The question right now is now is how long are we waiting to see the fruits of these acquisitions. How many years out are these games? And will they be good?

On paper, this sounds great. 23 studios could have awesome output down the line. But this didn't truly fix Xbox issue for the immediate future.

Companies, publishers, and developers have to want to be purchased. I don't think it is quite as simple as some think. Even Grubb exposed that Bethesda was in trouble due to numerous big budget projects underperformed. So essentially, Microsoft saved Bethesda from a eventual demise, and possibly Zenimax.

Lines will be drawn in the sand i feel, and it will be an arms race of exclusivity. Because that is what helps make your platform more attractive and gives it identit...

This is a big industry move, but so many Bethesda ip were underperforming and MS has a great relationship with them. This move made a lot sense.

GP is a buffet of cheap games or old games, that doubles as a graveyard for failed and low quality ideas.

I think Sony should expand and cultivate their studios. Make acquisitions where it fits. Finally seal the deal with House Marque and Blue point. Then give me Level 5, Kojima, From or Platinum

From rewatching and getting a grasp of the description of collection, this is similar to instant game collection when they first introduced plus to ps3. Basically you get this collection for the ps5 and they are all enhanced BC games. I think this is more of one time deal. It doesn't seem intended to compete with GP.

I expect advancements to PS Now, but they won't do day and date. For the amount of investment into the games, I can't visualize it being worth th...

This upcoming generation has such odd takes when it comes to BC. Like, screw new games for a new generation. It is more important to play games even older than this generation. No remake and give me kind of irrelevant upgrades galore. I need to play them old games!

I think current gen was undeniably important to get BC imo, but older than this generation is just a nice to have not need to have. While I say current gen BC is very important, it doesn't supersede the impor...

@VsAssassin

Yea i can understand the pain of discussing this game. Sides for or against Naughty Dog, have insufferable peeps screaming at you if your opinion is different from their own. Different strokes for different folks. They cannot respect that fact.

But yea, regardless of the feeling of the story, the amount of love and attention they payed to this game was on another level. And a lot of detractors try to shit on that, which is just disrespectful t...

While the perspective and opinion of TLOU2 narrative and story beats are subjective, the amount of love and quality that went into that game is undeniable. Their attention to detail and care to mundane atmospheric touches, the attention to sound, the voice work for missable and moments, that game was made with love.

The story is challenging and whether it vibed with you or not, Druckman didn't do it half heartedly. Yes opinions could have very well influenced it, and th...

This is an interesting point. Are they comparing theoretical speed or comparing average speeds. Theoretically, the PS5 drive can handle 22 GB/s in indeal conditions according to Cerny's deep dive.

Haha, I thought that exact thing with all the "anti consumer" cries. It is anti consumer to deliver a low quality product for the sake of awider consumer pool. Ideally, a company should strive to deliver the best product worth the value.

I'm glad someone from DF manned up and told the truth. Crossgen is holding devs back and both their points contend against the idea that it doesn't. Battaglia's defense of "lighting" for Halo:I really made m...

Oh wow, you have to be writing this for satire. What the hell is Horizon and Demon Souls? They have only had one show so they likely have more mature titles coming down the pipe.

Not to mention TLOU2. Possibly the most mature game currently. Naughty Dog just released it, undoubtedly getting a next gen upgrade. Their game likely is not ready to be shown.

And then you have SuckerPunch (Ghosts), Santa Monica, Guerilla, Bend, and Insomniac.

That is fascinating. Considering the majority of devs have been praising next gen adoption of ssd, i think you're Scorn dev. Then I find the statement of the difference being down to diminishing returns equally fascinating.

GPU: 15-18% difference = Massive delta
SSD and I:O: 150+% difference = Neglible, Diminishing returns.

Sigh...

As many have mentioned, I doubt the game would have existed if not for Sony. This game has been in development for numerous years. Who back then would have allowed it aside Sony, and stuck it out and waited for this to blossom?

Now it coming to PC is a possible next step, since it has been rumored by credible sources and going by Sony's new strategy of leaning into pc for certain titles. If the game get MnK support, it might be a lock.

I'm disap...

Very reasonable outlook.

He's been with the company for 25 years, so the possibility of him wanting a change in routine and/or got a much better offer than what Sony willing to offer. This likely is the case for a number of their larger figureheads that left. Infighting and disagreements with current leadership could be a factor as well. The impact we won't know until seeing the direction of Sony proceeding after ps5.

A large part of why Sony being so sc...

It is unsettling though. I hope things can change because a large part of it is due to perfectionism and some mismanagement. I do not want to see this studio eat itself, bleeding and burning out talent.

Looks like crunch is in tandem with monolithic projects. Red dead, Witcher, cyberpunk... all of them were born from it. Last of us is the latest victim, and schreier is just going to work on his latest scoop.

Looking forward to it regardless, but I hope Naught...

Ah I see what you're saying. 8.2 million players is vague. Could be rentals, could be used, could be borrowed, could be new.

Vague 8.2 million number. Could be borrowed, new, used, or rented. Either way, good stats, though it isn't fair to slam MS for throwing but not give Sony that same energy.

If by chance they revived the idea of Fuze, then it would likely be the original concept, Overstrike. That definitely screamed Insomniac DNA

Absolutely I agree. The current state of affairs demands it because if we don't reward good practices, companies are only going to interpreted as we don't care and just keep doing the bad practices that they have been. It is a sad situation but unfortunately is something we have to deal with.
