I love melodrama! Not just in my games, but also my movies. I have a large collection of Asian melodramas (mostly Korean and Japanese).
I would argue that Final Fantasy X is more melodramatic than MGS4. Not to mention just plain corny. Both both games rank very highly for me... and as I said before, melodrama is a good for me.
"The egg yolks represent Les Enfants Terribles. The way they split and cook are like the events of Solid, Liquid and Solidus' lives throughout the game."
Those are some profound eggies.
I can't say I HATE them...
However, the whole NFL thing I'm still not happy about AT ALL. IMO Sega's 2k series was a hell of alot better (and more realistic) than the Madden games. I've never liked Madden and probably never will though.
Now thinking about that again... I'll say I strongly dislike them.
I can see where David Hayter is coming from with some things... but even the 'love on the battlefield' part I wouldn't want out of the game. As cheesy as it may have been, it does rather fit with the Meryl ending in MGS IMO. And it's a game that's always been melodramatic and silly so to me those actually come to be charms of sorts.
As for Snake not being able to pull the trigger... I can say if he had and the game had ended right there... I would have been incredibly disapoint...
Seriously I just can't wait for the responses here in the comments. This article is even more silly than some of flamebait PS3 vs. 360 ones that pop up every other day.
This seems like it's supposed to be some kind of ego boost for Sony fans. But is that really neccessary? lol The Wii has the casual consumers firmly in its grasp. The PS3 appeals much more to hardcore gamers.
One being more 'popular' depends solely on your perspective and what markets, demograph, ...
Well, this reviewer was clueless to the MGS story, and it doesn't seem he's played any of them. But at least he didn't act like he was some fan and say ludicrous things as some 'professional' journalists have.
I did think it was funny that he said "very good cover system". I love the game but I think that's going a little far. lol
Well if anything it's one way to stand out from the crowd.
I have a hard time seeing how this is going to work though. It'll be cool if they can pull it off. I at least give 'em credit for trying something completely new.
"the xbox 360 is the onley console this gen to deliver crisp high gen graphics unlike its competitors"
Did he just say "high gen"? WTF?! Maybe he meant hygiene. Yes, the 360 is #1 when it comes to cleanliness apparently.
And this Greenberg is an idiot. Though I don't have to really point that out. Of course they're not direct competitors with the Wii... the only thing that could be at this point is the DS. Just imagine if Wii and DS fanboys we...
MGS = not big in Japan
Really, more people should know this. MGS4 did very well, but that was quite a surprise.
FFXIII is going to be the biggest push in Japan. Other RPG's may help... but I can almost guarantee you there's gonna be a frenzy for that game. Let's just hope Sony doesn't underestimate the demand like with the 80GB bundles.
Really it looks nearly identical aside from the slight color difference which can be adjusted on your tv anyway. There are a few minor architectual differences.
1:30 - It appears as though the buildings are further away on the PS3. Also the pole seems to be away from the wall and the wall does look different as well. However this may just be the angle. The wall is clearly different though.
2:01 - This may be the color difference again, but at first I thought the ...
Hey man, it wasn't so much a diss as it was a joke. I have a Wii afterall. And yes, I do think it's underutilized. I never said I was dismissing it. In fact if you look down below at my other comment I say I'm still hopeful.
As for the 'pattern' that may be true. But I'm speaking on the current state of both platforms. The DS in my eyes has alot to offer at this moment in time, as well as some great stuff on the way. To me it's a bit of slim pickins with the Wii. Super Smash Br...
Though I do think the PS1 had its share of classic RPG's as well. In fact there's many that I never had the chance at so I'll probably end up going back for some games such as Xenogears and Vagrant Story. I'm looking most forward to FFXIII and White Knight Story. However, Star Ocean and Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant (and to a lesser extent Tales of Vespiria)look promising. Doesn't really matter to me what console gets 'em as long as we start to see more JRPG's. This generation's been kin...
Jizzard Entertainment is actually working on Penis Hero. However previews for the game have been less than stellar.
"Unlike Vagina Hero which featured dozens of hours of intense gameplay (not to mention replay value)... Penis Hero falls premature of that mark. If you're so inclined, you can whack through Penis Hero's campaign in a little more than 30 seconds."
I still say the games up to Pokemon Silver and Gold were fantastic.
But that article was actually alot more interesting and funny than I thought. Pretty spot on too!
Strangely though, when I clicked on the Pokerap I imagined the X-Play and Attack of the Show crew all singing it. Really... I just don't know where that came from. I'm sorry.
Oh no doubt! I've been wanting me a DS with all the games they've got out and have slated for the future! I love how they've handled the DS!
I just feel the wii's novelty has kind of worn off. It launched as this thing that APPEARED as though it would revolutionize the way you play games... but I don't believe it's really been used to its full potential. Maybe it never will be. I'm still hopeful that SOMETHING special will be delivered eventually.
But yeah, Wii ...
Oh boy, Smash Siblings just sounds hilarious to me. lol
But the last thing we need is more companies copying each other. I want to see more orginal titles... as long as they're not half-assed motion sensor crap.
The only thing I really disagree with is the guy who said...
"The 360 has quickly defined itself as the console of choice for the RPG gamer."
Maybe western RPG's... which I'm sure is what they guy meant. I agree wit...
Gotta say, the multiplayer is looking to be absolutely fantastic. I'm especially glad to hear that the same weapons don't always spawn in the same spot. I think this creates a much more balanced game... kind of forcing you to actually get good with a wide range of weapons. Man, this game can't come out soon enough!
I'm interested in the campaign too, but even the multiplayer alone would seem enough to warrant a buy!
"We're going to start making REAL games!"
*audience is floored*
It's sad to see what Nintendo has become... but I HOPE we'll see something special from them that's a game hardcore gamers will actually care about. Even if it's one of their flagship franchises... I'll take anything at this point that doesn't rely on gimmicks.
They just need to release "Wii Laugh". The more you shake the wiimote the more the game laughs at you.
Mario's been using mushrooms for decades. Not to mention he's supposed to be a plumber right? I've never seen him work a day in his life. I think they should issue a ban or risk spreading the wrong message to kids.
Most of the things mentioned in this article I just find ridiculous. And I believe the majority of them would just turn MGS into something it was never meant to be. Play Tekken if you want a fighting game. Play some other mech game if you want battles like that. I just think it would be ridiculous to take those two things online. They make were fairly well in the single-player game... but neither are polished enough to come to the multi-player arena. And I guess this writer hasn't heard that ...
