In the PS5 version they've discussed the "Hero Lighting" around characters, even Aloy during gameplay. It's gorgeous.

Except DF just made a video comparing GeForce Now 3080 to the other streaming services and a local Series X.

The Series X wasn't always the most responsive either, surprise surprise

Days Gone - Sony Bend is based in Oregon, blue state. Ghost of Tsushima - Sucker Punch is based in Washington, blue state. The Last of Us - Naughty Dog, California. God of War - Sony Santa Monica, California. Insomniac and all they do - Burbank, California. MLB The Show - San Diego Studio in.... California. The bluest of blue states.

Get over it.

Xbox Series is the quickest selling Xbox and Microsoft has never been more PC-focused than they've been the last two years. Try again

What a horribly regressive viewpoint on gaming. Games are developed on PCs. A Series X is based on exact architecture to AMD's PC platforms and the PS5 is based on a slightly altered version of that same architecture. The Xbone and PS4 before them based on mobile PC architecture. It's crazy to permanently exclude that market just because... you bought a console.

It's important to remember in cross-platform-play cases like these, that a dominant platform wants to take revenue from the publisher, that is earned from that platform's competitors...

They put out progress updates for Star Citizen and no one is forced to pay into it. Supporting something with no release date isn't illegal, just stupid.

Iki Island was just an expansion, but it was a decent length. Death Stranding also had its Director's Cut. So Sony wasn't bone-dry, but their holiday was outshined by Infinite and Horizon 5 (which got announced only at E3). Plus the other XGS titles

Hopefully both give us more surprise announcements mid-year that still make '22.

Couldn't agree more. If I get Elden Ring, I'll never play Sekiro. I wanted to in 2021 but Demon’s Souls took quite a bit of effort.

Like you, that style of game feels too samey and I need to space them out. Elden Ring will be there for me in '23, '22 will be to finally give Sekiro the chance it deserves, and maybe finally run through the last 20% I've got left in Bloodborne.

Resident Evil's "reset" was just two games ago and Village received many GOTY nominations. It's the highest-earner-at-launch of the franchise. It's also my favorite of the franchise.

AC's reset was three games ago so it's a little more valid, but Valhalla has gone on to be the quickest selling of its franchise as well. They've at least quit pushing out annual releases and truly do support it as a platform more than just as a single game. ...

UE5 supports Switch and iPhone, and already has a perfectly playable demo on Series S; do you even know what you mean?

Of course not. You spent a year railing against Halo and hated it so much you beat it in a week.

CPU, SSD, general performance and efficiency of its modern architecture, rendering techniques exclusive to next-gen, higher levels of detail on games optimized for the system (such as FH5).

If you actually try the system (instead of complaining about it daily on a website), it doesn't look like this muddy mess people like you try to make it out to be, even on a 4K display.

Miles Morales' default mode is 30fps. Ratchet's is too. All gameplay and vids of HFW have been 30fps. Same with the brief GOW Ragnarok gameplay.

... and all have/will have a 60fps mode. Uncharted 4's port is even getting a 120fps mode and Ratchet is one of the first to offer a locked 40fps mode on 120hz displays with Fidelity settings.

Next-gen is about what it's always been - developers being more fully enabled to deliver the vision they ...

The ideal Ubisoft game now is when it's on a steep sale two years after launch with all the patches.

Seriously considering picking up Legion with that sale going on...

Watch Dogs Legion for $10-$15 seems like a great deal. Fully patched up by now with a 60fps mode that didn't exist at launch, free upgrade so no point in buying the PS5 disc

OLED, massive resolution jump over V1, haptics in the headset and controllers, inside-out tracking, foveated rendering. That sounds like a generational leap especially for something that has to be, first and foremost, affordable.

PC VR may have gone in a different direction had Vive thought about that instead of spending years making an expensive product even more expensive

2021 - The 3070/3080 Ti variants
2022 - 4000 series. Yes it'll be announced this year, they don't announce new generations at CES but later in the year closer to fall. Both 2000 series and 3000 series were announced in Aug/Sept 2018 and 2020 respectively.
