@Tquila

If there was outrage during the ps3 gen, it was very mute compared to now. "This lost of games" has been happening since the original Nintendo lol. Even before that. So again, why isn't some of the preservation responsibility on the hobbyist as well?

Hell, even with you bringing up Xbox, I ask why? I have the Duke and near 100 games. How many work on BC? There were near 1000 games in total lol. What about 360? Which I have as well...

They are trying, but they haven't remastered all of them. And for the ones remastered, what have they done, which a large amount of gamers are against? Sell the remasters or remakes for a profit. Cleopatra from 1963 I had to use library at UM for a project in 2018. Until very recently, that was the only way I could find it. Now they are charging for it on Vudu, YouTube, etc...

As for a library, this again is an entity outside the manufac...

Most people on N4G? I'll speak for myself and likely get down voted for it But I have to ask for those so concerned about game preservation. When did the responsibility of preservation totally shift away from the hobbyist? Movie Studios don't preserve every single movie. They have been often lost on VHS and Film. So movie buffs bought the hardware and preserved it themselves .

Not every book has been digitized. Some are preserved by individuals or libraries, some ...

Honestly, I think you are screaming into void unfortunately. They've more or less had the same stance during ps4 gen when there was an uproar about BC because of X1 investment into it. It didn't make any impact against the ps4.

You hit it on the head about their stance on BC. They likely don't want to invest on into BC going that far back because the people utilizing are such a minority that it is laughable.

But possibly my largest peeve with...

@ SDuck

He's voicing that opinion due to the game winning all those awards. Otherwise there is no reason to say that no one can change his mind. He was triggered the game winning that and other awards.

I'd recommend him just to move on.

This is a horrible take lmfao. It has more readers choice awards in general than both its predecessor and other games in general lmao. Even bringing up VGAs is hilarious because it still came down to Ghosts or TLOU2. You can take out Bafta, and still have PSBlog, Golden Joysticks, Metacritic voted, etc.. You didn't like it, you hated it... fine. But the majority of the core and hardcore that would vote on these sites, actually did. It is what it is.

Pretty much. I think it is the most audience voted going by the gameawards.net aggregate. It is something funny to observe, even with the numerous vocals trying to tear it down.

This acquisition has so many layers to it. Playstation is the home for majority of fighting games and is the most prevalent machine at competitive fighting game events. So this is more of a gaming culture play, especially with the tie ins with anime. Sony is harmonizing anime culture with fighting gaming.

Then EVO itself. 2020 was the perfect storm to kill EVO and EVO Japan. Sexual misconduct allegations against TOs and various pros, the founder and CEO of EVO being disco...

Not to be a downer, but what are the bases from these percentages. Knowing numbers would be helpful to make the percentage increases make more sense. We don't know concurrent users, so what are they playing 30% more than. Are they saying 18 million users are playing 30% more games? If that is the case, wouldn't the gp games decorate their most played.

This is a vague metric without solid numbers. But congrats MS if these percentages are so successful

Yea, many overlook the importance of architecture and how the parts interact with the system. With him being as candid about S, why didn't he say anything negative about PS5? He greatly compliments both SeriesX and PS5. And goes further to say architecture and tools are far more important than Teraflops. Lol, and speaking strictly on flops, it is a roughly 14-16% difference. The cpu difference is much less. But the ps5 has some customizations such as cache Scrubbers, that minimizes stre...

Did you watch the interview? He stated that the multiplats are all built off of LCD, and just are enhanced for higher end platforms. The lower the platforms, the more compromised the platforms are on a more fundamental level. That's why he seemed irritated with people arguing that tweaking settings are all you have to do.

In reality, the games have to run on Series S, so certain design decisions cannot be as ambitious. This isn't about toolset. This about fundamen...

Well scalability argument takes another hit. I guess Playstation exclusives can give a taste of the tech. It's a shame that ps5/XsX multiplats are potentially held back by Series S.

Lmao, one of top selling games in 2020 according to NPDs. Won umpteen awards lol, including the most audience/reader voted awards, they haven't suffered from this whatsoever. We they finally add mp and do an upgrade, the legs will greatly extend. I really don't understand the notion of wasted potential. The game came 9 months ago, sold like God, will likely have a massive sales boost when the MP and upgrade come out, and won the most awards to date. The only sabotage to brand from ...

I'm noticing from reading these charts and Sony's announcements, that many in the comment section bring up supply constraints as the reason PS5 is outselling Xbox, but both are suffering supply constraints since launch. The manufacturers will create what they can, that's a given. But they only manufacture to demand as well to avoid surplus stock.

Petty much these estimates, whether under or over, have been week to week numbers. At what point are both manufa...

I honestly wish you can edit for additional info and corrections beyond the 15 minute mark. I meant to say "he didn't understand the outcry of ps1 and ps2 BC"
I know many want ps3 BC, but it seems like it far more effort than the return.
I just thought to add the article and quote:
“When we’ve dabbled with backwards compatibility, I can say it is one of those features that is much requested, but not actually used much,” said Ryan.

Lmfao, the quote about playing old games was referring to ps2 and ps1 games because they look "ancient". A number of people complain Jim Ryan about his personality, but he gave you his candid opinion. He was making that statement comparing them to the visual fidelity of GT1 on ps1 and 2 to ps4 games. He doesn't buy into the novelty of bc games going that far back. That's why there aren't even that many ps1 and ps2 games for download or stream. You can get PS Now to play...

Damn it is certainly living up and only will get better as more development advances. I look forward to when they finally unlock the expansion bay and archiving, because the smaller file sizes. Man you're gonna be able to store so many damn games.

Lol, just gotta get a SeriesX down the line pretty much. That's fine. Thankfully, we are finally past "exclusives are anticonsumer " or "exclusives are counter to what gaming is about". Literally the way that the game industry has been working for decades.

But now Series X has cemented another genre for its base. I may scoop it up down the line when those games arrive.

You forgot another: low production sandboxes with unnecessary padding.

Agreed on general sentiment. Fun gameplay is subjective, but typically cinematic games boils down to games with high production values and semblance of great story. They represent such a small portion of current games.

I certainly don't think so. The mileage may vary on gameplay impressions and fun factor, but they are honestly more rare in grand scheme.
