And Sony as a whole dumped the FPS genre so they wouldn't have products competing with COD and (until purchase) Destiny.
That's the keyword - on Xbox. This chart is dollar sales-based.
Steam must've accounted for a lot considering the market share of Xbox relative to PS, and the impact of Game Pass where Premium Upgrades were only $30 or $40, compared to these other $60-$70 titles that released to a much wider console audience.
Going from $60 to $70 by itself is a 16.667% increase, so that says nothing outside of accounting for the price increase.
The bigger statement is from Sony themselves giving specifics on 2.5m day one (their biggest ever) and 5m after 11 days.
Well, October will be the only month of the year I guess we can say and relish in this
It's pleasant seeing a COD title *not* in the Top 5 Overall
Agreed, Spider-Man's a beast! I'd have never thought it to exceed Diablo 4 right out the gate but it did.
It's weird seeing Starfield ahead of FFXVI *and* RE4 both too. RE4 is so incredible and multiplatform, and FFXVI was hyped and marketed like a full first party title. I'd have surely thought they'd have done better especially being out months earlier
I for sure will be. Elite controller with all four back paddles ftw!... unless PS5 maintains notably better performance (then definitely PS5 physical).
Since Cities Skylines 2 came out my spouse took over PC gaming time, console is the safest bet to finish this game one day and I'd gladly support Larian getting a physical release out for one of the best RPGs ever made.
Your perspective is exhausting
... you've been able to do that for years. Sony even has an officially licensed controller for phones.
"This game may never come out by the looks of it."
Lol hey now, it's not a GaaS that got punted to beyond 2025.
Bobby Kotick will be available as a replacement to turn those GaaS around
The Golden Joysticks snubbed God of War Ragnarok unfairly.
Because of their weird timing, God of War wasn't included in 2022 and they obviously forgot to include it here.
Pentiment released one week after Ragnarok but was included as an Xbox option.
Let's see if they'll conveniently shaft Sony again in 2024 by forgetting Spider-Man 2, which released too late to factor into this year's consideration.
Why not? Spider-Man 2 is based off of geometry and animation systems created initially for Spider-Man 2018. It has baked lighting for different times of day as opposed to real-time global illumination.
RDR2 looks unbelievable for a last-generation title and they do have Ray Tracing in the 60fps mode for GTA V on current gen; they both have real-time lighting; there's no reason to immediately shoot down a Rockstar title before you even see it
Nah, rent free is exactly what this is. It's hilarious especially, that this is what it's like to be "horrifically toxic"
Nacon also published Gollum... I don't think the bar is that high. But this game does sound like a fun time
It is. Xbox's failure in 2022 and not having a significant title this year until Starfield, they didn't give new players a reason to invest in the hardware. The Game Pass third party titles only appease current owners, they won't and clearly don't drive adoption.
I haven't read the comics so I don't have too much attached to Eddie Brock as a character, but I am loving everything they've done in Spider-Man 2.
Last night I got through to being near the end of the story. Peter's normal again, we're looking for Venom, new "things" popped up in the city and are much more difficult than the usual enemies. This "Scream"ing fight that was amazing...
Game of the Year for me; the stor...
Yeah, no one here blamed Bethesda for how Redfall turned out - they rightfully blamed the owners (Microsoft). Sony paid extra for Bungie specifically for employee retention, these layoffs are on Sony's hands
Did Jim Ryan even pretend to like video games?
And hopefully some better Windows-level support for haptics so that we can take advantage of those features without needing to be plugged into USB
It was an above-average Ubisoft-like that skyrocketed to success because of controversy it didn't deserve and it hit all the right notes on Harry Potter nostalgia.
They couldn't add independent audio tracks for you being witch or wizard. You were always "they" even in conversations you're a part of. The shop runners have extremely few lines and repeat earlier side mission talking points. Those Gobstones for that little girl student constantly reappeare...
