Why was this even submitted as a story? Has NOTHING to do with gaming.
He was an enormous force in the direction of the company, the premise of the article seems like a legitimate question.
It's liver cancer:

What a sad day for Nintendo and its fans Apparently it was a type of liver cancer. I may not have been a big fan of the direction Nintendo was going, but I am very sorry to hear that Iwata has passed away. It seems very sudden, most people didn't have any idea he was this ill. Condolences to his family and his coworkers.
RPGrinder: So, the toys are something to be proud of, for people that love video games? More gimmicks that have nothing to do with gaming, and in fact degrade it instead? Toys that are required to unlock DLC, and cost $13 each? That's some pretty expensive DLC, for the little you get in return, don't you think?
More excuses. Step up and demand better from your beloved company, instead of eternally making excuses for their bungled products.
While Paradise was a great game, I agree with you that it really wasn't a great Burnout game. Burnout 3: Takedown is the best Burnout game, and Revenge is a close second.
I hate to say it, but I totally agree with you, and I generally love retro-inspired games. Maybe I just didn't understand the game or give it enough time, but on several occasions that I tried it, I found the game to be almost unplayable. Very hard, and not fun in the least.
If they do make a sequel, I hope they put more effort into the gameplay.
It's diehard "fans" like you who are contributing to the Death of Nintendo. By making excuses for every poor product and bad decision from the company, you encourage them to stay the course, and to continue down a path leading to failure. Each valid point that I made, you minimize and try to dismiss. You fail to hold this company accountable for their actions. How very sad, the gaming company that you profess to love and support, is the very company you are destroying.
I'm sorry, but this article comes across as a series of excuses and attempts to minimize or ignore all the mistakes Nintendo has made recently. If Nintendo "knows what they're doing", they wouldn't have bet the bank on a gimmick for the Wii U, leading to its failure to thrive on the market (and the need to rush out their next console so soon, the NX). If they knew what they were doing, they also would have: improved their online services; ported many more games to the ...
Let's hope they improve the graphics, they were a bit grainy/ugly in the original game.
NX isn't "still 3 to 4 years from launching", come on. It is most likely coming next year, initial production starts in Fall of this year, with mass production in May/June of next year:

How is the single player gameplay? I heard that the game wasn't great unless you played online or coop. May pick up the retail version when it comes out anyway.
No, the gamepad isn't "literary a game system", since it has no CPU, no GPU, and no RAM. It has zero functionality unless it is within a short distance from the Wii U console, so it can't be taken outside of the house to play, and can't even be very far from the base console.
It is really just a "dumb terminal", something that displays output from a computer system, or (in this case) a gaming console.
It's a shame really; i...
$89 is the cost of repairing the gamepad, not replacing it (you have to send your old one back in to them). Replacment cost is much higher, especially if you don't mail your old one back to them.
The weak CPU/GPU, and meager 2gb of RAM were totally inadequate to support two gamepads. And Nintendo charges $110 for a REFURBISHED gamepad, which illustrates the high cost of manufacturing the gamepad. This is why the Wii U base console is so mediocre; its specs and features were scaled way back, to accommodate the high cost of the gamepad. And this decision made the Wii U unable to compete, this generation.
Welcome to Fantasy Island! You do know that almost nothing on your list will ever happen? Be realistic now, this is Nintendo we're talking about, they'll produce a bare bones product, throw in a gimmick to try to reel people in, and call it a day.
But it's nice to have hope, and dream for what could be, I guess.
While I agree that Nintendo has a history of releasing slightly enhanced hardware, like the "New 3DS", if the NX ends up being a "Wii U 2", a slightly enhanced version of the Wii U, they're going to fail hard. Most gamers just didn't show interest in the Wii U, due to it's mediocre specs and gimmicky gamepad, so if they stick with that formula, they might as well just give up on gaming hardware for good.
That certainly is their usual approach, isn't it? Cheapest possible hardware, cut many features out and keep the specs to a bare minimum, throw in a gimmick, and hope the suckers will buy it . . . worked (for a while) with the Wii, failed miserably with the Wii U.
@ Majin-vegeta - He also has Chronoman2, don't leave that alt account out. That makes FOUR accounts, pretty sad that this is how he has to shill his unpopular opinions.
It's Forbes, known for having poorly-written articles. Better to just ignore that site.
