That's the problem when you're producing media through a format so instantaneously accessible like the internet. It's not like newspapers or TV where you can take some time to fact-check while printing the paper or editing the video packages. The internet's so fast, so being first is all the more important to journalism outlets.
However, I'm not necessarily happy with that mentality. I think IGN jumped that gun way too far and no apology can erase what the...
Praising Nintendo and hanging with Jack Tretton? Digging Spencer's approach to interacting with other companies and those who are (or were) associated with them.
"Now there are nearly 8 million Playstation 4 owners right now. How many of them do you think will buy the remastered version?"
Those are owners. They already have a PS4. How can you sell a system to someone who already owns it?
"Please understand that there isn't anything available on the Xbox One that can match "A Remastered Version" of one of the greatest games ever made on any console."
Oh please. The Las...
I dunno...this concept art looks a bit less striking to me.
One of my favorite parts of the first Mirror's Edge was the contrast of bright white and brilliant red. It popped and looked awesome. The concept art looks duller and more washed out, like it's trying to look more realistic with its lighting, and losing its creative art design in the process.
However, this is just still art, so my opinion could definitely change whenever we see it in motion. ...
You really don't think that The Last of Us was a success on PS3, do you? The game sold PS3 systems; a huge number of people own the game already. Unless they're getting some PS3-to-PS4 upgrade through Gamestop, it's an HD remake and when's the last time an HD remake caused millions of people to buy a console?
Even if it's in a bundle (which is fine), that's not what sells systems. Ports and remakes can only go so far, and Sony is smart enough to use fu...
Maybe on Gamecube Virtual Console, unless Capcom wants to HD the REmake for Wii U. Then again, Capcom sure does love re-releasing old good games instead of making new good games.
Infamous: Second Son is a system seller. The Order will definitely be a system seller. A remastered PS4 port of a PS3 game that's already sold crazy well on the previous Sony console is not a system seller.
"Forcing a customer to choose between one platform or another by paying a developer to only focus on one platform is an old and, for the most part, an unnecessary practice."
So, from what I understand, the author wants one singular console with all of the games from all of the other consoles, which is not going to happen ever.
"Exclusive games force the consumer to buy all three consoles so that they won't miss a few games from each platfor...
Bubble for you. Couldn't agree more.
Geez, IGN, fact-check your articles. I know you want to break the news first, but things go much smoother when you actually get legitimate information instead of some dumb rumor.
It's more of a problem with re-releases overall. For example, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was a straight-up port that was completely unnecessary, sold only to sap money away from fans of the series who would blindly buy the game again just to argue about resolution.
And I don't know about your lifestyle, but for most of us, convenience is nice. In fact, almost everyone who commented in this submission likes being able to play older games on their newer systems wit...
Oh God, Naruto and Sasuke are disagreeing. Does that mean we'll have twenty episodes of filler before we actually find out who's right about backwards compatibility?
"old games with bad graphics like red dead redemption"
What is wrong with you? That game came out less than five years ago and you're already saying its graphics are "bad." Heaven forbid you get anywhere near Minecraft or a system like the Playstation 1. The only thing you're doing is reinforcing the fallacy of graphics being the only selling point. That attitude is just plain sad.
OT: The big issue is that companies are charging g...
Fair enough. I also agree with your pitch for Gears of War. That really did a lot for the generation.
Yeah, I was gonna say, I think upcoming games and new announcements matter more than an already released game.
If there's one thing I'm concerned about with any of these "best games of last gen" articles, it's that Persona 5, a PS3 game to be released down the road, is likely going to surpass at least a few of them.
The generation is still going, guys. :)
"There is a legitimate rumor..."
Yup...this is unconfirmed, speculative truth...or completely legitimate crap.
It's not about the stare itself. It's about people hearing about the stare on TV and online, therefore giving Mario Kart 8 (the game with the stare in it) huge amounts of publicity and exposure.
Luigi's Death Stare is, in essence, a form of viral marketing.
Only super bad. They haven't made a good album since Meteora.
I thought it was pretty damn good, much better than the last couple years' Microsoft press conferences.
I'm on board with Scalebound.
