@Ame_no_Shiryuu - I would consider the thought censorship that China imposes to be sicker and more evil than most anything else.
The only collectors edition item I keep on my desk and actually enjoy is the Vault-Tec bobblehead for from the Fallout 3 collectors edition. I can't imagine a dragon bobble head though.
You will have to buy your games again. If they took the backwards compatibility out of the PS3 so they could resell you HD versions of your old PS2 games, you can't expect them to give you your old PSP games for free. It just wouldn't be Sony.
I almost don't care about the next console. I play RPGs (especially JRPGs) and I can hardly find a decent one on any system. I guess I'll give up on the WII2 and go back to searching the used PS2 game bins just to find something worth playing.
Everything is online shooters. If this keeps up I'll go back to watching TV and reading books.
@supremacy, Maybe not. DS=>3DS is an improvement of the gaming platform with a little 3D thrown in. PS2=>PS3 was a solid winning gaming machine going to something that wanted to be an entertainment center at a zoomingly high price. That's a little different.
But you are right in that both platforms will have some great games that will make people like me buy both. I'll probably have to buy both for my son also. Good thing I have a job.^^
You NGP lovers need to learn from history. When the PSP was introduced it was promoted the same way that the NGP is now - high tech hardcore game machine compared to the DS. Well, it didn't win. I'll end up getting a couple of each when the different colors come out but just like the current PSPs I have, I will be surprised it I'm tempted to buy more than a few games for the NGP. 3DS on the other hand has the Nintendo Magic on it's side.
I guess it still hasn't made it to "uncanny valley" since they aren't yet creeping me out.
At least it's seems to be ergonomically designed especially for throwing when you get really ticked at yourself for buying it.
That would be fine, but when Steam type or some other strict type of DRM happens don't complain. Your copy of your game will be registered to your account. No more used game market. Maybe internet connection required to play at all. Intellectual Property must be protected somehow. It's one of those things you can't have both ways.

There is very slow progress in battery life and not just with gaming devices. IPhone 4 battery has less than 8 hours talk time on 3G. That's with nothing being displayed and the price of it, without a contract is more than $600.
I would rather pay $250 for the 3DS with play time of 4 hours than $30,000 for a car that goes 30 miles.

Up until the final click though, it looked liked I was buying a 60 Gig PS3. People are gonna be surprised when they get the "not a PS3".
I love this place! The economy is going down the crapper. People have lost their jobs, some have lost their homes and everyone with retirement savings lost a boatload of $ and will need to work till they're 90 years old. And everyone here whines about which game console is better than then other. and your a fanboy and I'm not. Come on people - get a little perspective.
I have a physical DVD that I own. When I put the DVD in the PS3 it was fail. When I put it in the 360 it was a beautiful Technicolor move that I saw instead of a "I can't play this" kind of message.
I guess I could have paid for it twice by using netflix but since the 360 is a region free, multi-format capable DVD player I didn't have to.
Although the 360 doesn't have blue-ray, the other night I wanted to watch an old PAL formatted DVD of a movie (We're No Angles with Humphrey Bogart) that can't be found for less than around $100 these days. PS3 said PAL wasn't supported. Good old 360 played it without issue.
Why would there be a conspiracy about something as unimportant as a game console? I love all my game machines but come on, a conspiracy? They are toys for big kids. Fancy expensive toys, but toys nevertheless.
