No, they're not. Launching with your biggest franchise or secret weapon is not normally the best idea. PS4 could have Metal Gear Solid 5 on it day one and success will still be limited. At launch their are always barriers like supply+ high pricing+ people still finding value from the systems they own currently. The bump mapping and displacement on the rocks look beyond this gen though. Not by a long mile, but enough for me to confident that the PS3 version won't look like this. The fact it was being off on a PC made it obvious that Kojima intended as a cross gen title and showing it off as a current game is misleading in my opinion.

I honestly think all the big ps3 titles being released this year should receive an enhanced digital version at the ps4's launch. Essentially a port of the PC versions, this and GTA5 included.

The ps4 is not shipping 16m units between its "holiday 2013 release" and december 31st. Unless they don't intend to replenish stock for the whole of 2014, which obviously is not the case lol
They must be referring to another system besides microsofts which has yet to be officially unveiled. My guess is the steambox, I can't imagine anyone else trying to enter the console space at a time like this and logic says they're not talking about the Wii U otherwise they would have specified.

Stop being ridiculous. If it was coming for the wii U they would have specified it, just as they did for the ps4 version. Obviously they are not allowed to expose Microsoft next system so they say "PS4 and other next gen consoles". The only hope you have is that the plural in "consoles" means they are considering the Wii U but its probably just a typo, because again... why would they specify PC and PS4 but not Wii U??

The gameplay will likely mimic Dragons Dogma which had some of the most cinematic combat ever seen in an open world RPG. Hopefully they just improve upon the story and generic world.
@aphatauri, I've already seen next gen launch games that are well above AC3 on PC. To call the PC version Identical is definitely an exaggeration but its clearly a console game ported to PC. WIth the arrival of the ps4, they'll definitely spend more resources optimising the game.
The game will obviously be better looking and probably perform smoother then anything on current systems, so its still worthy of a next gen release.
Improved graphics isn't worth them delaying the game by a whole year and this probably began development as a PC exclusive before next gen devkits were out. Also some people play games for the enjoyment not just to show off their shiny new system.
To me this looks cross gen to me, but lets see how it plays.

Anyone expecting the detail we saw in the old man demo to be present in the 1st or even 2nd gen of ps4 titles is delusional. Unless Quantum Dreams has a ps4 title deep in production, obviously the fact their games are interactive movies allows a lot more detail on characters compared to games featuring fully explorable world and levels.
So why is it so popular to troll Crysis 3 at the moment? Its gameplay is no more stagnant then 99% of all the other AAA titles being released. Its a solid FPS.
I hope people treat GOW the same when its released, based off the single player demo its the exact same game we've been playing since 2005, just with shinier graphics.

Crysis is an actual game you can play now, the detail seen in demo probably won't find itself in any games released in near future.
Also that character just has creepy eyes. Other models in the game compare more facourably
