Hopes and fears is a series of articles with a title is based on a well known turn of phrase. We were gonna call it 'Hopes and Even Bigger Awesome Hopes With Nary A Sign of Negativity' then we realised it was stupid and not at all catchy.

If you wish to appropriate this as being critical to Sony (even though pretty much only concerns aren't not about UC4's quality but stuff like franchise fatigue going forward) you may do so, as is your right.

Thanks for comment guys.

Bathesda are clearly good Devs but Auomatron does feel short, rushed and nowhere near standard of Broken Steel or even Old World Blues.

Here's hoping Far Harbor is better.

esmitty, I cant say i noticed it when you liberated an area but I could well be wrong.

Taking down bases and taking back towns is by far the best fun in the game, absolutely. Much better than the frankly rubbish campaign.

Jeez. Seriously every time I read the comments on this website a little bit of me dies.

Sceptics article is opinion. His game of year was a ps4 exclusive. That should tell you this isn't about being a fanboy.

Saying something that provokes a reaction is not necessarily click bait. That's term usually bandied about by people when they lack the intelligence or effort to structure a counter argument, to dismiss it out of hand.

How about ...

This is less about Ps4 and more about Fallout 4, if this game had come out in March it would have sold a boat-load.
Its their own fault to release in same week as one of years biggest games.

Cheers Septic.

Its deffo worth a play, especially now there are a dirth of these games on new platforms.

The first act of the story is pretty good but its the later stretches which lose it. It's a story which feels over-simplistic and too complicated at the same time, with huge swathes of unexplained stuff.

It also really wants to have its cake and eat it with one of the returning characters (wont say who).

That said, the core gameplay is still superb, and they have made a lot of progress on a number of issues e.g. making the forerunners a good enemy.

They both owe each other a debt.

UC also originally took its inspiration form lots of other film characters (as doubtlessly did TR). Look at the magazine ads from Naughty Dog for first UC and it name checked its hero with respect to characters like Indy, Ripley Rick from The Mummy, etc.

Thats life, doesn't make either a bad game.

It will sell more and its power is in its quality and the fact it hasn't damaged its brand with too many sequels. IMO

As the article explains, TR has been compared with UC3 as that was the most recent and it's inherently unfair to compare 1 game (Tomb Raider 2013) with 3 games (Uncharted 1-3). It's an attempt at a vaguely scientific method I suppose.

Uncharted 2 is my fave personally but 3 is still great.

Correction. I wrote it, not Septic .....and we usually disagree. Did you read the article? At all?

I own both consoles, have played both games and gave the winner to Sony's exclusive.

In which case please explain how this was bought and paid for by MS.

I partially agree with the article. Having frequented the website but sometimes found myself put off by the behavior of some users its hearts in the right place.

However people need to realise that they themselves created Sarkeesians fame. There's a great Jim Sterling video on this which basically states that peoples over-reaction to her in the first place made her the celeb she is and gave her more credence and weight in the industry.

I.e if idiots had...

It is a masterpiece. The pacing puts many off for sure but its a beautiful, grown-up, fun and well-written sandbox game.

Finally a moderate opinion. Hooray for you sir, have a biscuit!

Perhaps they can portion off each mission off to a different carbonated drink manufacturer so you have to buy a fridge worth to make up the full game?

(To supplement the $60 disc with no content on it of course)

;)

On the scale of how big a deal is it, its somewhere between hamster and medium cat sized. I.e. not a big deal.

Doubt they will catch up now but no reason they cant close the gap. If they could catch up, it will take more than one year for sure.

The line-up looks good for the next year or so the One will probably have a good year. Of course the PS4 line-up also looks strong in 2016 so it will also keep selling well.

The fact both consoles are selling well is good news, means either company doesn't get complacent.

I'm not even convinced this is a big deal, sorry. Didn't we always know it was going to be a timed exclusive only?

Aside from fact the One release is ill-timed and going against Fallout will really hurt its sales (should really have been Q1/2 2016), like many have said its just to avoid Uncharted.

When it arrives in Q4 next year, buy it or don't, its that easy. Sonys honour doesnt need defending.... they are an extremely successful company and ar...

I always thought it was the fact that PS3 was a powerful machine but slightly trickier to code for given its architecture. It simply may not be worse the hassle.

I'm not sure the 360 version is fully necessary to be honest, but appreciate some people haven't made leap yet.

I could be wrong.

P.s I do have a PS3.
