Developers DON'T want you to buy used for the very reason you've given, but the practices of many companies since the advent of DLC is self-defeating, giving people a reason to do the exact opposite. We gamers are getting ripped off because companies like Capcom can get away with abusing their privilege to sell DLC and this will continue as long as suckers keep paying for what SHOULD be on the retail disc. Just because we can afford to buy it doesn't mean we should. Suckers are a dime a do...

LOL Fight off used sales? If anything, my dear friend, they are encouraging people to buy used to save money so they can buy such ridiculous DLC (Edit for clarification: Developers do not want you to buy used for obvious reasons, but such self-defeating behaviour encourages it in lieu of a self-fulfilled prophecy.). Very few games this generation have actually been worth the $60 price tag, a price that should have had all of these release-time DLCs in the first place.

The Resident Evil franchise has stood well on its own to this point, inspiring games such as Gears of War. Now it's becoming a joke, forsaking its spiritual roots as a survival horror title for cheap thrills and Western design. I know Western developers are taking the crown this generation, but that's because the East has lost its integrity and identity. Jun Takeuchi or whatever his name is is a terrible designer/producer and has yet to prove anything more than Capcom was FOOLISH to let Mi...

Mmmm, that would be a treat indeed, considering the man who did Sigma, Itagaki's former protegé, did a much better job with the NGB remake than the Itagaki original. Sadly, with all the other games coming out for the PS3, it would be a long time before I could buy NGS2. For a console in dead-last in worldwide sales, a relatively high price and a constant daily serving of FUD, Sony seems to have gained its fair share of developer support, even including BioWare. It's only a matter of t...

Having been with SQUARESOFT since the beginning (before they sprouted a malignant tumor and became Square-Enix), I'm disgusted with what has become of them. Remake and spin-off one after the other shows how creatively bankrupt the company has become save the few good teams left (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and Vagrant Story/Tactics) and their reluctance to support the PlayStation 3 has alienated a good portion of their fanbase, and those fans who support them with the 360 have been given n...

Konami must have had a difficult time selling this SKU to Western territories due to the extortionist price as well as the hassle of ordering it. The US model does not have backwards compatibility, I'm afraid, but my girlfriend was one of those lucky few to procure not only the Japanese Gunmetal LE console with backwards compatibility but also a pair of LE 7.1 wireless headphones given to only a few people who purchased it in Japan.

BrotherNick, sales figures do not necessarily equal quality. McDonald's serves billions daily but it is deep-fried dogsh!+. Now, Nintendo isn't as terrible as McDonald's in their respective fields but they share the same lack of innovation and will to improve. The Wii is selling, but too few quality titles back it and what Nintendo offers is the same thing they've essentially been pushing since the 2D era. As I've said, Sony could have done the same, taking no risks and have been as succe...

Nintendo has been on the decline for years. Nintendo used to be a lean, mean killing machine but has become rather fat due to stagnant development, bringing little innovation to their games. Sony has gone from a wee babe to a rather large, respectable adult, maturing through its experimentation. Because of this, Sony has exceeded the once great Nintendo, not due to necessity because they could have stayed with what made the PS2 a success, but chose to take a big risk and their hardship mad...

We could be so lucky to experience the glory days of the Super Nintendo again, from any company. My happiest gaming memories came from the 2D era, an era Nintendo has never come close to repeating or exceeding. Really, no one has, but Sony does a great job trying to push the industry forward. The PlayStation lured me away from Nintendo and has yet to give me a reason to regret it 2 generations later.

I'd say Sony met Nintendo last generation with the PS2 and has exceeded them in both quality and innovation, and doing so without a mascot in the vain of Master Chief to Microsoft or Mario/Link/Samus/etc. for Nintendo. Nintendo has stayed rather conservative with their main franchises, never straying from the same formula, plots, gameplay (solid it may be), and slapping their mascots on any basic game, such as a rather average arcade sports title and expecting it to sell, which it does to pe...

Look at the two of you, immediately associating these two videos, one for PS3 and the Xbox 360, with fanboyism. Any psychologist would tell you that for your immediate assumption derived from an otherwise neutral and objective thing reveals yourselves to be fanboys. Why can't it be two entertaining videos of something that no one short of the crazy or privileged would do? Sure, it isn't news, but with the ocean of blogs, opinion pieces and other garbage barely related to gaming being flood...

Last game I bought from Gamestop was LittleBigPlanet. Preordered Killzone 2 from Amazon for $54.99 ($5 off), no tax, free shipping AND I got some freaking SWEET avatar clothing for Home. I've saved a lot of money shopping with them. The Gamestop we have in my podunk town replaced Rhino Games which was a far greater store than they'll ever be. Lifetime store warranty on all games and a 1-week "Like-New" return policy on games. I miss that store...

I agree. Jimmy Fallon was never funny on SNL and one of the most unprofessional, self-absorbed "comedians" I've ever experienced. So what if he has a love for video games and plans to have developers on his show? I'm sure every other second of his show will be intolerable crap.

In other news: Dane Cook is not funny and very overated. I guess if you forget to take your medication and pick up a microphone you can be a comedian. Well, I'm sorry, that only works for CH...

Just the UE3 being the UE3. Very few games made with this dinosaur play without the occasional freezing or framerate hiccups. I used to experience freezing quite often with Gears of War, back when I had one of the original Pro and Elite SKUs. I wouldn't necessarily blame the 360, even though when it gets hot it behaves like my girlfriend during that time of the month (I kid my girlfriend, she's not THAT bad!), I'd blame that P.O.S. game engine! Though it is unproven at the moment, Square ...

MLB: The Show is THE premiere franchise for console baseball. I've never experienced "wonky" controls for pitching or batting, and while I haven't played the full retail version, this alleged issue didn't creep up in the demo, which is an early build and I wouldn't expect the final build to have them either. Though, I do admit analog stick or even SIXAXIS hitting/pitching would be a nice addition, but its exclusion shouldn't be a reason to judge a product. Too many reviews are ta...

How is this game free exactly? UE3 licensing fees + production and developmental costs = $$$. But who's money? Is this from some generous donor or is it funded by the US Army (I'm asking because I'm genuinely interested to know who's paying for it)? If this multi-million project is funded by the US Army, who is ultimately funded by tax-payer money, then that means we, the tax-payers, are paying for it. Money that would be much better suited going into national health-care, education or o...

I'm more interested in online co-op level making, which was supposed to be a week-one patch, as well direct-from-HDD image importing. Just seems to me they want to tackle everything other than the feature I want.

The only part of your mostly ignorant and fanboyish rant, Ocelot, is that Sony needs a standard mic, especially for team-based games. Thankfully, any BT/USB mic works. As for you saying PSN fails, you really haven't a clue what you're talking about. If no one played PSN, games such as Warhawk and SOCOM wouldn't thrive. For a FREE service with comparable features to XBL, as well as being Sony's first attempt at such a network and only being around for a couple years while XBL has been here...

They've released so few quality titles in recent years, such as Valkyria Chronicles, the Phantasy Star games, Virtua Fighter 4 and recently Yakuza 3 while the rest of them, especially anything with Sonic slapped on it, have been mediocre games that can't sell. Why they'd cancel an Obsidian project (consider them the Tony Scott to BioWare's Ridley Scott) yet keep those godawful games is beyond me. At least they've the good sense to publish titles for Platinum Games, Inc. as Shinji Mikami, Ka...
