It is nice for sony to make all these games. The fact remains that how long can it last before the proverbial bubble burst? Games are great but if they do not sell enough to even break even, then why bother? MS did that with the first Xbox. Look at where it got them? Look at the massive third party support and look where it got the ps2? So more games is good, but when money isn't as free as it was back then, how can you sustain? I know a majority of n4g'ers probably live with ...
You have to factor in sales and success. If not, how are they able to further support it if they lose money or make none? So yes sales is important. I also agree that variety is important as well. Take a look at the original Xbox. Loved that system but without the sales, look at what happened to that platform...
I personally use AMD and Nvidia. ATI just seems to run a bit warm, ala Xenos in X360. Great cards, don't get me wrong. I just tend to lean towards the Green...
Yes I know Intel has better cpu's but I majority do web surfing and gaming and would rather dump the extra moolah into a snazzy video card. Doesn't matter how impressive your cpu is, you can't properly game without a decent gpu! Wish some console fanboys recognized this...
Wow! I don't care if the handheld gave you a bj. There is no justifying a 50 pricetag. Just like there is no justification in rrod. You shouldn't let companies get away with this kind of crap because once you do, it will be forever too late. Just look at sopa, that's what happens when we stand and fight together.
How is that off topic talking about resolution? Isn't that what the whole article is about? I was just stating that I have a 5 year old xps with higher resolutions than console which a. is on topic and true and actually higher than HDTV's. How is that trolling? Real technology is awlways increasing at an alarming rate while consoles are locked in for at least 5 years. In 5 years a lot can happen.
More like Activision is a part of Vivendi Universal that owns Blizzard. Even as big as Activision is, they are still small potatoes compared to the likes of Comcast and General Electric which owns NBC Universal which owns Vivendi Universal which owns Acti/Blizz.
I have a 5+ year old Dell XPS with a 15" monitor that has higher resolution than consoles.
1920x1200.
I know that there aren't many exclusives for X360 Now. Maybe that is ramping up support for the Next Box. Who knows. Think of it this way. How did ps2 become so successful? Was it because it was a well made system? No. I've been through 45 ps2's. Over 90 percent the dvd player part went bad. Then talk about ps1 games no longer working. I still had ps2 because of the games. Not first party games but third party games.
Now think of this business strategy....
Ahem... How about sony slamming Nintendo on the DS saying the psp was the best and to get people out of the "gaming ghetto". We all know how this story turns out. Kind of like Thunderbird and Corvette.
How about ken k saying that people would want to work extra hours to get the ps3. Clearly not everyone he imagined thought like he did.
There are a bunch of others but I'll leave it there.
Blizzard is owned by Vivendi Universal which is owned by NBC Universal which is owned by Comcast and GE. More likely that Blizzard owns Activision.
It shouldn't have been on playstation either. See how easy that was?! When it went on playstation is when they concentrated on graphics as majority. Then all these games that came after, especially this gen has been about graphics. Except for one: Earth Defense Force 2017 for Xbox 360. Graphics were polished Xbox 1 graphics but dang is that game fun!
Have a similar story with a friend of mine but that game was Air force Delta Storm for Xbox. Game saved his life.
bubbles vulcan.
It doesn't matter if you believe what i have said but it is true. Just look at a PC with a cheapo low end dual core CPU paired with a powerful GPU. Sure the GPU will be bottlenecked, but it'll still obliterate another PC with a top end CPU and a sub par GPU in games.
I have been saying that for many years. Just because you go to wlamart and buy a cheap pc and think you can play high end games at all, that is foolish and plainly just w...
How is a rsx superior tech!!! It is a stripped down geforce 7800gtx with only 256 mb of VRAM. Wake up people. When you play a video game how often is the processor the main contributing factor? How come I can't buy a 499 computer with 6 gb of ram and a quad core processor and play any decent game out there? Why can't I play Crysis, Neverwinter Nights 2, The Witcher, The Witcher 2, etc....
How come if i slap a low wattage geforce gt240 or upgrade psu and video car...
Wow! Pot calling kettle black... Talk about hypocrisy. How about sony's music deals and publishing deals? Remember when Deep Blue and a bunch of the Korean studios stated it was tough to work with sony because they took all the risk and not sony?
sony will fund up to half of game dev and regardless if it is successful or not, you have to pay sony back. Oh and sony owns the IP as well. Goes both ways. And what Small Dev is going to take advantage of the ps3? The com...
@oner I think you should revisit facts again. X360 uses eDRAM and has more than 5 times the memory bandwith than the ps3.
http://groups.google.com/gr...
Yes but look at this way. How many early adopters of ps3 just used it as blu-ray? Goes both ways.
at kiki...whatever. Best hardware, let's check..
blu-ray - more storage less speed... - subjective
cell - single core cpu with limited cache - outdated
256 mb ram - outdated
7800gtx w/256 Vram - outdated
wireless-g - outdated
2 usb 2.0 ports - outdated
still listing games for 480i on back of game - outdated
Really trying to grasp your idea on best hardware because it is really difficult to do
Just because a ...
How is it that everyone thinks MS will abandon the X360? You are so ill-informed. They used off the shelf parts for the original xbox and had no control over production. nVidia, (which powers the ps3 btw), no longer made the video card in the xbox and it would have costed a buttload of money. MS OWNS the chipset and graphics inside the X360. They can find another maker for the chips. That is why nVidia and ATI FOUGHT for the X360 contract. ATI eventually won because MS wanted to OWN th...
Lost Odyssey says hi. That game is one big story!
