Skyrim will always be the high-water mark for myself when it comes to sword and sorcery. Games being the 'best game ever' will always be subjective. The problem is when people forget that subjective means a personal interpretation. Some people like to push their own preferences on you as if converting you to another religion.
When something is popular, it doesnt mean its good. This isnt a knock on Bloodborne as I have no idea what its like. Im just saying different strok...
Once you put the headset on, you will change your tune...
I've seen demos and games that would blow your mind!! To explain them would devalue the experience. Seeing is believing. VR will be huge and not just for gaming. I'm almost scared at how far the tech has come.
Even the VR desktop and vr player is an amazing experience. You can really choose how large your screen is. Want to watch a movie in your own theater? Or a screen floating in space, VR...
There is an arcade emulator on the Oculus share site. It puts you in a retro arcade with an emulated game of your choice on screen. If you don't like it you can change your surroundings to look like an apartment or theater. VR makes you see everything through new eyes. It's fantastic.
I don't really think this article has any credence whatsoever. If it is true though I will gladly install the free SteamOS in all my pcs except one. I use my rigs for gaming rather than word or excel.
That's really great of them. I wish more games made modding accessible. And it really is win-win for the publisher; modders extend the life of the game therefore increasing sales year after year. I bought skyrim and gta 4 for the mods alone. I beat the piss out of both games on Xbox, but the mods keep it fresh.
They should release this to game works so our beloved modding community can take a run at it.
VR isn't just turning your head to look around. It is an all encompassing experience. It tricks your brain into seeing and feeling depth and range like never before. I can't remember feeling true fear in gaming until I fell to my death in a Rift demo.
@ark
I can only speak from personal experience with the Rift, but it did work the piss out of my 670 and that was 720p-ish and well under 60fps. The experience was incredible, don't get me wrong, but to get 120fps would take a lot of horsepower or sacrifice textures.
And you are absolutely correct. I have no idea how any console will get VR running unless the headset can augment the consoles power.
VR is incredibly taxing on hardware. The textures and draw distances needed for good VR experiences is not easy. Plus you have to roughly double the image(one for each eye). Nintendo hasn't built very strong hardware for a few generations now. Unless this virtual boy is a standalone product or they Nintendo really beefs up the power in their next console, I doubt Nintendo will do VR anytime soon.
This article is purely wild speculation about Nintendo following the VR grail.
I don't know how Shield Console will fare, but my Shield Portable is the best $200 I've ever spent. The best thing about it is playing my Pc/Android catalog on the road. Since I can already plug my shield into the tv for full screen gaming, I really can't see a use for the console version.
I think that GRID gaming has potential as well, depending on their price structure.
Well the fact you cant put your own background picture up on your PS4 is pretty galling. So while you arent forced to buy a theme, they sure dont make it easy to find an alternative.
What did you pay, if you dont mind me asking?
Wait, what? You have to pay for a theme? How do these consoles keep getting away with these practices? $2.99 for a no-name generic theme? Robbery!!
Well dont shoot the messenger, but the scores have ranged from 5/10 -Gamespot to 8/10 - IGN. Thats unfortunate to hear because I was excited for both Mario Party and Kirby.
With Nintendo releases being few and far between, they can't afford many more missteps like Kirby and Mario Party.
Nintendo hasnt been doing so hot lately. They need to start making some serious moves. The Wii U was out a year ahead of X1/Ps4 and never really got any serious sales numbers under their belt.
Another mobile device is not what nintendo needs right now ie) New Nintendo 3ds.
So Nintendo should redouble their efforts if anything because they are heading down a woeful path at the moment.
Take it easy on the Lego series bro. They are deceptively simple but have lots of value. The effort is in the details. ;)
I still play Lego Marvel Superheroes to this day.
Actually the Shield is a perfect portable console for Pc and android users. I use my Shield almost every day as do a few of my friends.
At least the Business Development team is completely honest. They know the customer service is garbage. Doesn't take the BBB to confirm what reddit and twitter has to offer regarding poor service from Steam.
Now that they are honest about the shortcomings, it sounds like they are taking it seriously with a rebuild from the Ground up. Less algorithms and more human touch I hope.
Whoa! That Couchmaster is stupid-expensive but definitely opens my eyes to a new world of Kb/M in the living room.
