You know as a son and father, you guys should just talk in-person rather on these forums.
The 4090 is awesome! Strangely, more expensive today than when it launched. 5090 has pretty much the same performance using the same watts, because it can't feed the extra cores with 450W. 600W GPU is a bit too much for me, although I guess I could go for a max 1000W PSU. Just not very comfortable with that kind of GPUs transient spikes, apparently they go up to 901W according to TechpowerUp review.
That leaves 99W for the rest of the system + the CPU would also have t...

If you don't need the laptop, what you could do is to sell the laptop and go rtx 5080 desktop and buy yourself Rog Ally X and put Bazzite on it. Certainly covers all your gaming bases for years to come both on the go and at home. Separately buy a small and cheap laptop for work if required. Another way is to keep the laptop for on the go gaming and simply build a new desktop with 5080 and 9800x3d in it.
Their market cap is 3.37 trillion dollars, I'm sure they are not in "trouble" lol
According to the financial reports they are firing on all cylinders and making money left and right, on all business segments they have.
There is absolutely no reason to upgrade from 40-series unless you are going up a tier or two. The 50-series is a complete dud and Nvidia tacked on the MFG due to lack of real improvements. They maxed out the die with more cuda, rt and tensor cores, and needed to up the power to have any gains. 50-series is on the same node as 40-series so there are no real improvements they can offer. You need to wait for the 3nm node to receive another 50-70% improvement over the 40-series.
If they can't unlock FPS over 120fps, they really don't know what they are doing with their engine. Can't believe they cannot go for 144hz for example, or 165, 180, 200, 240hz etc.
This should be a PS6 / Nextbox game for consoles, not current gen.
You are right, the 5070Ti is probably the best card of the bunch at the high end. 5080 and 5090 will be unattainable for most. The only nice thing about prices going up is that you can sell your "AI" GPU in a month's time at higher price. But then again, the prices of new GPUs are up an equal amount due to tariffs.
And after the tariffs it is a good time to sell the 4090 and consider an upgrade to the 5090. I bet the delta would be around 500 USD, which is not a bad sum to pay for an upgrade to the latest and greatest. The 5090 will also go up in value as a luxury item and AI boom continuing.
Get something that will get you to the PS6 performance (RTX 4080/5070ti/6060 or higher) and you'll be set for 10 years. Why? Because you can use the best in class upscaling that will not be available for PS6, just like how PSSR is barely better then FSR2.2. Within the next 24 months, you can buy a GPU that dwarfs the PS6 and and you'll also be able to enjoy the existing Steam library at higher resolutions and fps.
Not all games! While PC is my main platform, depending on where you live even emulation for older games may not be legal or perfect compared to original console versions with physical copies. How do you play a completely bug free Shadow Hearts I-III, Suikoden III-V, Dragon Quest V Remake, Digital Devil Saga I-II, Front Mission 5, Xenosaga I-III etc. without the original console and versions today?
For this old school stuff that I really appreciate, I got the PS3 Phats and ...
Patience is a virtue. Waiting for something good should be lauded, not looked at negatively. In today's "me me now immediately" culture somehow it is forgotten that gaming is a hobby alongside other meanings in life such as family, friends, career and exercise.
PS5 is the final Playstation I'm ever buying, I got the whole library covered together with the PS3 Phat from PS1 to PS4. However, I will buy most of the Playstation Studios games on PC. Desktop PC ...
I am certain this the first step in a longer, controlled journey. Kadokawa can ramp up the share price with upcoming portfolio reveals and launches while Sony slowly buys more of the votes from the current owners at slightly higher price. It also gives Sony the chance to see how effectively their requested changes will be implemented which in turn helps them reevaluating the next moves, incl. calculating potential ROI in case they were to increase their ownership.
My GOTY so far is Shadow of the Erdtree, and God of War Ragnarok PC right behind it. SMTV: Vengeance and Dragon's Dogma 2 and Castlevania Dominus Collection up there as well. How does Rebirth compare to these, favorably?
I didn't like REMAKE's side quests, new additions to story nor the ridiculous ending. Pretty much everything they changed with the original I didn't like, including the battle system. But everyone is raving about the Rebirth, so I do wonder ...
Exactly. Using the time you complain about the situation to correct it with communities and political activities etc. would be preferable.
I'm underwhelmed by this. Probably many of those are really good games, but they are the same games over and over again, nothing new or interesting. May buy a bunch of those in 2026 or 2027 if I have time to clear my backlog in the next 18 months or so. With a family and busy working life, gaming is a rare pleasure. It would have to be something special to make it worth it, and my backlog has most of that special stuff already, albeit some of them are older games (which is fine because th...
Well, I believe it was the most lenghty AAA DLC ever made, well worth 40+ hours of very solid completely new content and systems. It was a game of its own, frankly, so easily a GOTY contender.
This is good. I dislike the noise based on often short term and insignificant problems which may have a solution 1-2 weeks later. Even if there is no solution available then, if a potential downside doesn't change the overall good experience with the game that drastically, I don't want anyone bombing anything.
I trust larger and critical sites anyway, but I don't like to see childish behavior online generally.
Review bombing distracts from the...
I would presume the PS4 sales are much higher than all Xbox sales combined. Look forward to playing this, maybe in 2-3 years when I finally have time lol
You are correct. With technology like DLSS4 and the Transformer model you can essentially render at 1080p and get a 4K-like image. FSR4 looks like a winner from the early hands-on reports, so maybe the PS6 can utilize something like that with an 3D-Vcache CPU/GPU to come closer to Nvidia. I don't think the UDNA topline will be close to even RTX 5090, so maybe around 7900XT performance is possible for the PS6, just with a better upscaler and a proper Frame Gen.
