@Ultranova I know that. Does that mean nobody should attempt to discern how the different versions compare? It's still useful information (in so far as performance comparisons for games can be useful), even if it is harder to be exact.
Going by Andy's reply he wasn't actually talking about the ease of the comparison anyway, so my original question stands up :)
Ah in terms of ease of doing the comparison? Yes that's true.
BF2 does have a suitable single player component though, and there is still value in comparing multiplayer versions even if it is impossible to do perfectly.
Why would only single player games show a big difference? If anything I'd expect multiplayer to emphasise the differences in performance more, because the devs don't have the same degree of control over rendering budgets.
Way too early to dismiss the changes. They've taken the MTs down temporarily so that they have room to make changes, and they will. We don't know what changes yet. Of course the transactions are coming back in some form, that's the trade-off for the DLC being free through the life of the game. That doesn't mean they will come back in the ridiculous pay 2 win format they're in now.
I totally get the skepticism that EA will do anything right, but it's...
So Shannon Loftis was responsible for the unsuccessful TV content push, and for the Microsoft Studios games offering for 2017? 🤔
It was actually the reveal that was all TV TV TV. E3 was games games ga...DRM?!!! Followed by some switches that apparently couldn't be flicked.
Meh. It wasn't up to the lofty standards of Lollipop Chainsaw lol
Lol i have no idea what you could do with a Phillips CD-I. Sounds awesome.
For me MS picked up the baton from the DC, and are still running with it now.
From the admittedly small amount of time I've played on the EA Access trial, it feels very much 'pay 2 gamble 2 win'.
Well yeah it was on a 33k modem in the UK. Still, Dreamcast pioneered console online gaming. It is how I cut my teeth on it so I'll always remember it fondly. Quake 3 and Phantasy Star Online set me on the path to MMORPGs and proper quake 3 :)
Yup I feel Blizzard are in a real lose-lose situation with this one. They either:
-Keep all the crap that came with vanilla WoW and have people realise that actually, it was crap.
-Pick and choose some of the best quality of life improvements, and then people will be up in arms that it isn't the classic WoW they remember.
Besides... Wrath of the Lich King was my favourite WoW-time. Sod vanilla!
Sounds like you need an MMO built for Kinect :p
I'm sure BF2 will sell a huge amount, but that doesn't mean the level of negative feedback will be forgotten. Most games don't have the Star Wars IP or the huge development and marketing budget to survive such negative sentiment.
You've also got the likes of Disney taking notice now, because it matters to them how their IP is handled.
I'm not saying we've defeated the lootbox demon, but shining a light on it is good.

Dreamcast demands a large share of that credit >8(
Ahahaaa that's the one time that Septic has ever won. He's gonna use that screenshot everywhere.
"What do you mean Ubisoft's Q3 fiscal results show a year on year increase of 0.8%? Look at this screenshot where I won a game of PUGB!"
The best part of it is that Star Wars is such a high profile IP that the industry at large (and beyond) are actually taking notice of the complaints now.
Not to mention Blizzard run WoW, where they sell the game, expansions, subscriptions, items in a digital store, myriad "services", and (in a roundabout way) in-game currency.
Stones in glass houses.
I have an X, but I'm a PC gamer first and foremost.
Multiplayer is a huge facet of Titanfall, and if you happen to like playing games on a controller then you'd get destroyed in the PC arena. Ergo the X version is a good choice for people that prefer playing with a controller.
What's ironic here is that going by your comment history you're a Playstation fan, using the PC as some kind of trump card that you don't actually have in your d...
They do deserve criticism, and they are getting it.
It's just too early to say "EA didn't change anything" here when they haven't made the changes yet. See what the changes are before saying nothing has changed. This might be our best shake at having a say in the conversation about micro-transactions and pay to win mechanics in the industry.
