Has anyone counted the pixels on this yet? Would be great to know what the resolution is on Pro! Maybe I'll try and do it myself... FPS is a smooth 30fps with very rare dips to 26-28, but I can see some checkerboard artifacts here and there (grass etc.) I'd like the to patch in a bit better motion blur, cuz it makes me a bit sick currently. The game is actually better than I expected and looks super beautiful, though!
Yeah, these DQ guys have been around for a while. The composer for Dragon Quest was born in 1931 and is 86-years old today. Sugiyama-san is still kicking and composing awesome new tunes to DQ!
Horii-san, the creator and designer himself is 63, so he still has a few games left in him ;)
I have a feeling this last one might be his best in a few years. Hope you guys get the localization next year early on!
Released three hours ago! Playing it now.
The first few hours are good so far, very classic DQ. The midi OST is a bit tough to listen, but you get used to it and it kinda fits in nicely after a while. It creates a really old-school feeling in a good way! They really went for content and quality over production values and me and my wife love it like that! Surprisingly beautiful graphics as well, stable frame rate on Pro and I think the resolution is around 1440p-1800p check...
Yeah, but to get 60fps with better graphics you need to shove $1500 or 1500€ at least for the PC.
I'd say Dragon Quest XI will beat it, but I will see in exactly 38 minutes how good it is! ha!
I feel that many of the criticism towards Persona 5 is not actually about the game, but the localization. Let me explain.
After putting 80 hours in the Japanese version, and checking out a few videos of the English version, it definitely feels like the Japanese version's pacing and excitement is woven into the game much better through its excellent writing and voice acting. The voice acting is superb in Japanese, but only mediocre in English. Compare English voices with...
For this is a cinematic experience, I'll choose upscaled 4K @ 30fps. For games like Nioh, 60fps is a must (the 30fps was unplayable due to bad motion blur.)
How can you preload this? I've got this preordered for a week or so now, but it just gives me the 20hrs or so to play this title time, instead of adding it to download list.
Maybe they focused on writing the game's scenarios instead of acting them out. Persona 5 has a nice balance between voices, but I think DQ is more old-school and I like it like that. After putting over 150hrs on DQ VII remake on 3DS without having voices, I'm sure I can handle this on a big screen and on PS4 Pro. Midi OST is a bit of a disappointment, but it worked on DQ Heroes so I'm ok.
Next gen I want more beefy and expensive console. 499€ - 699€ is fine with me. I'd like to have a premium package where there are two controllers, beefier SKU and two games of choice at around 799€ or so, that would be the perfect price point for an adult gamer. Then, I would not need to get a PC, which I'm very much planning to do very soon!
This is just retail, and this release will have legs due to its huge content making it a great value proposal, particularly at around $19.90 or 17.49€. I would imagine that between the original Wipeout HD PS3 release and now, the retail and digital purchase barometers have switched their positions, especially for these kind of low cost, good value, rich content titles that takes only third of an AAA titles HDD / SSD space and is otherwise suited for digital distribution much better. It's ...
Well, Volta chip has been shown by the CEO in public for shareholders, and the Coffee Lake 8700K is reportedly from the assembly lines on schedule to release later this year. This is within 6 months no matter how you look at it.
And I'm a PS4 Pro gamer on a TV, and love the Switch to bits, dunno where you are coming from mate! Was funny tho.
I'll wait for that 6 core Intel 8700K and Volta non-Tesla flagship gamer card. That should be enough for 4K for a few years. Just add another one two years later and you are set again for a few years!
I liked ODST campaign the most, it had a cool vibe and build up to it, reminded me of the original. Haven't played 4 and 5 yet, thinking of getting Xbox X since I skipped One. Do you guys think it is worth getting X for Halo Masterchief collection, Halo 4, and Halo 5, all only SP, not interested in MP? Xbox One X would be decent for multiplats JRPGs and Anthem and such. It's still pretty cheap for its tech.
Yeah, that is what I hope. And actually would be fine with 30fps with a high quality post-processing and motion blur and super even frame-time.
Exactly what I meant as well in my other comment. Axing fast travel forces game developers to design their games better, and essentially the games will be better for it.
I think fast travel is a short cut in design. Every game should implement real ways to travel fast, instead of a map where you click the location and warp there. Dark Souls has a great way of doing this with its short cuts and elevators etc. Meanwhile you should be also given something else to do, if just thinking where to go next is not interesting enough. For example in games like Fallout or Skyrim, there should be a dragon that flies, a mount that is very fast or something. For example WoW...
I'm pretty sure he is Sami Järvi, the guy who wants to be so American and has never even lived there. Oh please, keep your own name and respect it. I find it extremely childish to use a translation freely of his own name. Feels like a fame oriented guy, who doesn't focus on substance enough.
Yeah, but you still can't take away the easy portability of Switch and Nintendo quality ports / care for their own games. Bayonetta 1 was good, but I heard 2 was superb. 1080p versions of both games at 60fps would be great. No need for 4K if the content is good. Switch is a pretty attractive package by the end of this year, and already is with Mario Kart and Zelda. Those closed the deal for me, and am waiting for Mario Odyssey now.
However, Horizon and Wipeout on Pro a...
Yeah sure GoG, Steam and the like work really fast, but I'd say PSN stores across the world offer similar or sometimes better deals, have equally exclusive contents and the download speeds are not bad either. Took me 30mins to download and install a 30 gigs RPG on a typical internet connection in my country. Xbox Live is pretty fast as well.
Who uses retail nowadays anyway?
