What constitutes a killer app though? Ratchet and Clank, Horizon, and Spider-Man: MM are top tier games that most people are excited about. Then there's all the other interesting looking games they showed.
PlayStation has never really had a mascot or the need for a "killer app." They just have a lot of great studios that make a lot of great games.
This mythical killer app stuff is nonsense, imo.
Yeah, that kinda sucks.
I love difficulty based trophies, but oh well.
I haven't even looked at the list yet but I'm about to.
"Realistically though, I can’t remember a time when so many big titles or just impressive looking new ips were introduced at a launch reveal before. Ever. My take is, if the games look like this now, what amazing games will we be seeing down the line?"
Yeah, that's a good point. I remember with PS4, there was barely anything of note at launch, and Sony relied heavily on low budget indies at the onset, however, unlike other brands, they also had the promise and...
Both consoles will have 30 fps and 60 fps games, obviously.
But so far, based on what I've heard from the Microsoft camp, is that they're really focused on frame rate, so I expect to see a lot of 60 fps games on Series X, which of course also means visual concessions.
We have no idea what developers will do, but Microsoft and Phil have been playing up frame rate since they introduced Series X.
A technical and visual masterpiece.
Sounds about right.
I thought many of the games looked good. Solid showing.
The one game that moved from the 'undecided' column to the 'no' column for me was Godfall. Definitely not feeling it and it's just not my type of game.
The overall games showcase was excellent, though, I thought. PS5 is coming in with a bang.
@rain
I consider myself the same, though I find rampant, incessant anti-SJWism just as bad. I'm of the same wait-and-see mindset. I may very well not like what happens, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.
If I don't like it, I'll speak up about it, but what I do know I'll enjoy regardless of anything else is the game play. That much I do know.
You could be right about opponents of the game and of Dru...
To amend: No, you can't be imprisoned or killed by the government in the United States for being politically incorrect, but the fact that you can lose your job and livelihood is pretty lousy.
I think Microsoft went for practicality while also making a statement, and Sony went with futuristic and sleek. Though I like them both, I do think PS5 has a certain 'cool factor' with its design. Sorta like a building you'd find in Dubai.
If the Series X emits a green glow, that would give it some cool points also. Though, I believe it's just green plastic, unfortunately.
Lots of things are off limits.
Some are invariably career ending, such as unflattering or negative opinions of Israel.
There ARE exceptions to FoS.
Yeah, exactly.
All those things that you see in the thumbnails on YouTube - this is that.
But, I really do like it.
I'm incredibly proud of them as well.
Even with all those IPs, Microsoft aren't proven. They're just not proven. All those things and more have to materialize. Sony is proven, and they keep proving that they're proven.
Microsoft needs to show up to the party, and they need to bring a big-ass keg with some pretty quality stuff, and they need to do it time and time again. They're at that point now - that's just the way it is.
So until we see the goods, the pressure is on Mic...
Haters, skeptics; basically anyone who thought Sony wouldn't be as solid as they've always been. I really think Sony have an unimpeachable record when it comes to quality and output.
They're not perfect, but they're damn good.
Indeed, my good man. Indeed.
That Jeremy idiot from "The Quartering" with the unkempt beard - he's eating a bucket of premium crow.
Masterpiece as expected.
Great show.
That and a Bloodborne 2 would put me through the ceiling.
I do.
I'm "concerned."
