I like the idea it's an "option" not a "requirement"
I'm up for renewal soon, and will not hesitate to get another year of +
I've actually cut back gaming this gen, and even started up some older games to remind myself where gaming came from, and when the quality of gaming started going south. I can play GTA San Andreas/Vice City a lot more than I can GTA 4; because it was more focused on having fun, as well as proving games can tell a story just as good as a Hollywood film if not better.
That's actually the worse part of this gen; a patch should be for something that wasn't caught during testing and should be a "sorry we didn't see that" fix; now games are released broken just to meet street dates, THEN patches come later. What really pisses me off and lose confidence in a company is day 1 patches that's 20+ MB when the game should have been fixed to begin with. I understand some games have online/multiplayer patches installed on street dates to pr...
I still say common sense in gaming died in 2005
I also say this is the worse gaming gen; biggest reason #1, when a collector in the future buys one of our games, the servers will be down/defunct and can't get access to any updates, patches, etc.
Also this DLC craze is only making it harder for people to buy new games since some "super hyper turbo" version comes out later with everything for 1/3 of the price.
So I'm not the only one who thought of that...
I still have some games I have yet to even crack open that I bought/downloaded back earlier this year; them taking their time to make the game is released with a low number of issues is perfectly ok with me.
The "option" can be there to make the game easier, and I'll never get why people would not welcome an option to play any game on any difficulty; just because a game is marketed as "tough" doesn't mean it's ok to knock someone to make it more fun for them to tone down the difficulty. If anything I'd welcome to the easy mode to get through the game for the story, then play harder to get whatever was missed the first time; kind of like an added challenge.
I noticed the opposite on my 50 connection through Mediacom Cable; on PSN I downloaded Farcry 2 under 15 min; on Live I remember downloading Triggerheart Excellia (sp) and it took minimum 30+ minutes. Both were downloaded early in the morning while people were at school/work
"Even if these were to be sold as DLC, the game offers 50 ish characters on the disc, playable. That's more than any Tekken game ever has."
Tekken Tag back in 1999 only missed Marshal Law, Dr Bosconovich and Gon; same on the PS2 version. Just because a game has 50+ characters doesn't write off its "ok" because of a big roster.
Strider Hiryu
Noob Saibot
I'd say SNES/Genesis is golden age, ps1 was the twilight (no pun) years
Oh I know some people like that as well, they "think" they're saving money but end up spending more because they have that false security of having more $ for other things.
Normally the ones who bootleg just to save $ end up not even knowing what they like themselves; they bootleg just to say "I have a collection" but don't even know half of what they have.
The question is "why pirate" more than just saying "stop it."
Most of the people I know who bootleg games is there's no demo's for what they play; yes some games do have a demo but not all games. There's sometimes you can't even borrow certain games due to DRM and/or other reasons; and "playing on someones acct" doesn't always work either. Also some games print minimum/recommended specs however without actually testing the s...
I remember being a part of the Socom Confrontation beta, and it was the exact same game released a month later. Granted it was Slant 6, and later the trophy patch came out to help boost player participation, however I hope this company puts in the effort to make it more stable before release.
Killer Instinct
Conker
Goldeneye
Those are my 3
I'm in the same boat with the article - It's ok to have violence, bad language, etc. but as soon as you see either a guys thing or a topless woman, "OMG ban this game!!!!!111!!"
Honestly they need a separate category for AO (Adult Only) or at least M; verify being 18+, and have access to that kind of content - and stop trying to "police" your customers.
The Skyrim fiasco made me think twice about buying their next Fallout game
How about Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter like we asked back in the 90's?
*Loads up Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis*
I'll stick to classic gaming until they release games that actually interest me instead of just releasing games they "think" people will like.
*Edit* And yes as of late I've been revisiting my older PS1/2 collection more than playing newer games? Why? Because there's this thing called "Talent" that died back in 2005/6.
Whoever the author is, NiGHTS into Dreams came out on SATURN not DREAMCAST
