For this game, Im going to focus more on the actual write ups of the review than the numerical score.
Numerical scores now are flawed when there is a game with hype. Period.
So you have to read it to see if they have addressed the issues with the first game. ALl the interviews say they have, but we shall see.
Yes, the reviewers are too "nice".
If a game has enough hype and even half way delivers it is above an 8 and probably higher than that. And if any game is below an 8 holy sheet, you can almost bet the farm that the game is a real stinker.
What is the real shame here is that fanboys, and lets call them what they are, these children (15-20 seem to be the most vocal), and use these reviews to validate their own choice.
Its become a pissing...
This game deserves every ounce of praise it gets.
For the above poster about it "cutting in on your UC2" time, chances are very high you will begin to think UC2 cuts into your Demon's Souls times.
This game is easily my favorite this year, and probably this generation.
It's brilliant.
RIP Squaresoft. :(
On another note, I would be curious to see the average age of a multiplayer person for console games divided by genere as opposed to those who play the same console but don't play multiplayer.
Im willing to be percentage wise that there are many more younger people playing multiplayer than older.
This is why I don't play multiplayer.
So Transformers 2 is the best movie ever made?
More people bought tickets, thus more people like it.
You are an idiot.
Sales are only one indicator of what should be contended as game of the year.
I like to think the GOTY is a game that pushes all limits of gaming. Graphics, sound, score, gameplay, innovation, presentation, fun are but to name a few factors to consider.
Further, I don't understand the infactuation ...
This game is my personal game GOTY, and probably my favorite of this generation so far.
Don't get me wrong, I loved UC2, but this game got in my head like few have since the SNES days.
Perhaps this is true, but you know what? It doesn't matter in the slightest.
MW2 sales are incredible, and many gamers, who tend to be 360 but perhaps Im being too general, will scream that this is the best gave evar! In general, and again just a vauge observation, ps3 owners demand higher quality in a game then just a game "being fun". Reviewers, unfortunately, hold the ps3 to that same standard of quality, while the 360 can just get away with being "fun&quo...
Ya know, it is kinda interesting this philosophical distinction between a video game and a movie.
As for the fun element in regards to movies and games. Would you not go see Paranormial Activity if you didnt think on some level you would enjoy the experience? Or watch some other horror or exteremly violent movie? People watch these movies because they enjoy it on some level.
Same with video games.
The difference between the two is the level of ...
There is just a higher standard for Sony. That's all.
A ps3 exclusive must be, innovate, few if any bugs, fun to play, presented very well, push the industry into something new and be perfect right out of the box.
A multiplat or Xbox game must be, "Really fun to play!@#$"
RIP Squaresoft. :(
I have other games to play.
I hate multiplayer and FPS's. When this game is barely more than a multiplayer game, I will pass.
CAPT IRISH:
Im with you.
I have never cared for FPS's or multiplayer.
Since this is basically a Multiplayer FPS, I will pass.
Tell that to the people that review ps3 exclusives.
It is a solid, no risk taking, traditional and great RPG.
You can't hear that music and not smile.
I think you are more limited in what you can do artistically. Like weapons for instance.
Just a thought though.
This is exactly correct.
Bingo.
Unforunately, the games that attempt to tackle what would be "Best Picture" stuff don't sell as well as the MW2, Halo's, Uncharted 2's and the like. And further around the web the fanboys/idiots will say the game fails because it doesn't sell a bazillion copies.
Then again, neither do the "Best Picture" nominees...Take for instance Transformers 2...sold more tickets not near as quality as any Best Picture nominee.
Yes...
