Sony already ridiculed MS for announcing an upgrade so late into the gen. it would be pointless for them to release an even more powerful upgrade at a later date. And how would anyone be able to enjoy the upgrade so close to the next gen? they might as well do the upgrade soon or hold off and do a full generational leap.

“Well, the idea for us was, how do we bring true 4K gaming to the console market?” Greenberg said. “And in order to do that, today on the PC side, if you invest in a super high end rig, or a really high end PC, you can get 4K gaming now, right? But it’s thousands of dollars, often."

So it seems MS wants to deliver a 4k native supported console for much less than a gaming pc. interesting.

It's still up to the developers if they want to uncap or tailor make a game for 60fps. not unless there's a clause that says all games must be to a "specific type" on Scorpio. MS simply said in a response developers can "choose" how they want to use Scorpio. so some developers may choose 60fps or something else.

As of 2006 (10 years ago) resolution mattered to many nitpickers against sub HD standards found in exclusives and other titles that may have misinformed people based on box information - 480i,720p,1080p, ect... back when people accounted for every penny that they spent "$599" as true HD gaming. thanks to them we have no generations anymore.

"What is Xbox Project Scorpio, exactly? Er, it seems even game developers don’t know

" It’ll be more powerful, have loads of teraflops and that, and be capable of 4K resolution. But it’s confusing. Is it a real, next-gen Xbox? At the press conference, Microsoft’s Spencer said that it would be the most powerful console ever made, which certainly implied that everyone should prep to upgrade. But then later he said some other things that didn’t imply that. And then s...

final specs could change but according to sony they said they don't want a near generational leap in specs. they were clearly poking at MS for that so that should make things clear about where they stand.

For those who didnt watch:
MS: Here are all the games coming to PC!
Sony: Here are massive exclusives for PS4."

if i'm not mistaken there were some games in the bunch of sony's conference that are going to pc as well like kojima's game and of course RE7.

a very typical game of follow the leader. i guess anyone can be a PR manager. "we added a slice of cheese and charge you 25 cents less than a big mac."

There are no GPUs made by AMD that offer 4k with the TDP and thermal range of consoles. consoles gamers are asking for a miracle from AMD.

"They will continue to produce the old PS4 and sell it for cheaper because it still makes them money."

that wouldn't be the major case. the question would be how would you convince people to buy into the next generation of 4k gaming when a 4k console already exists, and at less for that matter? that will be the domino effect in the console market. when 2 consoles are marketing the same resolution as a standard. it would be marketing suicide when everyone alre...

A 4k console would definitely leave little room for the next gen. just imagine it, one 4k console to play this gen and then another 4k console to play the next gen + the generation before in 4k. the console market would sink with too much confusion.

If correct from both companies, all this means is that this gen was rushed with poor choices in hardware. http://i.picpar.com/7eOb.pn...
all this talk about "the next gen starts bla bla", is meaningless when only 3 years later new boxes are to set the "new" standard for gaming. now look at what's going on. the leaks have got to be for something else or fake.

it's debatable how microtransactions is used. games use to ship as a standalone with either a future or in the worse case abandoned many months after launch. microtransactions and dlc can be useful if the games are complete and all that remains are little extras to follow.

everyone wants to be like in the movies, it's been the future of gaming ever since the last generation. we'll see how things go for this game.

In my opinion a 4k edition would screw up the whole generation alignment. Nintendo's already announcing a new console half way through the gen, just putting this out there. Now (if true) there will be revisions in between each gen?

Just think about it for a second if you have some time to spare. people waiting for the next gen to arrive to buy a console, then 3 years later buy another version to play games at an even higher standard. and then what do you think will happen...
