No wonder my Wii collects dust.
I vote for whichever gives me the most RPG goodness on a screen big enough to see.
Yeah, some of them are still being defensive about having spent $600 on the PS3. When you do that you need to pretend it's the best thing ever made.
It's a business. They won. They sold more non-HD consoles than Sony sold with beautiful blu-ray and lovely HD. Nintendo did the right thing from a business perspective. We will see what happens next.
Maybe Ninty will open it's own AppStore and allow developers to create little games that play only on the controller.
Also have to wonder if the tablet controller will be able to play all those little games line IPhone and IPad have?
LOL - give it a year and Sony will be coming out with a tablet type controller and pretending it was their idea all along.
I can imagine lots of RPG goodness taking advantage of the new controller. Lock picking & similar things will be natural there. Flicking spells into the TV, maps/HUDs. Lots of excellent possibilities.
Movement and positioning in Strategy RPGs could also live well on the new controller.
I always preferred my 360 to my ps3 but when the dvd drive in my 360 broke last year I never bothered to replace it because there weren't any games I really wanted to play that I couldn't get on the ps3. After yesterday's conference I can see that I won't need to buy another 360 unless an unannounced Lost Odyssey or something like it shows up unexpectedly. With the new 3D monitor from Sony I may actually get a second ps3 as well as one or two NGPs.
Haven't been a real fan of Sony for a long time. My 360 broke last year and after seeing the MS presentation I guess I won't be replacing it for a while longer. On the other hand, my PS3 is working fine but I may be buying another one of those after seeing the Sony show. I see over $1000 going to new Sony products this year.
The kiddies ain't gonna learn until they get to spend lots of years in a prison cell with a roommate that just might not understand there noble and sensitive souls.
LOL! Mario and Zelda are "casual" games? I would think that COD and other online FPS should be considered casual before those. After all, shoot gun, get dead, res, shoot gun, get dead, res...over and over and mindlessly over again takes much less then Mario or Zelda.
But the Motion Touch controller would touch you back.
Whoever came up with that name is overpaid, no matter how little they are paid. I'll buy it despite the name. Stupid name though. Must have been a suit that thought of that. Couldn't have been a techie.
I hope they don't spend the entire time pushing 3D gaming again in some pitiful attempt to sell 3D TVs and telling us how their systems "only do everything". I remember hoping for something exciting and delicious last year and getting bombarded with "3D is the great and so are we", instead.
I don't get it. I play lots of games on both my DS and PSP. I have an IPhone that has a couple of games but other than dinking with word games for 10 minutes here or there I don't play games on my phone. I'm not sure that the people that play games on their phones would actually buy the kinds of games that are played on portables. I don't think there is any reinvention needed. If I had access to IPhone games on my portables I wouldn't buy them anyway.
I think it's easier to pass on GameStop if you want to save money. I just ordered Witcher 2 and L.A.Noire from Amazon. No tax. 99 cent shipping to get the games on release day. $10 amazon credit for Witcher 2 and $15 for Noire. Beats getting $2,00 for trading something in.
Why would you think that the government should decide the amount of profit a private company can make by dictating how much it can sell it's games for? It works just fine when the consumer decides how much they are willing to pay for a product. If you don't think a particular game is worth the price you are free not to buy it. Entertainment items, especially, are not essential for life, as it food and water and air to breath.
Oh goodie! another Wii Play. sigh.
Next gen games will be more expensive to produce because everyone is going to want to see more realistic graphics, mostly because that is almost all the improvement next gen will bring. Because of this I'm afraid investors will only risk money on "proven" franchises - sigh - more FPS/TPS. Sadness.
If they do something like that it will only stream to a Sony TV.
