I see this as a compromise of the suits and developers. Not a bad deal, but not ideal either.
Three years to develop an AAA title sounds reasonable. Can't rush inspiration, but maybe these games lack of it as default :P
Well, to be honest, he's got a point. The interactivity (Oculus Rift + violent games + children = ??? = we have no data) has not yet been researched. Games approach a new level of realism, and the interactivity is becoming more and more gruesome.
I will always remember the moment when I cut my own finger in Heavy Rain. Maybe the active (vs. passive) nature of games create new sorts of cognitive processes and we learn in new, unexplored ways?

I'm a Japanologist and I find what you said very interesting. I have personally taken part in Japanese working life in Tokyo for five years, and I have to say, sleeping on the trains on your way and back from work, were some of the most important times to rest during the day. (my train rides at worst were two hours one-way, and this was between Yokohama and Tokyo, but in the 23-ku area).

Heck, the "saga" games were named after the creators wife's name (Soraya Saga) and one of the most famous modern philosopher's, Nietzsche's, three great books. Talk about commitment and a deep choice of subjects!

Sony should buy Oculus and the rights to it and make this their next-gen "Move" peripheral and test the market. Suitable move to the new bold Sony, where corporate strategy seems to embrace creativity and money-making at the same time.

I'd like to have a PS4+Vita bundle, one unified global PSN, ALL previous playstation games available to play on (PSP, VITA,PSX,PS2,PS3,PS4) PS4 with some small smoothing options and maybe even 2x internal rendering etc, new IPs with strong storytelling and intuitive gameplay, exploration of what you can do with games as a media through indie games etc.
