This is Tim Shafer we're talking about here and you cannot judge this man's games on surface value as he, to my recollection, has never put out a visually impressive game beyond the art style. Brutal Legend appears to be any metal head's wet dream and has a solid contribution from some of the greatest icons of the music biz.
Still, with that said, I have no urgency to buy it as I have way too much on my plate already, but anyone familiar with Shafer's previous work can expect a ...
The only gripe I had about the demo was the visuals. Slight screen-tearing and low-res textures with a slight blur to everything. I can only imagine the 360 version could be better due to Platinum working on it in-house and not passing the duty off to Sega. Just feels rushed.
As for everything else, the music is beautiful, the presentation and art-style unique, and the action fierce and deep. Splendid design by Kamiya.
This is definitely something I have been waiting for ever since I found out they offered this service for XBOX LIVE Arcade. Especially helpful because the PSN cards are hard to come by in some areas.
My guess is...
Natal will launch at $179.99-$199.99 (I really hope this isn't the case)
PS Sphere wand will be $49.99 and Sphere/Eye bundle at $69.99-$79.99
Oh God yes, I'd love a Shenmue compilation. I never played either game, but I wanted a Dreamcast just to play the first one.
@Jamie
XBL cap is now 2GB I believe.
I'd love some Dreamcast games on the PSN. I'd want:
Shenmue
Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage
Power Stone 1 & 2
Illbleed (looked interesting)
Looks like I'll be buying Demon's Souls, God of War Collection, Uncharted 2 and Dead Space before Christmas.
@lukeb4dunk
I agree, dude. Silent Hill ruined other horror games as far as fright factor is concerned. Jump tactics are not as effective as constant mindfu**.
I personally enjoy the learning curve associated with any new technology, which is why I was very fond of playing Lair on the PS3. Natal seems as though it will open up new types of gaming experiences if it does indeed prove itself; however, how would FPSs work with Natal? Beyond aiming and shooting, how would one be able to move, crouch, jump, et cetera? I guess we'll have to wait and see as my guess is as good as anyone else's.
Those are some amazing screens, and having seen the latest Ferrari 458 gameplay vid, I know those are very close to actual gameplay.
Dude, lately you have been cracking me up. LMAO Your humor is brilliant! Not as brilliant as these GT5 screens, but it'd be hard to top those. :P
This is the first HHG show I've actually watched, usually turned away by his flame-bait titles. He makes a lot of valid points in rebuttal to IGN's article. Good show, HHG. Stay objective and professional, brother. Do it for the love and passion of gaming, not for the hits.
The graphics are amazing, colors bright and vivid and looks very realistic. The sense of speed and the way you could feel the impact of his car slamming against the wall. I cannot wait for direct-feed 1080p vids to come out. Great job, Polyphony!
GT5 is going to include every feature I could want in a racing game, so anything else they choose to add is icing on the cake.
Guys, how can you take MGR seriously, or any troll for that matter? He knows, it, I know it, you know it and every Tom, D!ck, Harry and Jane that has any interest knows that Gran Turismo is the once and future king of console sim racing. MGR is most likely going to buy it and gets off on upsetting you people. lol
Edit:
@Thom - Oh, a good-spirited troll is fun. lol
I know I won't win anyone over by saying this, but... I agree with cliffbo. First Watchdog, then the Turn 10 employee trolling NeoGAF about GT5's "delay" and now this. Sure, I'm a big conspiracy nut (Goddamn Illuminati!) but all of these incidents couldn't be coincidences, could they?
It would be hillarious if it wasn't Microsoft, or the blunder of idiot Chilean marketters but was Nintendo instead! The most friendly, family-oriented gaming company in the world being ...
This is why I both love and respect Sony as an entity in the gaming industry, constantly looking for ways, sometimes controversial as well as unsuccessful, to push the industry forward.
Nah, it's most likely a case of "Sh!+ happens." A couple weeks ago when I tried to log into Home, I noticed an abnormal period of time between clicking the Home icon to the boot-up screen (45-50 seconds), and when I would get into Home I would freeze every time. Deleted Home, reinstalled and the boot took 9 seconds, which is a huge difference, and absolutely no freezing. All of this pre-v1.30.

This link tells you how to access the system's recovery menu, allowing you to restore default file settings, rebuild from a corrupted database or even reinstall your current firmware. As for a straight-up defrag, that option isn't available, however the other options fix most of the problems. I've never tried to set up the HDD to a PC for a defrag, but when I took...
Tell your friends to reinstall Home, and if that doesn't work, to rebuild the database through the maintenance menu. I hope it helps.
The update is nice and gives everything a more interesting look. I noticed the ocean in the Harbour Studio has a more Caribbean clear-blue look to it. I switched to 12GB cache and don't notice a difference, unfortunately.
My Gamestop has ONE copy that an employee has stashed away until his paycheck. Walmart here is its typically useless self while my friend who lives over in the ass end of Iowa has them at their store. Atlus really dropped the ball with this game's launch, which is selling really damn well considering there is no marketting for it.
