How many p3's were bought just for bluray? In software sales MS kicks the crap out of sony. Also how many ps3's were bought by US Airforce? Just sayin...

NVIDIA is my graphics card of choice. Went from a 8600gt oc to 9600gt to 9800gtx to gtx275 to gtx470 to gtx570 superclocked. Can they be more mature, sure but look at the numbers. They are posting record profits while amd is a sinking ship. If ea and ubisoft and the whole tablet and mobile division are right in their claims, this could be the end of amd if consoles don't do as well this coming generation. They are bleeding fast and arm is rapidly taking the mobile market share.

landog has a point. Don't know what MS is doing and it may be in their best interest to make an entertainment cable box than a pc games console. Problem most people will face is that either you will spend 400+ on a ps4 or spend another 100 bucks and get a laptop with similar specs, at least the eight core and ddr3 laptop ram is dirt cheap. Maybe not the 7970m but at least a gtx630m which is more than suited to play most games. People just don't have the time to sit down and invest...

The only thing that keeps my hopes up is the comment AMD made on the next Xbox to be able to Avatar like graphics. That includes ray tracing so you can't do that on mobile chips. Since AMD is supplying both the Xbox and ps, that goes to show you which one they are bragging about. If that were the case then the next Xbox would have an Eight Core Opteron cpu at 2.1 to 2.4 ghz with 512k each core and a unified 4-8 mb cache. Then if the next gen goes completely gimp and mobile, I will sti...

I wouldn't mind having blocked games as long as they lower the price. Not all games are triple a and without manufacture costs, ala DD, no game should be more than 40 bucks. I am thinking skipping Nexgen altogether and just game on PC.

Lost Odyssey for me. Some of the dream sequences and when someone found their mother. Great game!

Even my 2 year old PC would run circles around Nexgen. Really disappointed.

Amd came out and stated the next Xbox will be able to achieve Avatar like graphics, that is ray tracing. They never said that for the next playstation. Amd is supposed to be running the guts in both Xbox and playstation. You can't do ray tracing on laptop specs, ps4. Maybe with an opteron CPU by amd. Regardless, if both have laptop specs, I'll sit out nexgen and just buy an a10 laptop and emulate ps4 games natively.

NVidia is right. By the time the ps4 ships, AMD will already have that mobile processor in laptops. The 7970m was already in macs over a year ago today and by December, 2 years old! If MS releases laptop specs, I will definitely skip next gen. Don't buy into the hype and bs! AMD hasn't been the same since the advent of multi-core. Such a shame too because they kicked some serious booty with their Athlon FX series. Talk to anyone who knows a little about computers, you mention A...

How is laptop specs going to outpower a gaming PC? My friends Mac has a 7970m and he bought it over a year ago! Wow! The fanboyism is just downright silly. It has gotten to a point where it is just ridiculous. Just saying that a Cell CPU with a PowerPC core at 3.2ghz with 6 spe's clocked at 3.2 ghz each and then a LAPTOP 8 core AMD MOBILE cpu clocked at 1.6ghz. DON"T BUY THE HYPE!

I prefer NVidia, but Radeon is good as well. I think that most PC games will shoot for NVidia as their default but multi-platform will opt for amd. Especially since Havok is the physics engine and the hardware in consoles. Either which way I am sure that NVidia will deliver.

Does anyone know anything about PC architecture? GDDR5 is vastly different from DDR3/4. DDR you can use for more than just graphics hence the G in GDDR. Graphics memory is cheap. You can get a sub 100 dollar video card with enough GDDR. Different mechanics. sony has allocated ALL their ram for graphics so ai and multi-tasking wont be as good as traditional ram. It would be like taking the ram out of pretty much any video card out and using that as your ram. Why does anyone think that...

The moment sony makes the ps4 a pc, they will have to contend with the ever-rapid growing pc tech market meaning that it might have a life expectancy of 2-3 years. Make that less with laptop internals....

Match a 1.6 ghz eight core? really? An ivy bridge quad core would run circles around that prissy cpu ALREADY found in LAPTOPS. Laptops! Serious? GDDR5 is not the same as DDR5. GDDR5 is found in MOST video cards at the 2gb variety. nVidia's newest flagship has 6 GB GDDR5 just for the video card itself!

This was a comment made by someone else:

I've been a PS fan since the beginning, had PS1/2 and 3. I got up at 5 am to get the PS3 the very first day it came out. I got a PSP and thank God I didn't get the vita although I was tempted. I'm on my early 40s making enough money to get the game I please when I please and I can buy the next gen console without having to save for months in advance or trying to justify myself why I need it... overall I'm the embodiment...

Wouldn't be hard to do with an Intel cpu. I mean cheap gddr5 ram meant for video cards and an AMD cpu? Their video cards are good but their cpu's are still a mile behind Intel's...An Ivy bridge 3 ghz quad core would blow anything AMD has to offer. This is coming from someone who has the Phenom2 1100t be.

GDDR is different than DDR. Not a big shocker as GDDR5 is cheaper. found in most video cards in the 2GB variety. nVidia's new flagship will have 6 just on video card. That doesn't even include the 16 gb SYSTEM DDR3-2100 RAM that most people use anyway. BTW having ps4 just like a pc rocks! Finally get some better ports and who knows, an uncharted or two.

4743d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

How much gddr5 do you have? Most newer video cards have 2 GB gddr5. By the time the ps4 comes out, high speed ddr4 will be the norm and will have high bw. Remember it will be ddr4 and not gddr5. Gddr is limited where as ddr is not.

Amy i the only one who thinks nexgen will suck? Aside from the 8 GB RAM, kudos MS, the rest really does suck. When they first mentioned the word AMD, I knew right then it is not going to be a powerhouse. Don't get me wrong, I have AMD gaming machines but compared to other offerings, it is weaker. That is a fact. Of course using AMD means cheaper price which is good. Using laptop parts? In a console? Are you kidding? Cmon people and wake up and smell the bs!!!
