I'm hell dissappointed with the multi. The core game is great, but there's just not much to do afterwards.
Give me Forge, the Flood and that CoD class based warfare he talks about and I'll definitely put it back in my disc drive.
Read what you will into that though. Some will say that means they're really good, others will say its just more crap from Microsoft for dumb easily pleased gamers to buy.

I hope we do see new campaigns as DLC expansions though. Playing as or with the Gravemind could be a far more mindbending experience.

Other than that you make good points and I think a Steam like platform would be a blessing for consoles in solving many of the aformentioned issues.
I utilise iinet and for A$60 I get 60gig download, unlimited Xbox Live usage (downloads, gaming, etc) along with iTunes, Gamershell &3FL, free Premier League, free Super 14, free Majors Golf, VOIP account (no need for phone line anymore!), and connection speed that goes up to 24000mps but tends to sit in the 8000 range with an upload about 20% of that figure (ie. 1600).
In addition there's no fees for exceeding cap you just get shaped to 256K download speed.

I think the problem with Rare is not that the brothers left, it's that they don't have a brand like Nintendo that has a more relevant market for its games and knows how to market them to casuals (along with people who don't feel sexually insecure playing with teddy bears and pinatas).
Btw a Battletoads release, even an HD version of the original on XBLA with online co-op would be awesome! :D
