Most of the hate is about the endings. I haven't gotten anywhere near that far yet though, but the game is really good so far. Tuchanka scene... ohh man.
BUT THE PRIIIIIIIZZZZEEEEE.

Well you're in for a treat, because even the "best" ending is anything but 100% happy from what I've heard.
Seems like Bioware fired Garrus.
*lame calibration joke*
Replying to myself here... But turns out it is going to be patched. To all of 1 people reading this.
I WANT EVERYONE CONCERNED TO READ THIS AS THERE SEEMS TO BE A MISUNDERSTANDING AMONG MANY PEOPLE:
This is not about save files, it's about custom ME1 faces. You can import your save file just fine. For the faces, there will be no fix, you have to recreate your face at the start of ME3 if it's an ME1 face, it's official from Bioware. If you use default-Shepard or recreated your face anyways in ME2, it isn't an issue at all.
The problem is that ME2 introduced facecodes for custom character faces. ME1 didn't, so ME3 can't recognize the face without a facecode. All you have to do is recreate your face while importing to ME3 if you used a custom one from ME1. It's not hard, and it's really not a huge deal.
The sci-fi feel is there just as much as ever. The art style is also much less dreary than ME2 and more in tone with ME1, and I'm only about 5 hours in. Soundtrack is a bit more synthy like ME1 instead of the Holywood-style ME2 music. So far, I've spent less time in combat than exploring and doing dialogue.
Guess I'm not a real gamer. *sobs*
The user reviews are full of crap. There was a flood of them yesterday, before the game was even released, complaining about endings. Yeah.
I don't even get the "worse than ME2 graphics" complaints, they're DEFINITELY better than ME2 in so many ways. I'm playing on PC, so obviously I don't have framerate problems, but the graphics are a good step up.
Anyways, I have the game, And I can say alot of these complaints are poor. It's ...
The reapers are harvesting Earth to create you-know-what, not just destroying it. Basically a much larger scale of what was trying to be done at the end of ME2. THAT takes time.
You'll see throughout the game that the reapers definitely aren't any weaker. Don't expect a happy storyline.
The PC version likely can't be cracked until release date because Origin sends out an authorization key to unlock the game's .exe. The only reason a torrent exists right now is because Origin allowing people to pre-load the game now. So it's basically useless right now. The 360 pirates are actually able to play the game, and that's what this article is dealing with.
I wouldn't bet on it, as ME2 didn't even get one. The best you can probably get the game + From Ashes DLC is when the digital deluxe edition eventually drops to around $30 in a year or so, but that's only for PC.
*A slightly implied, but still not really a spoiler, spoiler warning. Yes, SLIGHTLY IMPLIED spoiler warning. IMO it's safe to read the below.*

There's going to be a pretty bad consequence that may or may not be hard to resolve. I cheated on Ashley for Tali, so I have it coming too.
Getting spoiled honestly sucks.
That... was epic.
If you can only get one, Lair of The Shadow Broker is by far the best. It has a ton of action, set pieces, and dialogue. The level design is better than any of the vanilla ME2 levels. Plus, Liara :D
IMO Overlord kinda drags on too much. And there's really only 2 conversation sections in the whole thing. Alot of time is spent in the Hammerhead vehicle. I do give it credit for having a good ending scene though.
Kasumi - Stolen Memory is pretty good, but the...
From what I've read, the framerate and technical issues in the Earth opening level are still horrendous, BUT it mostly clears up for some reason afterwards. Almost like they didn't have time to optimize the beginning of the game. Sources: IGN's review-in-progress article, and forum posts from the lucky space-edition owners.
This actually has almost nothing to do with the DLC. It's more about a couple of the endings that were leaked by a guy on the Bioware forums over the past 2 days, causing people to send death threats and personal attacks to the Bioware writers because they don't agree with the endings, along with harassing other users... just for liking the endings. Things got really crazy yesterday. The original DLC-announcement outrage is nothing compared to the outrage that just happened.
The MP trophies in this game have an SP alternative for the same trophy. Basically, you have 2 ways of getting some of the trophies. The platinum is 100% achievable through SP only.
Somehow, $49 = bargain bin.
