There's a serious lack of knowledge regarding PC gaming with this article.
a) most gamers don't upgrade every component!!
b) you don't need to buy the very latest product and there's usually some fantastic deals on last gen GPU's etc etc
Graphically yes but it had the addictive gameplay and was cheap, easy to use, instant on.
If you wanted better graphics with a wider genre of games that could also be use for wp, printing etc you could upgrade to an Atari 400/800 (at the time).
Hardly worth calling cordless now!!
DLC bundle is the price of a full new AAA game in UK!
and has about half the content of just one planet area.
I'll PASS
Far Cry 4 is good but it's highlight was the mp map editor which has now been stripped from the game - probably to be sold as a DLC.
Golden age of gaming for me was back in the early 80's with publishers like Synapse, original EA and Activision, Origin (Ultima), First Star, Big 5, and so many other individual and small dev teams - a time of individual creativity and inventiveness through people from all walks of life.
The Return of Heracles by Stuart Smith 1983(Quality Software)is still one of my fav all time games.
I cancelled my pre-order when I found out the mp map editor had been cut out.
If that were the case the next 2 DLC packs would be demonstrating that with new worlds then maybe later the DLC would be more like what is being offered.
Destiny has quite a number of short comings which likely won't be fixed but likely rectified in sequels. I.e. There's lots of different weapons but really no point as in the end there are just a few that everybody uses. Would have been far better to have a reason to get and upgrade them all such as get all the green ...
Yup but what triggers them into behaving like that?
I don't think violent games are the problem but game frustration might be yet another avenue where these changes in behaviour might be triggered. How many gamers get frustrated by the many flaws in competitive games and get into a rage for a short time - what if for a very few, the cool down period starts to take longer and longer - maybe still effecting them when they went to the shops etc
How many tim...
If the game were genuinely CPU bound we would be seeing the PC version ridiculously faster rather than also suffering too.
This is just an easy excuse to divert from the real issue:
Why are these dev teams not creating software to work well within the limits of the hardware,
Will the only solution be that the hardware has to be locked at 1080p 60fps with the result that if they create code that overloads the hardware then their game will phys...
I see 49/100 is half way to neither hate or like it - it's another re-skin but with jumping.
It's shame they've not improved the netcode for more players and a proper server / game browser.
Note this review is for the PC version where server browsers are expected.
I enjoyed playing Destiny for the most part but with the emphasis being on levelling up thru co-op and story missions it comes to an end quite quickly.
Now that's not unusual with fps driven games but generally there's the other part of the game that ends up dominating, the mp competitive arenas and Unlike BF, Quake, UT, CoD etc etc gameplay arenas that have me wanting to play again I don't get this in Destiny and there are so few maps sometimes you can end up pl...
I believe Activision used the hybrid host format with Ghosts. Initially game connections were ok but 3 months down the line and the connections felt quite different with latency issues and a jump in host disconnects, drops suggesting that Activision start cutting the dedicated servers a few months after launch.
The issue of making sure there are enough servers is rather a simple one that was solved on the PC many years ago, gamers, clans can have the option to rent a server ...
Yeah I liked that one too :)
It is oddly addictive, especially with friends.
Just a shame the DLC pricing for Europe and UK is so expensive that it will likely kill a lot of potential sales.
@Th3o
I really can't believe anyone could take my post seriously but you are actually incorrect in your appraisal:
The UK has it's own currency, it does not use the EURO.
Games, DVD's and everything you buy and sell, invisible earnings, services etc make up an economy.
To genuinely calculate the "value" of a minimum wage you must also include the cost of living.
It's important we prop up the US and Euro economy by paying so much more!!
Look at it as the UK gamers including charity donations to these poor 3rd world countries!
It's all about removing the retailer/etailer from the equation.
Unfortunately though what the PC doesn't need is lots of game frontends and stores and we do need competition to keep prices reasonable.
I find EA's Origin solution a total mess having to user a web browser.
It also won't help promote Steam games machines if the major publishers go out of their way not to support it.
How about BREAKOUT then? :)
Tesco decide on their prices not MS, just demonstrates the profit margins there is at the moment in the games industry.
Irrespective, if this price was good enough to get MS the lions share of the market then it's only good for the consumer.
