You're comparing a closed system (the PS3) with an open one (the PC), while a PC will have to be optimized to run on multiple setups (GPUs, CPUs, RAM, HDD, Motherboard, etc), a PS3 game is designed to be played on the PS3. Think about it, a developer will spend about 1 to 2 years to make a game, on one hand you have a team working on the PS3, while on the other hand, you'll have a similar team working on having the game run on multiple systems, you can't expect the same level of optimization....
I wouldn't go as far as saying they deserve it though. They wanted to play AC2 on PC, and were willing to support Ubisoft despite the DRM they used, and the price tag they put. They didn't have to suffer because hackers wanted to show Ubisoft how wrong they were to use such restrictive methods to counter piracy. Ubisoft made a mistake (In my opinion), and Ubisoft alone should have to pay for it, not the honest customers who want to play a game they paid for. Comparing this to losing the inter...
can't we wait to have both in our hands before being the judge? As of now, people have been taking sides, without having any kind of hands-on experience with neither devices. Furthermore, neither are in their final stage, both still being months away from their release to the public. Will Natal have lag? It does now, but it's too soon to say how it will be when it launches. Will the Arc be as responsive and precise as Sony claims? I hope so, but I'm still in a wait and see mode. So I suggest ...
Here's what he actually said :
"This pales in comparison to the red ring issue the 360 had" and he actually said it could take up to a week to solve, not a month.
I know Pachter is wrong on a regular basis, but at the very least, don't lie about what he said in the past.

True or not, the fact is that the iPad, the so-called best way of experiencing the web, will not be supporting Flash. I know most agree that HTML5 is better, but Flash is much more prevalent. And while Flash has its problems, with CPU usage, memory usage and the likes, it still runs on a variety of phones, most notably some HTC ones. I just can't see Jobs explaining how an HTC phone has flash support, while the iPad, a considerably more powerful device, aimed at the netbook crowd, doesn't.
Following this logic, any 3D game on the DS should get a 5 or less in graphics, since the DS is a handheld just like the PSP, but its ability to deliver 3D graphics is quite inferior, with lower resolution textures and a lower polygon count. Would it make sense to give a game like Metroid Prime Hunters a 5 in graphics because it pales in comparison with Final Fantasy Dissidia on the PSP?
When you review a game, you have to take into account the technical limits of the system the...
Graphics are judged with the platform in mind. Obviously a PSP game is not expected to look as good as a PC game, therefor a PC game looking like a PSP game would get a very low score in graphics. The same applies with the Wii and the Ps3/360. Everyone knows the Wii is unable to display HD graphics and is somewhat similar to the original Xbox when it comes to graphics (a tad better though), while both the PS3 and the 360 are much more powerful systems, it only makes sense to judge wii games a...
Just to be sure, everyone realizes this is a multiplatform game right?
Edit : my mistake, saw "also on : PS3" on IGN, so I thought it was a simultaneous release on both platforms.
"that rests their laurels" uh?
If being one of the few independent developer to create its own engine, revolutionizing the way stories are told in FPS and spearheading digital distribution is your definition of "resting on their laurels", well I'd like to have your opinion on 99% of the other game developers, which rely heavily on middleware, among other things. I'm not saying Valve is a perfect developer or anything like that, but they are not relying on past...
Reading is overrated; seeing a flamebait headline on the N4G front page and presuming there's absolutely no context around it is the way to go these days!
Add to that the fact that the developer has picked a side in this "console war" in the past and you really have a winner.
While seeing a portable Xbox would be nice, as competition is always a nice thing, I doubt it will happen.
Nintendo is a game company, they make game systems, so I'm pretty sure the next handheld they make will be a game system first, and probably nothing else.
Sony is an electronic giant, but despite some attempts to make Playstation system more versatile [by that I mean putting non-entertainment related features] with the PSX [the PS2 one] and the GPS [for the PSP ...
And with it, my greatest fears. When it comes to sales and profitability, both the PSP and the PS3 are way behind the DS and the Wii, how will Sony react to the DS2? Will they go for a powerful and somewhat traditional handheld (hopefully they will), or will they try the Nintendo-way, and go for an affordable, somewhat underpowered and "innovative" handheld?
Was the PSP the last handheld of its kind?
Like Vulcan said, current consoles cannot handle a RTS like Total War featuring so many units on screen with a surprisingly high level of details. The Cell might be able to do wonders (mostly when you consider it was released in 2006), but it can't create memory.
Both the PS3 and the X360 have been able to handle CnC3/RA3 nicely, but even then, they were inferior when compared with the PC games (both in graphics, performance and obviously, controls). And the CnC games have never ...
While Gears is not the only game responsible for that, it's largely responsible for the resurgence of the TPS genre, compared to the ever popular FPS one. And while its cover system was mostly the Kill.Switch one, Gears made it popular, and therefor influenced the way most TPS (and even FPS) games are made today.
Obviously, Gears did not invent everything, if anything really, they took things from other games and mixed them together while adding some touches. But in the end, Gea...
Blitz was one fine franchise, but really, Hitz is the one in need of a revival! Plus, unlike the NFL and the MLB, the NHL doesn't have any kind of exclusive contract with a publisher! Comon, make it!
"their limited time with the CnC franchise"? You mean, from Command and Conquer Tiberian Dawn to Command and Conquer Renegade, which includes the likes of Red Alert and Red Alert 2?
The day Westwood closed to become EA Pacific, the Command and Conquer franchise died. With Generals, they removed everything that made the CnC franchise and replaced it with StarCraft-like gameplay set in the modern era. Gone were the cutscenes, the sidebar and well pretty much everything el...
EA changed. At one point they invested in new IPs, published risky projects, provided quality content, pushed for innovation, was willing to publish both hardcore games and casual ones rather than ask its developer to "mainstream" their hardcore offerings. What happened? Great critical reception, low sales.
On the other hand, at the same time, a company called Activision, which used to deliver new experiences (Guitar Hero) and quality franchises (like CoD), became Acti...
I'd like to have both split-screen and bots, like, you know, in the original perfect dark. Funny thing is, the only game since Perfect Dark to feature 4 players split-screen with "controllable" bots, co-op, counter-op and customizable weapon choices in multilayer, will actually be the Perfect Dark remake, atleast on consoles.
I already have them on the DS, and can't wait for the Miles game. I do however wonder why Capcom isn't releasing them on the app store, out of all the PSP/DS games developers are porting to the iPhone, I think this series would work well.
This applies to pretty much everything. I bought my PS3 on launch, same with my 360, my PSP-1000 and my DS. 2-3 years after I buy my PS3, the slim is announced for half the price (w/o BC though) and half the size; around the same time, I bought a new 360 due to reliability issues and HDD (took an elite); I have replaced my DS by a Lite and replaced the latter by a DSi late last year; and for the PSP, I replaced it for a 2000 (which I still own) and a Go, all of these were bought for a lesser ...
