, right? I honestly don't understand the logic around here sometimes...

Christopher, you're right that the part about breaking records for the week of Black Friday was inclusive of more than one element. The part I quoted, however, clearly showed your statement suggesting that breaking records wasn't mentioned with console sales at all was inaccurate.

Len, I think that your NPD data of 1.2 million consoles was for the whole month of November, not the week of Black Friday. I believe at that rate you may be a bit high with your estimate, ...

Crimson, this is exactly why I can't understand people that tend to think that Sony can do no wrong. The fact of the matter is that all companies do things that are shady, and design products to get us hooked in so much that we don't care or refuse to notice their shady practices. It's a consumer-based form of Stockholm Syndrome. I have been labelled a MS fanboy on several occasions, but the truth is that I don't love MS, it's that I personally like Sony less.

I'm really glad as well. While I've never been fond of Kojima's work, as a matter of personal taste, his talent is undeniable and he deserves to be treated fairly. He's a legend being treated like a dog.

OT: Developers should also be behind getting DOA released stateside, because in the long run it's censorship can affect them all if nothing is done to mediate it now.

I agree, but didn't push the agree button because I find it hilarious that 2 people apparently don't agree with you. The voters have spoken... you are NOT having fun. LOL.

Mike Ybarra talked about Challenges in an article (Xbox One Team Looking at Challenges...) linked to DualShockers 12 days ago. In the article, Ybarra also talked about wanting to update the Achievement system as well. It seemed that he was insinuating that Challenges, Achievements, and rewards would somehow be integrated in the future.

I wish I could post links, as it would be much easier, but the XB1 browser still won't let me copy/paste. At least I have a Chat Pad now!...

Interesting. MS just talked about revamping the Achievement system and now we have Allard talking about how much more was planned for them in the first place.

Um, yeah. He's virtually the best player ever. Maybe they should virtually present him with an award. Which player model is made of the most polygons? Maybe he should get into Guiness as well...

This is just plain stupid.

Interesting, I think the fanboys are all getting played. MS owns the domain names microsoft-sony.com and sony-microsoft.com and now they're all buddied up in a photo? I smell a conspiracy, lol.

I hate to be "that guy" but you need to learn how to read. The article clearly states, and I quote, "US Xbox One console sales at retail were up 22 percent over the same time period last year, making it the second biggest Black Friday week in 15 years of Xbox history in the US"

I hate to tell this author, but Just Cause was around a long time before most of the games he likens it to were open world. How ignorant is he that he doesn't know this? Besides, the game is meant to be cliché, like the Expendables movies. Nobody looks at those and goes everything about these movies has been done to death. Review it based on what the series is supposed to be, not what you want it to.
