Lol it can't be that bad can it? Is it a fight to the title of "Floppiest Enhanced Title" between Agents of Mayhem, Mafia 3, and Homefront?

Oh noes I've been tricked into revealing my secret identity!

The argument for the feature is that it would bring parity with physical releases, which cost the same amount to buy.

Yeah I'm not saying I'm short of things to play. Far from it. I don't even have any of those new games you listed yet, and I've still got more than I can get through. I'm just thinking back to the likes of the PS1/2, Dreamcast kinda days where the new games were a taster of new experiences to come.

Objectively speaking the X line probably has me playing a far better standard of games than any of the console launches I'm looking at through my nostalgi...

The holy grail of being able to gift/trade/sell digital games we already "own" will never be found.

If anyone is looking to test the feature then go right ahead and send me Shadow of Mordor, Assassins Creed Origins, COD WW2, Battlefront 2, and Forza 7.

Don't thank me, I'm happy to help.

If you evaluate hardware in terms of "bang for your buck" and take its nearest rival the PS4 Pro as the baseline, then yes. It is massively over-delivering. 130% of the price, 200% of the performance.

I suppose you could say the Pro is massively under-delivering if you prefer to look at it more negatively?

3008d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

With your numbers the Pro would be 30% less powerful than the X, and the X would be 43% stronger than the Pro.

Neither of those numbers is accurate though, because the Pro is actually 4.4 TFlops. And of course even if you were right, it wouldn't make the 100% real world performance increase any more or less significant.

lol. I get frustrated playing Quantum Break cos I want it to end so I can get back to more robust games, but QB is surprisingly lengthy for what it is. Hurry up and end, dammit!

I'm not sure it quite matches the satisfaction of getting a new console with some gobsmacking launch titles (but then I can't remember the last time that happened). It's also not quite up there with building your own watercooled PC rig and seeing it sing, as you get a little more sense of satisfaction when you put the work in yourself.

It is definitely a great console though. The first time I've actually appreciated a console for the sake of the hardware in....

I don't have discs myself, but when I picked mine up in store the 3 clerks that were working were bitching about the install times from disc.

Funnily enough one of them was laughing about it because he "doesn't own any discs, digital all the way". Despite working at Game. Staff discount can't be all that I guess.

If current releases are anything to go by, your disc installs will still require tens of GBs to download on top anyway so...

They know because you said you can't sell it. Anyone with an Xbox One X and half an ounce of intellect would be capable of selling it right now, so you definitely lack one or the other.

Gotta say, I'm not confident that you don't have the console!

3008d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Ignoring the fact that you are obviously trolling.... Why would you want to download games simultaneously? If you download them sequentially then you get the first games ready to play much sooner.

Downloading simultaneously would be dumb, unless the server you are downloading from is too slow to saturate your bandwidth with a single download (which isn't the case on Xbox, Playstation, Steam, Origin, or anywhere else I download games from).

130% of the price, for 200% of the power.

That's so good that I'm beginning to suspect blood magic is at play here.

Pixel counts from games that have been released. AKA real world outcomes. If the same games are outputting twice the resolution with all else being equal, then that's a 100% performance increase.

In reality the X version often has other improvements as well, but those are much harder to calculate (without an accurate insight into resource budgeting).

Game benchmarking places the Xbox One X at twice the power of the Pro.

"Yeah but sales!".

Oh Tazzy. You're still my favourite.

Wait.... you only have 1 PC?

Like, you don't have one in your home theatre room for epic cinematic gaming experiences, and one on your kick-ass desktop for competitive twitch gaming?

I recommend you buy another PC ASAP. If you can't afford it then you should check out the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro.

Diablo 3 is another one in the 100% club. And Agents of Mayhem. Looks like Star Wars Battlefront is in that ballpark too.

I knew a lot of people were understating the difference in power when they were comparing teraflops alone (because memory bandwidth makes a huge difference at high resolutions), but I'm not sure anyone expected 2x the performance of the Pro.

And yet the most impressive thing is that it does it all so damn quietly. /Hugs console. ...

No Worries. It'll be the 16x Aniostropic filtering, which does a great job of bringing out the details that were already there in textures; any textures that you are viewing at an angle should look cleaner and more detailed. As that typically applies to just about all the textures on the scene it has a very positive impact!
