The headline cracks me up again. But at least the comparison makes much more sense to me than their gpu comparison. The performance was supposed to be XsX claim to fame, s why not compare with SeriesX instead.
But isn't the speed put forth the same as what Cerny suggested to brute force equivalent speed and efficiency? And isn't the IO architecture of PS5 what allows for ps5 to hit it peak speeds of data transfer?
That strategy is fairly typical of them. The thing is, why announce it without clarifying what exclusivity is there? I surmise it is to entice people to buy the system on promises of games years out potentially.
The other objective is more or less what is happening in comment sections and articles like these. To reveal it this early despite being so vague about details, it seems was intended to headline grab. They don't need to tell us about it, so why tell us about it...

This is comparison video for ps5 vs pc for ACV. They compared settings that ps5 were essentially toggled which derived from PC and made their estimation.
But it was odd to me that XSX wasn't the first choice since it is claimed to be the stronger between the consoles. Or at least do one for Series X as well.
30% more being much faster gaming performance is a bit of an over statement. Definitely faster though. But immediately, what I find so hilarious about this comment and I noticed this with channels like Gamer Nexus and even Digital Foundry to an extent, why aren't they comparing performance with XsX? That was supposed to be the titan of performance between the two consoles. I noticed this when DF did a comparison for ACV on ps5 vs pc, but didn't do one for xsx vs pc.
I think we should be. But if DF stopped doing these, honestly their content output would significantly drop, right along with their viewership.
The multiplats are on par, with the the majority having additional performance advantages on the PS5. It is what it is. The results are comical because of all the BS spewed before hand. Guess the new battle lies with the exclusives.
And side note, these load times are disappointing. Im glad I'm not absorbed t...
Honestly, this game looks rough. I know it is a indie studio, so my criticism is going to be somewhat restrained. But God, the animations are pretty janky, and movement looks stiff as hell. And the fps looks sub 20-25, especially when the world split. The story and mechanics seem interesting, but I hope that is polished by launch at the end of the month.
That's the irony. Celebrating Switch success because it is outselling the ps4 sales aligned, though ps4 is still far ahead by total sales. But when they are obviously communicating the ps5 is doing the same to Switch, there is a issue.
I agree with the sentiment that the 1st party will flex and tap into the hardware. That's why the load time optimizations have been insane on PS5's 1st party game, something many detractors try to dismiss. Ratchet is Sony's testament that the SSD/IO goes far beyond simply boosting load times.
I think the "too early" assessment i don't so much buy. The ps4 showed its advantage out the gate. It carried throughout the gen, only minimizing with time an...
@Razzer
Honestly bro, I imagine in 3 years if the ps5 still outperforms xsx, the tools haven't matured enough still. I honestly think gamers don't really believe in architectural design differences allowing that power to be harnessed and utilized efficiently. I whole heartedly believe that the ps5 was better architecturally designed. It is being showcased with game performance. The tools excuse is old and the developers having to get used to the hardware is misguid...
@Razzer
That confuses me as well. The GDK is intended to scale up and down from PC. From what I am aware of, devs aren't having issues on PC RDNA 2s. These newer multiplats are using some features. NX gamer even identified VRS usage in Dirt 5 when he did his analysis. This is an RDNA 2 feature, isn't it?
@Retrouk
I think they forget that Tflops are theoretical performance under ideal conditions maximized by how the architecture is designed. While they have some similar parts, their overall architecture is different. CPU differences on paper are insignificant and is maximized via the architecture.
While the patch for Dirt 5 did bring it on par visually for frame rate mode, will that be for free? We have to find out when updated analysis surfaces. And Se...
Lol, honestly most of the ps doods don't gaf about this. It is just funny serving crow after the bullshit served by Xbox marketing and the fanboys screeching about the power narrative for months. And all the excuses now that things are panning out this way..
Now its on par, still contrary to what has been preached. So the trolling will likely continue tbh, just for giggles. It's childish i know, but it's fun in the comment section
@Shiken
Highlighting one without the other wasn't my intention. I'm not an Xbox gamer, so I am legitimately forgot them. I was mentioning the games the article neglected to mention for PS5. There could be more I'm missing, but those were immediately in my memory.
The article mentioned for Xbox Medium and Stalker 2. Rare doesn't even know what they're making, so realistically it isnt coming in 2021, and I don't think it was even imp...
I thought this was talking general 2021 line up?
Because that article was missing some known titles like Grant Turismo 7, Kena, Destruction AS, and Ghost Wire, perhaps even FF16
While people are defending this title due to its ambition, let's be serious guys. Bringing RDR 2, let alone any other open world, game for comparison is unnecessary. Comparing the polish of other games are unnecessary.
CDPR didn't build the game around the ps4/x1 limitations. Rockstar was smarter with RDR2 because they built around the limits of the consoles. The same with a lot of Sony's devs when they built their games around the weak Jaguars cpus that are ev...
@Tacoboto
Honestly they have been sacrificing to get similar or slightly better frames. More than just resolution. Have you seen NX gamer's Dirt 5 comparison? Lower to no tesselation, lower shadows, far less foliage, lower car detail. All in exchange for a few more frames on average and slightly higher resolution on average in 120fps mode.
@Everone else
Out the gate, ps4 outperformed x1. Out the gate, X1X outperformed the PRO.
Guys,...
@LucasRuined
All it takes is simple wording changes if that is the case.
"Series X gameplay debut"
Just calling it the gameplay debut is odd because it has already been showcased.
Cyberpunk showcased console gameplay recently and they specified it to whichever platform.
What confuse me about these articles is why can't you get PS Now? Bargain gaming right there lmao. I look forward to the replies
I wonder at what point will we get bored of this. Admittedly, the differences are so small that usually it wouldn't matter. But damn did Xbox own marketing teams, certain journos (Warren comes to mind), and their tribe constantly drumming for months about a massive gulf.
And the damage control has been laughable and only keeping the wound open. They just gotta take that L
This has been such an interesting saga. I was watching a 40 min compilation of the various interviews, quotes, and demo cuts collected over the years, and fuck did they overpromise the moon for this game.
The upper management knew the last gen versions were bad, but pushed for Dec release to maximize profit. They wanted that sweet holiday rush, so they not only did not want to delay it all together, they did not want to delay console versions for a port.
