Sobbing gently in a ditch

People congratulating success purely as they are working for another company isn't childish and cynical...engaging in partisan nonsensical gibberish is (not necessarily accusing you of this).

I see this a lot, for e.g Kevin Fiege at Marvel saying how much he liked the Dark Knight movies by DC.

Nothing wrong with saying something honest that praises your competition.

I fully agree Yi, exceeded my expectations.

Yes, absolutely.

Bigger franchises are less imaginative but the technology has allowed more immersive storytelling and wide ranging genres than ever before.

On disc DLC is nothing to do with the quality of the game, that's money grabbing marketing, not the game itself.

Man does decent thing and praises a good game selling well, hes accused by hardliners of PR or being disingenuous.

If he hadn't have said anything, I bet he would have got "hes just being quiet as Sonys doing so much better and Bloodborne is great".

Basically he cant do anything right, especially when you have the skewed world view of someone who only likes a single console, not games in general.

Honestly if you cant be gracio...

I have this headset and bar its lack of Dolby 5.1, its a comfortable and relatively stylish bit of kit (mic folding up into housing is nice) for the money; one which doesn't have a bazzion wires and doesn't need charging.

The bog standard one hurts my head as the plastic digs into it. How I long for some hair.

Oh and nice to have a positive story for once.

Well written article, always nice to have some self deprecation and sense of perspective on things.

The whole Bloodborne critical reception confused me though. Not that it did well, as it looks like fine game and one that I would be happy if sells(well done devs/Sony)....

...More that after The Order; the whole concept of the traditional review format got trashed by many N4G posters, only to be embraced again when the metacritics scores were sky high for BB. ...

Not usually a fan of this sort of game but looks like a fun title. I am tempted

Well written article.

The one has some serious ground to make up but it's moving in right direction at least.

Think maybe Sony are too far ahead at this stage but that's not to say the one can't have a successful long life.

We need competition. It gives the companys a reason to innovate and keep trying.

The term is fine.

The term 'movies' was used disparaginly but as times moved on and new blood came to accept it as parlance, that died out.

So as future generations age increasingly and teach their kids it's not necessarily an infantile pursuit, the term videogame will lose its stigma.

Basically if your dad, friend, girlfriend think it's sad to game, point them in the direction of things they enjoy which are outsiders would ca...

Its a games console. Hows it looks are about 15th on the list of priorities after its line-up of games, functionality, graphics, etc. It fits in my cabinet, and it works, that's enough for me. It does need a bigger HD though.

The xbox one may be a little big and square but its far from the ugliest console I have seen and although it hasn't done everything right its a fine addition to my console collection.

Who buys a games console based purely on the...

Come on...surely we all know what will happen plot wise. Its like comic books. Iron man fights Cap, Batman fights Superman, etc.

Locke and Chief will start fighting each other, then will reconcile and fight the real enemy in the third act. I have my £5 bet already ;)

Fun teaser anyway, looking forward to it. It better work though and on release too.

Nice article.

I had both and although I played my PSone more (I got through 3 lasers on the damn thing), the N64 felt like a loveable curio with some mental but great ideas (expansion pack anyone?).

N64 had a group of stunning classic games but overall the Psones library was stronger and bigger IMO.

Both great consoles at any rate.

Gaming is doing so well now and multi-platform titles at least seem to be more common than t...

Some games aren't for everyone and sometimes certain genres don't click with people.... that's just way it is. For e.g. I suck at more hardcore racing games but would consider myself a decent gamer with a wide range of tastes and an open mind.

At any rate, the fact he doesn't like it shouldn't impair your enjoyment in any way whatsoever.

But I am pretty sure given the almost universal praise that this game is getting that the odd bad revie...

'That’s what’s kind of cool about being a gamer right now is that, these guys want your business so badly that they’re going to keep coming up with cool stuff.'

I agree with that. Competition is good for everyone.

Before I will say I don't have a PS4 but I am very glad its doing so well. I don't have any affiliation or agenda apart from i like gaming. For example I am glad Bloodborne is getting good reviews and hope it sells well.

Sooo that said, YES, the cut scenes in Hardline are rubbish and too long (as people like Cliffy B posted), no doubt.... but after early sections they improve and get less frequent.

This article conveniently forgets Hardline also has m...

Great game. A sequel not a hd update though please. And hopefully Activision will bother with marketing this one.

The last one was released like an embarrassing fart by them and it deserved better.

Its not a good looking game for sure.

Plus it never really explains why a cop who can see through walls with a smartphone would have such a rubbish taser gun.

;)

Nice article and a different but valid perspective.

Sums it up neatly really, 'delays are the lesser of two evils' but perhaps if deadlines were more realistic (perhaps publishers and developers have a part to play) it wouldn't happen so much.
