@BLACKBOIJONES

Yeah, I do understand what you mean. I guess a big part of me just misses the days where games relied on gameplay over graphics to sell. I think if Square Enix were more conservative on the visuals, they could have made the overall gaming experience better.

Instead, they compromised the game as a whole in my view...I know the 360 isn't as powerful as the PS3, but I see no reason why FFXII had to come out quite as bad as it did. Square Enix ...

I'm sorry...I have a PS3 and a 360, but I don't think you can blame a console for the failure of a game. The truly great Final fantasy games were for the Snes and PS1. If they can handle everything SquareSOFT intended, there's no reason the 360 should be blamed for holding back FFXIII.

What "killed" FFXIII was an over-reliance on pretty visuals and an over-simplification of gameplay (which SE attributed to making the series more accessible to more gamers...

A site the size of IGN should be proof read, just like conventional journalism. Whilst the difference between to and too is excusable, spelling a country wrong and publishing it is idiotic, not to mention a little disrespectful. I'm sure people would care more if the United Sttes of Umerica was mis-spelt.

I don't care if it's IGN or anyone else, if you're a writer, you should be able to spell.

Yeah, this is the same section, only not played by Fallon.

I honestly was sitting here thinking "Wait...so people WANT this game...oh God..."

Nobody trades a game in after 4 hours unless you have no vision whatsoever. Considering GTA games unlock gradually and reward you with the better missions, cars, properties etc as the game progresses, you should have ben aware of the fact that 4 hours wasn't going to give you much.

People are far too used to modern games that are over in 8 hours and have big bangs every 5 seconds. My biggest problem with 4 was that your friends wouldn't stop calling you ever hour of t...

If you want over the top missions, feel free to head on over to Saints Row.

GTA IV may not have been to everybody's taste, but what it did, it did well. For me, it was the most fun I'd had in a GTA game since GTA 3.

I think the realism and character depth of GTA 4 with the expanse of San Andreas would be the ultimate game, but let's go easy on Rockstar...every GTA game has always taken risks.

this article reminds me of the time I was completing a quest for Lucien Lachance by travelling to a shack outside Bruma. Just North West of the North Gate, there were two Bruma guards who would always fight to the death whenever I loaded that particular save.

Made for some great target practice!

Then learn to pace yourself, or get into shape?

If you want to be the stereotypical unhealthy gamer, be my guest. I'll be swinging my arms like an idiot towards cardiovascular glory!

Motion controlling is for whoever wants it. If you don't like it, don't play it. But if somebody doesn't have a Wii and wants to experience motion controlling, you can't then say that's wrong.

I'll admit, I'm not really a fan, but I think that giving one console MANY options and approaches can only be a good thing. This is elitist hardcore gaming fanboyism at it's worst.

@Haly - My bad!!! Good list then.

It may well be hypocritical, but it's the way of the world. I work in television and job security is a real issue when so many people are fighting for the work. That wouldn't stop me watching tv though if anybody I knew lost work.

If the IW execs that got axed are so good, then finding work shouldn't be an issue.

Either way, Black Ops is a good game. It's a victim of being overhyped, like COD always are, but it's still a good game.

Exactly! Now, I understand why the author might think that Skyrim might be "more of the same", but I don't see that as a bad thing. I loved Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

And as for the glitches, I guess I've just been lucky. I have NEVER had a game breaking bug rear it's head on ANY Bethesda game...and I play the PS3 versions, which are apparently worse :-/

Edit: I have seen a few glitches, but nothing that stops you play...

*sigh*

I remember when 72/100 would have been considered a good score. Now, if a game scores less that 85, people either go crazy defending what is still a good score or won't play it because apparently less than 85 means it sucks...

...Damn you, reviewers...you're ruining games for the gamers and only serving to make the fanboy wars worse.

I would LOVE it to be The Getaway 3, but that game was in concept before the PS3 came out and it was canned for being unprofitable. I feel that this is just going to turn into another Shenmue, where people ask for it for years and it never comes. :-(

I would rather see a game that develops QDs own style than rip off techniques from other games, which is what most studios do these days.

Say hello to Heavy Rain...cover based shooter with increasingly brutal melee attacks.

Try something new...I'm sure it won't hurt.

God of War 3 was a great game. Heavy Rain was also a great game. Difference is, Heavy Rain is innovative and pushed gaming to new levels. Definitely my GOTY too...

What's Yakuza like gameplay wise? I've been tempted to pick it up a few times but it feels a little too much like an arcade beat em up from reviews.

If you've ever played 'The Bouncer' (Capcom I think), it seems like that with the ability to walk around. Or is that completely wrong?
