"Much like casual games, Call of Duty has also helped usher in a new audience of gamer. You’ll find everyone from the hardest of hardcore gamers to those who own an Xbox strictly to play Black Ops online sharing the same space within matches in Call of Duty. And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, it’s Call of Duty’s widespread appeal that has, in a way, helped to further legitimize gaming as a viable form of entertainment. Think about it; where gaming used to be a v...
Site won't load for me at home, keeps giving a 404 error
If the QA spent time and effort to patching games day 1 patches wouldn't exist. I understand some companies and games there will be some glitches/fixes that are not going to be caught easily, however a few games do prove there is people who test down to the T to make sure games are at least 99% fixed before release date. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Batman Arkham Asylum are big examples of positive QA testing.
Usually if a game has a day 1 patch, that alone makes me lose confidence in a game I'm playing; I like the idea patches do help fix gameplay, however it makes me question the QA dept.
I remember back when I was 16 (when it first came out in 98) and I had my ideas Master was the enemy or helped them however I still played through the game because it was that fun. I also remember the whole Deepthroat/Gray Fox fiasco and how it ended at the end.
I remember when Gears of War first came out, and we (offline co op) the entire game under 3 hours, and the guy spent $60 on it.
CoD 4 I remember the hype around that, spent $60 to beat it in one day.
Killzone 2 (although fun) took about 13 hours to complete first play through.
Now something like Fallout 3/New Vegas, those I'd spend a minimum of 40+ hours and that's just leveling and side quests.
Borderlands 1/2 same t...
I bought the PS3 for its games, not eye candy; and I'm not disappointed.
Not that I agree or disagree with your comment, however I did ask a few die hard CoD fans and their reason for playing CoD is how easy it is to pick up and play; not because of its replay value or how boring other games get. A few actually bought CoD just because they can "Troll" other players and youtube the results.
*SPOILER*
I'd put Master Miller from MGS, to this day I still vote that as my #1 all time plot twist in any video game
*END SPOILER*
There's a difference between complaining to make a product/service better, and complaining just to join in the bandwagon.
Most people are whining just to whine, I bet most of the crybabies either don't own a PS3 or probably use it for netflix/youtube only.
Slow news day, and grasping at straws at this point
I had the same theory myself; spend more time picking faults and some sort of "oh my god I'm offended" situation than actually playing the game how it should be played. I'm not trying to offend anyone, however it bugs me when someone screams somethings offensive when the "how" isn't really explained correctly - "Oh Allah is used, that's offensive" rather than (just an example) "Allah's tomb" or something along those lines.
My 2 biggest gripes of multiplayer is the kids who curse and trash talk when mom/dad isn't around; and people who join a game thinking they're going to get something out of it, and whine/rage quit when you don't do what THEY want, even after explaining what the plan is at that moment.
The article does make some valid points when regarding to play at your own pace and to basically have fun; some people treat online like a second job, hence why I left Final Fantasy ...

Most of the games I've put in my top lists have junk graphics however fun as hell to play.
I'm glad its separate with it's own story; more of a tie-in for story than just tacked on.

Backtracking - Go to point A, beat boss, get item. Go back to town, only to find out you "forgot" something and have to go back there again. After 4-5 trips the NPC you talked to was "kidnapped" or "disappeared" and you have to go there AGAIN to rescue them.
