Read an article a while back (sorry, don't know where so no source) that suggested that most money from Windows sales comes from Enterprise editions for large corporations and OEM versions sold to PC building companies.
So, a free upgrade for the tech-savvy who are likely to install their own OS probably won't cut into their profits too much.
I have no need for voice chat in Destiny really. Objectives are clear and tactics are pretty simple, even at higher levels. One thing they REALLY need to add though is a form of matchmaking / invite emotes in the Towerto find fireteams. Right now if your friends aren't online, you have to resort to online forums and similar to find people, which takes you out of the game.
It's crazy to think that most of the high level content is blocked off behind this wall. I have p...
Was just about to post the same. Pre-ordered today. That said, I do think I'll play Destiny periodically IF:
- They provide more opportunities for matchmaking. I work 12 hours a day and can only play at weird times, so regardless of how Bungie want me to play, I CANNOT arrange to be online at the same time as 5 friends for a Raid.
- They keep true to their word and provide regular updates. The content that's there now is okay, but it's so monotonous and...
Destiny launch is Tuesday here in the UK too. Usually Fridays, but I guess Destiny is big enough to warrant bucking that trend.
Yeah Notch, the Wii U has 2 games. That's still one more than you. This guy and Phil Fish give Indie devs a bad name.
You want a constantly evolving game, you pay for it. Go and play F2P if you want and enjoy all the micro-transactions.
I hate to break it to you, but TESO is playing very nicely and it's not going to go F2P.
Due to NDAs obviously can't reveal specifics, but I have played it an it feels every bit an Elder Scrolls game. Like any MMO though, it will grow over time.
I've been playing FF14 lately and whilst it's great, it feels small compared to FFXI because of all of the years of development.
Don't know where 6 came from. There are 9 to choose from, with the 10th (imperial) coming if you preorder a certain version, but there is a pretty good reason why imperials aren't in the game in great numbers.
Well, I can't argue with that. I guess I just feel like people have been focusing too much on the numbers and not enjoying the games enough.
Like you say, it's not 'vital', but you wouldn't know that based on how much some people complain.
As for the refresh rate of a human eye, I'd be lying if I said I had any idea what that would be.
What people forget:
Film = 23.976 FPS
PAL TV = 25FPS (50i)
NTSC TV = 29.97 FPS (59.94i)
Some of the best games last gen were 30FPS, which is faster than most video content (50i and 59.94i refers to fields after all, not frames). In my opinion, 60fps really only matters for twitch shooters or maybe high reflex racers.
I'm sure plenty of wannabe elitist 'gamers' will disagree, but if all you care about is 1080p/60FPS...
Is a game rated less than 7 worth the hype??? But...you rated it 7...I haven't played it, but if it's really so popular, I think a lot of people might disagree with it being less than a 7. Review scores are subjective.
So, yeah...
I played Grim Fandango the other day again, arguably one of the best adventure games. That story is presented in different acts (years in the game). The same for the old Discworld games voiced by Eric Idle.
Being that adventure games are so story driven, I can't see any reason why they can't be broken up. People get the game earlier and we are left with a cliffhanger like in TV shows, so I don't necessarily think it's all that bad.
Can't s...
If you look at WoW, Final Fantasy XI / XIV etc though, you see that these initial prices normally plummet pretty quickly on subscription based games. I can pick up a Realm Reborn for around £10 and that's not been out a huge amount of time.
People who really want the game will be prepared to pay early, others might wait. The money isn't a complete deal breaker for me, but I'll more than likely leave it for a while. Plenty of other games coming out to keep bus...
This makes me VERY happy. Hitman is easily my favourite game series ever and whilst I do enjoy Absolution, it did lose a little of what made Blood Money so superb.
Shall be following this with great anticipation and, who knows...now that Kane and Lynch has finally gone away, maybe the dev time on this will be a bit more reasonable than last time around.
Discussions like this are precisely the reason why everyone in the general public despises us gamers. Elitist nerds sitting at a computer screen bitching about the hardware they don't own.
I've been gaming since the NES and Sega Master System and there were sure as hell no arguments about bloody 'jaggies' then. I have a PS4, not because of the extra power, but because I prefer the games. I also have a gaming PC, BUT I hate it when PC gamers talk about things l...
Exactly what I was going to say when I saw the earlier comments. Looking forward to this more than I can describe.
Ah, the 3DO. There's some good memories. Playing Alone in the Dark, Killing Time and Psychic Detective!
Again, there's nothing wrong with that. People moan about 'PC elitism' but who really cares? You play what you want and enjoy it. Just don't be too much of a dick about it online and everyone will get on. I have a PS3 and gaming PC (an old 360 too, but don't really play anymore) and every platform has its benefits.
I'm torn. I will be buying the PS4 (maybe the XB1 one day, but PS4 is my priority), so I do think it's better, but then fanboyism can be very annoying if you see it all the time. Message boards have become less about gaming and more an arena for people to argue. I come online for gaming news and sometimes it's just exhausting wading through all the negativity.
THAT SAID, nobody is forcing me or anyone else to read this stuff or even go on these sites, so in that v...
@FarEastOrient
GTA Florida would be Vice City (which is based on Miami) and the surrounding countryside and, like -Foxtrot says, that's the most likely next stop.
