I'm just not a fan of the cheesy article title. Unlike anything in the game, this title actually feels forced. There's so many other aspects of this game that are really positive and impressive, but the author of this piece chose to placate and pander, and cheaply at that.

I'm actually quite surprised at how tame, mild, and relatively subdued the lesbian aspect is. I expected a lot more gratuitous, in-your-face pandering, given the nature of the gossip and the d...

@Ristul

This may sound harsh, but it doesn't matter what fans invested in.

Writers write to tell the stories THEY WANT TO TELL - NOT THE STORIES THEY'RE EXPECTED TO TELL. Imagine for a moment if we mandated what avenues writers were allowed to take WITH THEIR OWN STORIES.

Now, it's true that many people write to appease. They write to satisfy a particular idea or expectation, and that's fine - that's THEIR business...

"He wanted an ending that made sense."

It does make sense. You and the author just don't like it. It's really just that simple. You can say it doesn't make sense (with no supporting argument as to why) but it simply boils down to the fact that you don't like it. Whether or not things like this make sense is up to our individual interpretations.

You and the author of the article liking it is not a requirement, however.

Though that may be true, the title of this article is a bit cringy.

Just a bit. It's a tale of so much more than that, too.

The problem with the term "subversion" is that nothing is established law. Only what ND writes in 'their' story and in 'their' game is established law. This is not our story - it's Naughty Dog's. It's theirs to tell, however they want. We can like it or not like it. If that's the story they want to tell, how could it be subversion? Naughty Dog dictates the law of their works. They cannot subvert themselves. This story is their will.

Do you mean the film grain?

Maybe it can be toggled off. I'm not sure.

It does seem ever-so-slightly more aggressive in this game.

It's easily one of the best looking games of all time.

No matter how you feel about everything else, the technical achievement can't be denied, especially given the constraints of the relatively weak PS4 hardware.

Look what they did with it. It's brilliant.

Read the first page of my comment history.

I 'respect' anyone who 'respectfully' disagrees with any of it.

I don't have to acknowledge that at all because for one, I don't believe that.

I was initially worried that the hub-like Seattle area could ruin the pacing, but Naughty Dog made it work.

I'm not sure if you mean museum or aquarium. Haven't seen an aquarium as of yet.

Any reviewer would tell you that "10" doesn't mean "perfect" and anyone with half a brain would already know that.

"funny thing is that the game relies on narrative"

It doesn't rely on 'only' narrative though. The immersion; visuals and gameplay are also quite good. The game relies on those qualities as well - not just the story.

I disagree that a 6 is fair, and the lowest I could give it wo...

"the person using the word is also not tolerant of the others views so therefore both bigots."

No. Wrong. From my understanding of the scene, the man had said something rude to Ellie regarding her orientation. She only called him a bigot 'after' that. 'He' was the aggressor, and therefore he alone bears the label of bigot in this case.

You can't just omit context, dude.

You'd be correct if she called hi...

This game has absolutely exceeded my expectations. Game of the year by far for me as well, and it may wind up being my game of gen.

Bloodborne, Witcher 3, God of War, TLOU 2; there have been so many damn good games this gen. It's quite difficult to make a choice that puts one above the rest.

Many are so aggressively critical that they indeed rise to the level of hate.

Respectful (<--key word) disagreement is one thing. Intolerance, destructiveness, and spoiling are not respectful disagreement or criticism. Granted, it's a balancing act to be critical and respectful simultaneously, as disrespect is an inherent aspect of being critical. Criticism naturally requires a degree of disrespect.

Nothing wrong with a critical article that disagr...

"And no I do not believe that the users who do not like the story or direction ever wanted to cancel the game. They wanted to try to push change."

They wanted to try and push change? Ha. To what end? To see the game and its supporters suffer, of course. The game was already long completed by this point. You're completely mischaracterizing the events and reducing them to the level of innocent protest. That isn't the case and you damn...

You made the assumption about the hivemind. You made that connection."

What? I did nothing of the sort. You said: "Journalists: either you agree with our critical reception or youre a bigot, homophobe, radical, racist transphobe, privelaged crybaby." ...in a manner that implied you took issue wit...

Pretty much.

People are entitled to express their views, be they conservative or liberal.

Guys like "The Quartering" lament and bemoan CC all the time, that is, if the alleged victim is conservative of course. That same individual who has endlessly cackled and told people to "grow up" has behaved like an utter child simply because he disagrees with Naughty Dog's views.

So, it's OK to spoil (or cancel) a game...
