First, Sony probably WILL send at least half of their systems to the U.S.-- The 360 is doing the best here compared to other markets, so they don't want to just concede this holiday to Microsoft. Also, the attach rate (# of games and accesories purchased) in the U.S. is higher that in other territories, so since Sony LOSES money on the system, but makes money on the games and accessories, they will want to sell the most systems here. And finally, with their blu-ray agenda, there is higher ma...
I am a store manager for Gamestop, and as I have posted elsewhere, our company has told us on the store level that we WILL NOT have PS3 kiosks this year. Sony says it is to deliver more systems to the consumer, I personally think that having a PS3 kiosk next to a 360 kiosk won't really show the PS3's advantages at this early stage of its release. And Honestly, Sony doesn't need demo kiosks to sell the PS3 this Christmas. People will buy it because it is the "new" system, they wil...
it works better for arcade titles that the analog stick of the regular controller. Anyone else tried to play Pac-Man or Galaga? It's damn near impossible with the regular controller-- the d-pad is sh1t and the sticks dont't transition from one direction to the other fast enough.
Will shout how the add-on HDD drive makes the 360 the same price as the PS3. They forget to mention that IT IS OPTIONAL. I, for one, will wait to get a HD drive, just to see how the whole BLu-Ray, HD DVD thing turns out, and to hear reports of how good HD DVD movies look played on it through a 360. See, I have the luxury of doing this, people who buy the PS3 (either version) do not. So if HD DVD gets the most market share, PS3 owners are screwed. If the Blu-ray drives used in the PS3 are...
IS that working in the retail side of this industry, I can tell you three things: Nintendo's hardware tends to last the longest/have the fewest problems, Sony's hardware tends to have the MOST problems and they have the WORST customer service, and Microsoft has a few problems, but the BEST customer service. For example, I have had people who bought 360's bring them back because something was wrong, but after Microsoft's warranty was up. They didn't purchase our extended one, so I told them...
we get about 5-10 360's a week, and sell... 5 to 10. Somedays we have 5 sitting in back, somedays none. A lot of people are buying now because 1. they heard the price won't go down this year and 2. they heard the price of the PS3 and realize it will be as imposible to find this holiday as 360's were last christmas.
IT is a well known fact that preparing and bug-testing a demo can add months onto a games develpment cycle. Epic and Microsoft have already stated that in order to get Gears of War out on time (before the PS3) they will NOT be able to do a demo. Fine by me. Some games benefit from a demo, like Fight Night, for others it would be impossible (Oblivion), and for others it might actually hurt the game. Is that the case for Gears of War? I doubt it-- it did win numerous awards as best console...
Hateraid. HATERAID. The new energy drink from Japan, brought to you by Sony.... oh, laughing so hard it hurts...
that Microsoft did world-wide focus testing on the look of the 360, the feel of its controllers, etc. They LISTENED to the criticisms of the original xbox, and got peoples input on their new system. Sony, apparently, just makes what they feel like makeing and then TELL people it is awesome and looks good. I guarantee you that if Sony did focus testing on the lack of rumble (instead of HAVING to leave it out because they lost their lawsuit to Immersion) the majority of games would have dema...
That exclusives and a huge number of games only tell a small part of the story. All systems will have Madden, for example, and millions of people buy the new Madden EVERY year (especially since EA has the exclusive rights and fu#%ed other developers out of making football games, but that's a whole 'nother story)even if it is only SLIGHTLY better that the one the year before. Ripping on the PS3 for haveing a ton of sequels I sorta understand, but its John Q. Lameassgamer that buys this stuff...
I work as a manager at Gamestop, and we have been told that Sony has "No plans, now or in the immediate future" to make demo units for stores. THEY say it is because the systems will be in such high demand, they can't afford to "waste" working systems on demo units. Funny, Microsoft had demo units out BEFORE their launch, even knowing they would be short on systems world-wide. I think Sony is afraid to have demo units out, running their launch titles next to 360 Demo un...
All three systems will be out, available to whoever wants to buy them for whatever their current price is, and will have demo units side-by-side in stores playing the current "wow" factor game for each specific system. Then, all this speculation and hupe will be dead and gone and the real "battle" if, you will, is on. Even then, it will take YEARS for some questions to be answered. Was releasing their system first the advantage Microsoft though/hoped/needed it to be? W...
"Badwagon" "descided"? Perhaps you are and average, uneducated adult. If people are waiting for the PS3, the severe shortage this year and into next will make some diehard Sony Playstation fans go the 360 route, since a lot of good games will be on both systems and the good PS3 exclusives are a ways off. Waiting forever for a system you can barely afford and then can't find to buy when it does come out has a way of making people reconsider their options. Couple that with...
I have seen a comparison of the two formats, HD DVD wins hands down. Sony will try hard to cover up this fact, but people who care know that HD DVD is better, for half the price. Period. In the future, Blu-Ray will catch up in quality, but never SURPASS HD DVD, so even then, at half the price, HD DVD is the winner.
an "Athelite?" MORON
A made up story, and was obviously written by someone who has about a third-grade education. Why bother? Are you that upset a crappy wrestling game isn't going to be on the PS3 for one year? Come on-- RIIIIIIDGEEEE RAAAAACCCCEEEERRR!! and killing giant crabs-- what more do you need?
Stay in school, son.
If you read the article, the full version referenced in the first post, you realize that the excerpt here is COMPLETELY MISLEADING. See, both sides can do it. I am a manager at Gamestop, and the one thing that I can tell you is that "Because of doubts relating to the launch of the Playstation 3 and the probability that stock will be EXTREMLY limited, we are NOT planning any pre-order/promotional strategy for the Playstation 3 at this time. We do, however, have deals in place with soft...
Microsoft settled with Immersion for far less than they were asking in the lawsuit, and bought a sizeable piece of Immersion stock, to boot. So when Sony finally loses their appeal in THEIR case with Immersion, they will basically have to pay money to.... Microsoft. Genius!
Microsoft has, from day one, said "choice." Later, they will release a 1080p cable so if you choose to buy an expensive, cutting-edge HD-TV (which less that 10% of the people buying a new game system have) you can dispay at that resolution-- but it is up to you. Same with the camera, the HD DVD drive, the 2-sku launch, etc. They let the consumer decide; Sony tries to decide for you. They copy MS and Nintendo's ideas, then claim these companies are copying them. Bullsh1t. The 36...
