However, Sony's showing at E3 was weak, even they admit that, and this was their first chance to set things right with the gaming community. I think that Sony skipped out because Europe is not a major battleground for them in this whole Blu-Ray vs HD DVD thing-- not as many HD TV's as in the US and Japan, etc., so they are keeping their focus on those two areas. IF I'm right, then expect Sony to ship the majority of their consoles to the US and Japan as well....

Has been confirmed other places. Their line is that it just won't make a NOTICEABLE difference in performance, and was done to keep the PS3 running cooler, basically. So in addition to the pushing back of specs, it sounds to me like the PS3 has its own heat problems. Which is to be expected, high tech electronics generate a lot of heat. I hope they don't still have the power pak INSIDE the thing-- then they will have a real hard time keeping it cool enough....

For buying an over-rated, untested machine, and when IT breaks, Sony customer service will just say "Welcom3 Chang3" and hang up on you.

Sony was SUED in a clas-action lawsuit because of defective drives in certain PS2's that they refused to fix, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. Sony lost the case, and I got a free game out of the deal. Didn't make up for the fact that I had to buy a new PS2, but the fact is they refused to admit they were wrong, even after they were sued and lost. Microsoft, to my knowledge, has never been sued and lost over a defective product. Both MS and Sony were sued (along with Nintendo) by ...

Sony knows how rich they would be if Blu-Ray "wins", that is why they are focused on the PS3 as a movie player, not a game machine. Seriously-- Sony should still have some clout when it comes to exclusives, etc., but instead they seem to be loseing them hand over fist-- and not just because the 360 is already established and easier to program for-- but because Sony doesn't care and isn't willing to put their money behind exclusives any more. They are spending the money instead on ...

They only call it a computer to avoid taxes. If you are right then what is my Sony Vaio laptop? An oversized portable DVD player? What about my Sony Vaio desktop, is it still a computer without blu-ray?

Welcome spare change, because after the PS3 flops, that's all Sony shareholders will have to live on. I wonder if Kaz and Ken are men enough to fall on their own swords after they run one of the biggest and most successful electronics companies into the ground. They will probably say thats what they will do, then do something else... they are habitual liars, after all...

You need to pull your head our of your a$$. Sony is in trouble... did you read the article, or was it too long with too many big words for you? Sony is the new Sega. Deal with it.

Saints Row is out today for the 360. Average review scores right around 9 out of 10. Sure, it is a rip-off of GTA, but one that "improves on the gameplay in many areas- mission structure, the map, the targeting controls, the fun-factor. And, for a first of this type of game, online multiplayer. The 4 modes, with up to 12 players, 6 on each team, will give you hours of unparalelled fun." Better graphics, smoother play, and online. Oh, yeah, and xbox 360 exclusive...

You will care if it is downgraded to a PS2- then in addition to unproven tech, Blu-Ray capabilities that most people do not need, and a conglomoration of copied ideas and out-right lies, the PS3 will also have a drive that sh1ts out within a couple months, Sony will refuse to admit there is a problem, and you will now own a $5-600.00 paperweight!!!!

Landfill fillers,
Doorstops,
melted hunks of plastic,
nail in Sony's coffin,
slaves to Microsoft and Nintendo,
hari-kari victims (Kaz and Phil),
victims of their own lies,
pwned by their copy-cat ways.

I work at a Gamestop, got my system at launch, no problems. We have sold HUNDREDS of 360's since launch, NO ONE has reported permanent problems to us-- some moved the systems and scratched discs, some had their system temporarily overhead because they had it (and the powerpak) sitting on the carpet (?!?!?!) but no 3-rings of death... so it is NOT as bad as some people will have you think...

Is too busy trying to fix their blu-ray fu@# up (terrible video quality, outdated Mpeg-2 compression, serious problems manufacturing dual-layer discs, loseing exclusive titles, etc.) to give a sh1t about gamers in Europe or elsewhere. They can hardly refuse to admit now that the PS3 is more about Blu-Ray market penetration to them than anything else. Gamers? They will buy it just because it says Playstation....

Will be making enough and shipping enough consoles to meet demand. It is a VERY high-tech machine, with its Blu-Ray drive, even more so than the 360. But brand-new tech tends to have bugs, glitches, and unforseen problems. Look what Microsoft had to deal with-- trouble getting chips, shipping problems, and overheating problems (most of which were the result of dumb consumers not giving the system and/or power pack enough room for ventilation, imho) The first round of HD-DVD players and BL...

Cell: with 8 spe's, one that is not used, and one that is taken up soley by the operation system, allows the PS3 to run 6 threaded operations at once. Xbox 360: 3 cores, running dual threads, means it can run 6 threaded operations at once. PS3 might run its 6 threads a little quicker, but with its built-in memory on the Graphics Chip, Xbox 360 has a slight advantage in this area. Most games release for both systems will look, run, and play identically.

The inflamatory nature of this battle makes objectivity the exception, not the rule. Both Microsoft and Sony have inflated the capabilities of their machines, lied (by ommision) about exclusive titles, and spun things as best they can in their direction. Here are two facts, however, that are unarguable: the most important thing to Microsoft was to release their system first, world-wide, and capitalize on the success of xbox live. The most important thing to Sony is to push Blu-Ray as the ...

If you notice in the article, the Samsung Blu-ray player makes more Profit than HD-DVD. Why is this significant? Because the price of BLu-ray drives COULD be cheaper, at a lower profit margin, right? BUT,instead, Sony is allowing Big-Box retailers like Circuit City and Best Buy to make more money on Blu-ray, so that is the format they are pushing. EVEN THOUGH when both formats were out at the same time (so the first week or so that BLu-ray was available) some stores had Blu-Ray and HD-DVD ...

When it first came out on N64. Payed almost $100.00 for it, but after the first time I shot a bad guy in the neck and he clutched his spewing anatomy and gurgled to death as he fell, I almost jumped out of my chair. Even with the fogging, repeated textures, etc. I loved that game, and my anticipation for Turok 2 (which ran in hi-res with the expansion pack!) was not surpased until Halo 2's massive hype machine. Turok 2 was a great game, although not revolutionary any more like the first on...

Is that Microsoft is also focused on delivering the BEST of each type of game out there... Halo 3 should be the BEST FPS ever when it releases, although I'm sure this will be debated no matter what. Forza 2 looks to be the best Sim Racing example on any console, as Forza 1 outdid Gran Turismo in almost every area. Likewise, Project Gotham 3 and the upcoming Test Drive Unlimited offer two different, but awesome, takes on the Arcady Racer market. Then look at RPG's -- between games like Obli...

Surprise! A head Sony exec predicts PS3 wins next-gen battle! No sh1t! Look between the lines, though. Not in production yet. Launch titles not ready... to be announced, anyway. Allocations for regions not set. Well, time will tell. I have a feeling that around Thanksgiving, Sony execs will be either very quiet, or shouting about how they "sold out" in all regions. Well, if they only ship 100,000 working consoles to each region, no wonder they sold out. I bet 50,000 of them wi...
