"i'm not that tech savvy but what would be the point in using this feature visually at it's lowest setting.
if there are missing objects in the reflections of what use is the feature? "
as conflicting as this statement seems this is actually why i have yet to invest on any current hardware. the feature makes more sense and shows it's worth on it's highest setting. we will likely see it's value and purpose through later hardware release...
DF suggested this was using selective ray-tracing. never heard of it.
https://youtu.be/Azl772uylh...
ray-tracing is rendered in passes. on first pass some distant objects are missing in reflections.

on second and third pass the drawing distance is increased.
something tells me the...
i have a pretty big selection built up on steam, Uplay, origin and now Epic.
but as long as i can play my selection of games i don't really care where i get them from.
"It doesn’t matter if PC has faster SSDs or not because until it becomes the standard and every PC has one you’ll have to account for HDDs."
that's not how pc gaming works though. the original Crysis 2007 released in full scale from.
it was not downgraded because of gamers failing to have a $2,000 gaming rig.
in the pc gaming community all games are released in their full form. from there they can scale back to any gaming pc.
PC already has faster SSDs though
the Samsung 980 pro already does 6.5GB/s

and the XPG Sage already does 7GB/s

you'ed probably disagree with named titles even if they were mentioned. or if Death Stranding at 60fps on pc means anything to you which is Decima engine's currently released title. or if glorified rain drops at 30fps and at the cost of linear gameplay is more important to you than open world + environment destruction at 60fps in FH4 on PC that is your opinion. but like i said even if i gave you better examples you'ed probably disagree with it.

"How are people saying this looks good? CGI trailers turn you on"
this looks to be in-engine though. you can clearly tell Harley's hair is still rendered in hair cards with some low poly bends as it moves. http://i.picpar.com/YhQe.pn...
even the FFVII remake offered more polys for hair.

so i got a chance to play this on a decent gaming pc. (GTX1660 super edition tested)
1440p with some settings set to Ultra, other settings can be tweaked even higher. my performance results so far were a lot higher than anticipated. a lot closer to 60 fps. hair physics seems to be working but is not synced to in game performance.

it is a disservice no doubt to pc gamers that bought into believing the brand name always delivers on quality.
all that it means is that no company can fully deliver on day one these days. and this will unlikely gain the trust of pc gamers buying into their brand based on day one quality.
the game will receive a patch fixing it's major bugs and performance dips.
https://wccftech.com/first-...
i'm guessing the Decima engine was built for 30 fps. or at least the earliest revisions of it. i can also recall Until Dawn having performance dips from the first time i played it. it's nothing that a patch couldn't fix though. so we'll just have to wait an...
(mixed reception overall.)
Dissection -
right off the bat the pc version offers visual boosts even at medium settings.
https://youtu.be/7w-pZm7Zay...
however with most of it's advanced features enabled it makes it difficult for any pc performance to enjoy. (even a 2080ti) DF - "with the stutters No PC is going to be running this at a locked 60fps or even a locked 30fps."...
the UE5 tech demo did not use baked AO or light maps either. it's lighting was based on in-engine global illumination.
next they should recreate this guy in dreams and out do his mo-cap.

i'm pretty sure that will be very easy to do.
343 confirmed a few days ago infinite will get free ray tracing update after it's launched.

Same with the PC version -
343 - "this is part of 343's goal to evolve Halo Infinite after the game's launch.
You'll either need an Xbox Series X or a ray tracing-compatible PC to enjoy ...
for a second i thought this was the whole tech demo playable. which it's not.
just the character is playable. it being said the mod is like you would expect from any model swap.
it's an alright game. (steam version) after my second play-though i still have have the same issues with it though.
it's a pretty good launch title but it lacks depth in character creation.
wished it had more options for voices and clothing.
interestingly enough this is actually the same way they did the first game.
they switched over to dev diaries exploring culture and mythology.

at least we know they plan on continuing the same quality of research.
"Man the graphics is a big fking let down. Hopefully the gameplay achieve the greatest of halo 2 and 3"
halo 3 was fun but definitely not the best looking in the series though.
it looked alright. i'm actually more impressed with how unreal engine has been stacking up with a lot of first party engines. to this very moment Unreal has so far showcased some of the most visceral visuals. so far, i think at least.
"Apple terminates Epic Games’ developer account"
this is surprisingly good news actually... no way am i using a feature that required you to spend $800 and have a Apple developer account. https://docs.unrealengine.c...
hopefully Epic can make their mo-cap feature work closer to cheaper and more accessible hardware.
