I dunno. I have a feeling gamers will cry foul on the KB/M for FPS games.
Crossplay is a great feature, but doesnt have to be in all Microsofts Pc releases.
Steam is a Pc gamers dream and we can thank Lord Gaben for that. Can you name a better Pc service? Or even console service that is better than the excellent and free Steam service?
Nvidia will have the 1000 Series out by the time this game actually drops.
Valve doesnt dick around. This is a gamers dream. With Facebook at the helm of Oculus, Im not sure if it was meant to be a gaming device, or more of a media peripheral.
In order for the image to be doubled, one image per eye, it really works the piss out of your GPU. I have no idea how Morpheus will get this right. On top of that the FPS is a HUGE factor in mitigating motion sickness.
While the image isnt truly 1080P(its actually a higher fidelity, but a different aspect) your eyes will be fooled.
Since Valve wants VR to hit mainstream, they will have to tailor their Vive to be playable on mid-gpu's.
Yes and yes. This isnt just the future of gaming. Im talking the future of Media. Movies, concerts, sporting events, this VR can really be big.
I dont see this as a fad at all TBH. I played Half Life 2 for over 3 hours on the Rift. An old game with a new life. It was amazing.
Most of the demos I played used a 360 controller flawlessly. People who are worried about peripheral controllers can be appeased.
The Star Wars Battle of Endor demo on the Oculu...
I tried the Oculus for the first time yesterday. It is a massive game-changer. VR is finally here!
Its a year overdue and priced fairly high. Rockstar has nobody to blame but themselves if the Pc numbers tank.
Steam should be the prototype that all the digital distributors strive to be. Steam always adds great new features such as GameStream, Family Sharing, Game Recording, etc. Valve keeps making Steam better and better without a subscription fee! It almost turns the consoles theology on its head.
Valve makes Steam better and better because they genuinely care. They dont do it to extend Hype or sell Consoles. Valve is truly the best at what they do.
No need to stop at Battlefront. Lets get some Rogue Squadron and Jedi Outcast games developed.
It could be the friggen Holo Deck and it wouldnt really mean jack if Microsoft doesnt support it. Thats my point.
I used the Kinect 1.0 religiously in Skyrim and Mass Effect 3, but I have yet to find a reason to use the Kinect 2.0. Its too bad. It was touted quite heavily on the X1 release and yet has been left by the wayside. Sad.
As much as I would love this to flourish, I cant help but think of the cautionary tale that is the Kinect. Heres hoping Microsoft maintains its interest and develops some worthy games for this Unit.
SteamOS and OpenGL are nipping at Microsoft's heels. Im hoping this is the catalyst in the sudden interest in Pc gamers again from the Microsoft camp.
That trailer was fun! Great rendition of the song fire starter.
@Bigpappy
Valve is supposedly dropping the new SteamOS at the GDC along with their new Steam Machines. Gaben may not have to contend with Windows at all.
Microsoft will never rid themselves of Steam. The article was simply stating that there are far more games being purchased on Steam than on Microsofts own digital service, and Microsoft hasnt done anything to change that aspect.
Personally I am a huge Steam fan (as you can tell by my user...
This is actually a very good article if you have the time. The author is sincere when he says Microsoft is trying to get gamers back. Valve has taken over the market and Microsoft has laid back and let it happen.
Im still not sold on streaming Xbox games to Pc nor Vice Versa as they each have their drawbacks. But good on Xbox to try something different, albeit not new.
This article is way off. What I would change is:
1) Improve the battery life
2) Strengthen the Gamepad signal. Make it more mobile. I hate being tethered to the same room as the Wii U console.
3) Make the gamepad lighter and sleeker. Playing Deus Ex really hit home how awkward the gamepad can be for shooters. If they could toe-in the upper corners so it tapers like the 360/PS4/Gamepad Pro it would make it much more comfortable for long sessions.
GDC Cannot get here fast enough. Nvidia is teasing something big "5 years in the making"-methinks it may be the Pascal structure or maybe even producing their own Cell Phones.
PLUS Steam is bringing in the new OpenGL and will be unveiling some Steam Machines that may come with SteamOS.
The VR potential excites me beyond belief and I truly think thats the next evolution in gaming peripherals.
I am still reeling at these screen shots. And this is on WII U?!?! Hands down the best looking game on the platform. Looks like tons of character options (Bikini chick was kind of an odd choice) and the levels look astounding.
Truly a remarkable looking venture. I hope the release date will be kind. There are lots of blockbusters coming out this year.
Nvidia is promising big things, Valve is unleashing VR, SteamOS, OpenSourceGL, and Steambox. My Gawd Im excited!!
