Let's be real. Sony couldn't be influenced by what MS is doing because they don't have the means to follow suit. Sony has NO CHOICE but to do their own thing, just like MS. MS has the Windows OS, the DX12 API, Cloud infrastructure, and enough cash in their pocket to buy Sony outright. So while Sony may have clout within the industry that MS can't match, MS has other industries that they can integrate into the Xbox brand in order to make the brand larger than the gaming indu...
Concerned about experience quality.
Like I've said before, VR is barely passable at this point and Nintendo knows it. MS knows it too, which is why they are doing more research into how to make the technology work better for people with motion sickness problems. Sony knows it, but they want to sell you on their "PSVR will work well on a vanilla PS4" BS just to they can get you to buy the Neo when disappointment sets in.
Weathers... O_o
That's like saying that Mario Kart was athe sequel to Super Mario.
Jession, true, unless you consider what Konami just said. THAT is the definition of talking out of one's ass.
The question is, "now that Kojima is gone, does Konami really matter anymore if they don't make good games?". Kojima could have been the biggest asshole on the face of the planet, but he was the only good developer left at Konami, and now Konami is looking pretty stupid.
King, that assumption actually makes the least amount of sense. MS said enough times already that there won't be Scorpio exclusives (except VR, of course). As far as development issues go, I would tend to agree though. Cloudgine is being developed alongside CD3, and being the first Cloud enhanced game, MS is poineering uncharted territory. Cloud compute isn't even as viable as VR at the moment.
I want to know how Cloudgine will influence other titles once Cloudgi...
Shin, tell us how you really feel. Sony shows games we won't see for years and they get wild applause. Last Guardian, Final Fantasy 7, Shenmue 3 (kickstarter??? WTF, can't take the risk and fund it like MS did with Tomb Raider and Dead Rising 4?), etc. And who's pretending? MS did only show games at this year's E3 that are coming out soon. If they wanted to, they could have shown any one of the more than dozen unannounced games currently in development.
To quote Vass from Far Cry 3, " Have I ever told you the definition of insanity? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting the same result. Have I ever told you the definition of insanity???"
Because they didn't need to show the destruction again, had 2 consoles to talk about along with games coming out this year, and would rather show the campaign next time we see it? They could have also talked about any one of the 15 games they have yet to announce too, but they obviously didn't need to.
Now that I've guessed, what was your genius idea?
I saw a "first of its' kind" rollercoaster on TV the other day that combined VR into the ride. It matched up the image seen through VR with the ride's natural movement through 3D space. I wonder how that would work out though? Would there be less nausea because the images would match the rides' natural movements? Would you feel like you were flying more than riding? Hell, I'd probably still get sick, but I'd have to try it at least once!
What lies, Goldby? Game Informer, earlier this year had a VR issue with more than 50 pages describing how the games built for VR played. It's obviously mostly shovelware. Canned experiences reminiscent of how 3D cinema just tried to make something pop out at you to make 3D seem cool. RE7, one of the few VR games that isn't gimmicky, and it ends up making people horribly sick. Another, GT Port, doesn't even look as good as PGR3, a launch title for the 360. The technology is b...
Goldby, if someone has a PC, and bought Rift for it, they will enjoy Rift PC exclusives and have the ability to also use it to play XB1 games on an XB1 without a TV, or even in VR on the Scorpio or through Xbox on PC. It doesn't matter how you size it up, because there will always be added value in a headset that works on multiple devices or ecosystems.
What does this say about all the people claiming Battlefront was a native DX12 title? I said it was patched then, and I'll say it again... native DX12 games are still not here yet. Battlefield 1 having an "option" for DX12 is a clear indicator that the game is designed to run on DX11 with some optional DX12 features. AFAIK, Deus Ex will be the first native DX12 game from a 3rd party dev., while Gears 4 will be the first 1st party game with native DX12 support.
Looks Frostbite.
Rift supports cinema mode on XB1. Sorry I didn't clarify it better, but you'll notice I didn't use "VR" in that part of my post. My point there was that someone who buys Rift for PC can still use it on any XB1. If someone wants to get into VR with Scorpio they can do that too without buying another VR headset, which is also nice, but having a headset that works on multiple devices has a distinct advantage over one that remains exclusive.
The other p...
Hate to tell you guys, but Rare approached MS and said that they wanted to focus on the Kinect. MS didn't force them. Rare talked about it in an interview several months ago.
I wonder what Rare is working on now that Sea of Thieves is wrapping up? Personally, I want a Perfect Dark Reboot... open world (even like Hitman/Splinter Cell would be okay), 3rd person.
MS wanted VR done right, you know, so it doesn't look like a PS3 game from 5 years ago (GT Port) or resembles more than just an on rails tech demo before people feel like they're going to puke. I'd rather not get a barely functional, disappointing VR experience on PS4 with a $400 headset, then have to upgrade to Neo just so my headset works with games I'd want it to like Fallout 4. Sony won't care about it though, because they intended to sucker people into buying into ...
Sorry, but there are 20 million XB1's out there, alongside billions of PC's. Rift will work with both, and the value of that added compatibility is something Sony can't match. Porn, as Darth pointed out, has decided entire formats before and will likely be the deciding factor in this instance as well.
PSVR = Betamax, no porn, loser.
Rift = VHS, porn, winner.
The fact that it's linked to N4G as news, and not a rumor, is what I was talking about, not your journalism. Sorry about that!
Virtual Boy was two decades ago. Sega had 3D glasses five years before that. Just saying.
