@extermin8or
That's kind of my point. Whether it be games, junk food, sports, etc etc etc, people always want to demonize the things they don't like and force their own opinions on the rest of us with these shock stories.
Agreed. Think back to GTA: Vice City. Sure, it was a bumpy road, but by the end you owned most hot spots in the city (including a huge mansion) and were a complete badass.
Tommy Vercetti > Niko Bellic (in terms of their endings at least)
~Exactly what I was about to say. I took a break from Final Fantasy XIII ages ago (not a fan of the battle system) and only started playing it again recently due to the summer games drought.
After about an hour though, the story just pulled me back in and I stayed up all night playing. JRPGs really are all about the story.
Also, I agree with your comments on Lost Odyssey. Took me a while to get into the text-based story sections, but the story and characters ...
To be fair, I don't play games online, so map packs are of no interest to me anyway. The only DLC I've bought recently were the GTA IV expansions too, so I completely get what you mean about small DLC packs being unethical.
The recent interview with Bethesda mentioned they were going to be making longer expansions for Skyrim, actually costing the studio more but providing a richer experience for the player. That's what I see as 'good' DLC.
A guy I knew had a heart attack at 15. He was fit and healthy, played sports and never got ill, but he had a heart attack out of the blue like this. It's a form of cardiac arrhythmia commonly referred to as "Sudden Death Syndrome" and can hit anyone.
What happened to this girl is tragic and my thoughts go out to her friends and family.
Another FINE day for the Rupert Murdoch news empire. /s
DLC is a good idea. It's just like expansion packs, which have existed for a very long time in PC gaming anyway.
The problem with internet enabled games consoles and the ability to upgrade games and install patches etc is that there's much less pressure on developers to get games right the first time. If a PSOne game had been released with lots of bugs, there's not really a lot you could do about it short of making changes on later runs of discs.

A lot of work has been done on FFIII Vs, however I think they're still low on artworkers, so maybe it will ramp up in speed when this is finished. But then is the team that works on portable titles completely different to consoles?
Scroll below the image. all the controls are listed in English.
People said exactly the same thing about the Wii when it arrived, and yet it's the biggest casual system out there now. And considering the Wii makes up such a large percentage of actual sales, does that not make it 'core'?
The point is, Kinect is a good invention. It's just been poorly marketed and developed for. It's overpriced and has very little in the way of software.
As for Molyneux being a sellout, how exactly will Kinect ever progr...
@chak_
Well, I'm speaking from my own experience here. Rather than put my comment down, why not make a constructive one yourself?
I think it's actually pretty nice to see devs supporting each other and not trying to bitch and get one over on their rivals.
Also, a game being popular does not make it bad or even casual. It's like everyone who posts on a gaming site thinks they're some kind of elite gamer who is somehow better than the creative professionals who make the games they play.
Kudos to Todd Howard for showing some maturity.
In many cases, the steam versions use manipulated code that prevents mod applications. One example in which this is really evident is San Andreas where there were 3 versions of the game released and only version 1.0 could be fully modded. Most mods available on the net will come with install instructions. If they do not contain installers/self extracting archives, it'll usually be a case of replacing files manually in Windows Explorer, but really it depends on the mod.
Why do PlayStation fans care so much? I have a 360 and I like the achievements as well as trophies. True, they don't MAKE a game, but it's a nice feeling when you get a platinum trophy or get the 1000 points. It validates all your hard work and gives you something to strive for when a game begins to get a bit stale. For me, it's made old games worthwhile revisiting, as I know I've missed things. If anything, it saves money because you don't need to buy new games every 5 mi...
I agree that Liberty City is the best CITY. San Andreas is good, but it's not a city. It's a state containing 3 cities (Los Santos, San Fierro & Las Venturas). Playing through my free copy of Infamous now though and LOVING it, but it's no Liberty City.
XIII is the only Final Fantasy I have been unable to complete, but that's because I don't really enjoy the combat system (more of a fan of the old turn-based combat), but I still loved every second of the story and WILL complete it one day when I have the time and patience. I certainly don't think there is a bad FF game though. Everybody just has their own preferred style.
Have you played this game? It's really not all that bad. For a movie game, it's actually pretty good.
I don't agree.
Battlefield: Shooter
Uncharted: Action
Skyrim: RPG
Saints Row: Sandbox
I don't think they'll stop each other from selling. Let's also not forget that people will pick these games up themselves, but the whole point of releasing in November is to encourage people to buy as Xmas gifts.
Besides, Pachter has rarely predicted anything with any great accuracy, so I'll stay optimistic.
Saints Row is a highly respected game as it gives GTA fans what GTA took away...the fun factor. I love GTA 4, but SR2 was still a great game. Also, lots of people who want GTA 5 will likely pick this up as there's still no official announcement from Rockstar yet.
Even if that's true, 20-30 hours is still FAR better than the 6-8 hours you get from the average shooter these days, for the same price.
Also, I found the 'grindy' content in Oblivion (Nirnroot anybody?) to be enjoyable.
I do like Collectors Editions, but I really don't think I'd want a huge statue for a game. My favorite was GTA 4. It came with a bag, safety deposit box (which I do actually use), a hardback art book and the OST. Not bad for an extra £30.00.
