Uh oh. During the Twitch E3 spotlight on this game they really pushed to not have the word "drunken" attached to the style for rating reasons. The title of the article should be "Absolver reveals the stagger style in new trailer."
I'm not going to get excited unless I learn Ueda is coming back to oversee the project so it's done correctly. Remakes can easily miss why and what made the original so great--and yes even the graphics of the PS2 were geared to enhance the game in spite of the limitations. The studio involved in the remake could easily botch the experience with a single addition or subtraction. A misplaced shadow, or an off texture. I fear this will be like Lucas and his original trilogy. I sugges...
I'll never understand this. How is heavily scripted in a good way like a Platinum game a good thing? I mean their cutscenes remind me of a bully big brother taking away the controller "Sorry little sibling, you're way too lame for this part. I'll give it back once I'm done being a bad ass. You are SO not as cool as me." I wanna BE Spiderman! I don't want the developers holding my hand "Wow! Wasn't that cool?! Bet you wish you could do that."
Yes, it definitely was scripted as much as people think it was. All stage demonstrations are highly rehearsed and played by someone who knows the demo inside and out. It's all done to create buzz and really flaunt the game--every publisher does it at E3.
There was a very heavy blend of Batman Arkham combat with Uncharted over-the-top set pieces progressed through the use of quick time events. I'm sure the quick-time events will be limited to those large set piece...
For the life of me I'll never understand the buzz of this title or why it's as celebrated as it is.
In terms of story it's a contrived and pretentious. The first half of the game could be cut out it's so irrelevant. Then again if they did couldn't plaster 2B all over as the "main character" could you? What's worse it follows a plot of melodrama which every bad anime follows in its themes. Not to mention the countless plotholes of this ...
I'm not entirely sure it's a good idea to have a strong advertising tool of a trailer be linked with the games as they appear on the list. Trailers are designed to make games look good--very good. Wouldn't it be better to record some gameplay of the issues you have and post that? It would at least show you not only played the game for yourself but also show you're just not lazily making up a list based on what would be most controversial? I mean I browsed metacritic and...
I don't know what it is about this website but every time I click to follow the story I get sent to a broken site. Is it just a Firefox issue?
On topic (since I can't read the full opinion) I disagree with the ending statement. Battleborn was, by all accounts, a very competent product. It's only real mistake was competing directly with Blizzard's Overwatch. There was no way Gearbox and 2K could stand up to the hype and brand loyalty of Blizzard and their ...
I think People Can Fly left to their own devices can create something really awesome. Their first game, Painkiller, was a fun and fast paced FPS similar to the likes of Doom 2 and Quake. Then they got picked up by Epic who co-developed a lot of their stuff like Bulletstorm--which had Epic's finger prints all over it.
If Square leaves them alone, I'm sure we'll get a crazy fun shooter.
I'm a bit lost on the hate as well.
I mean the engine was different but they had to update the game to a new generation. The tier list gets criticism but Tekken 5 also had huge issues with this and doesn't get half the bad mouthing. The aesthetics of the game were wonderful, the sound design amazing, the music very memorable, and I loved their attempt to reduce the cast and keep the roster diverse while pushing the most down to earth narrative Tekken has seen o...
Not necessarily. I mean I have no doubt they want release a competent project, but not all delays are production based. Developers already mentioned there were no big hang ups with the game's development leading me to believe the delay is more about hitting a financial window for the company or less competition.
"That means they have longer to work on the game." Not really. A delay in release doesn't mean the developers are given more time and more mone...
I disagree entirely. There's no chance of making things better when you give companies the legal justification to hold parts of the internet hostage. ISP's already have a track record of monopolization and setting themselves up so they don't directly compete with each other. There's a huge difference between paying more for faster internet than there is paying a premium to get basic access to certain sites.
Just as an example--let's assume your ISP...
After reading his (Harada's) comments, I agree with him. People like to cite very specific examples of Japanese development going strong and doing fine, but in doing so miss the broader perspective. Think back to the NES era all the way up to the Playstation 2. A top selling Japanese developed game wasn't the surprise it is today--it was an every day thing. Then the market over in Japan shifted to mobile devices, teams got smaller with less funding, no indie scene, and the PC as a...
Good for her! I was heartbroken to hear she might have to stop speedrunning because of her wrist/hand pain. I'm not only thrilled she overcame it and decided to speedrun the game, but she even managed to get the world record in the category! That's just inspiring.
So the stones seem to take the place of the second assist. They look like they work similar to Ultra's from Street Fighter IV where you can use a particular move to built it slightly or when you're hit. Appears stones will be the new "come-back" mechanic, but at least they offer some sort of counter play. No doubt as the game grows certain stones will be higher tier than the others.
It's still a shame they're using pretty much the same character...
Marvel does have the right to put their characters into the game, but they won't. They only want to use characters they can tie into their films for promotional purposes. Fox owns the film rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, and Marvel doesn't want to give Fox free advertising by including characters from those franchises in the game.
I do suspect, however, if the game isn't getting the buzz they want--they will cave and allow the inclusion of X-Men a...
"I don't want to make excuses, I don't have any.." --Proceeds to give two paragraphs full of excuses.
We all get frustrated but it's how we handle it that is completely under our own control. Some of us rage quit, others tilt and play worse but in silence, some will finish the match and then go scream into a pillow or something--but this guy chose to verbally attack another player in hopes of making them equally upset. It's unsportsman-like, undigni...
I would honestly think the real question would be: "Do people really need another Soul's style game?"
Naturally that's down to personal taste but, if the market is anything to go by, two things are true: The two types of games doing well above all others this generations are Soul's style games and Open World games.
With this game there might be a split between fans of anime and fans of the Soul's games, however. With establ...
Think the site needs to learn what "scientific" means. It means data compiled using the scientific method. All this site did was compile data of 44 "top games" list and bell-curve the data. That's not science. You took a very limited group of lists based on opinion. Am I ruining what is obviously supposed to be a bit of fun? Yes. Yes I am.
I think a comedian said it best "It's people who tell bad jokes who ruin things for the rest of us. How do you know you've told a bad joke? If you had to follow up what you said with 'I was JOKING' you've made a bad joke." You're not being funny and you're ruining good humor for the rest of us. Shut up and work on your game.
I disagree with everything on this list--even the controls.
I'm not sure why people didn't like the controls of this game and yet feverishly defend the slower, methodical movement of games like Dark Souls. They both con vie a sense of the same idea--you are not a super hero. You are not an action star. You are an average person thrown into an extraordinary situation. You are not the most athletic or responsive and this communication to the player needs to remai...
