They did the same thing with Zune. They combined Zune sales with all media services and said it was successful. But, they didn't report the actual sales numbers and profits of Zune specifically. You can move product categories around and take advantage of it without illegally misleading.

Also. Revenue and profit are two different things.

One way or another, most of Microsoft's unsuccessful products were merged with ...

Revenue and profit are two different things.
That is 3.9b for the entire XBox division. Not Live, which is the topic at hand.

Captain Obvious. We know businesses want money. But, some businesses have higher moral ground for their products and consumer experience.

Sony didn't lie. They waited too long to publically make a statement on what was going on. MS didn't lie. They made a bad decision and changed their mind in response to feedback and sales. There's a difference. Not that they don't lie or mislead consistently anyways.

It may be unprofessional. But, it's the truth. It's not biased because of some agenda. It's biased because they are legitimately unhappy with XBox this generation.

Most outlets were unfairly biased towards PS3 due to 360 hype. They thought it's what consumers wanted to hear. It was too toxic last generation to stray too far from public opinion in the west. The same thing still tends to happen.

If PSN is down then people make a big deal. ...

You're literally making that up. Plural vs singular. You said games. Multiple games are selling better on XBox because it's dry? If it worked like that then the console wouldn't be dry. Give us a few that launched at the same time. More than one example because that's called cherry picking. No one targets the lower population. That's like defying sales logic. They only do so because of a contract.

MS has more than enough money to buy them out if they wished,

"If they wished".

Did you read? They did wish. They gave them an offer. BlueHole didn't want it. They are now worth far more than the previous offer.

XBox and Microsoft are split. They cooperate, but why the hell do you and so many think that they will just keep spending money on XBox that hasn't been earned? It's a failing platform that lost a lot of mo...

But, they have to post articles to pretend like some hidden negative thing has come up. If not for bias, it's just because it generates hits, and most of the time are from a small amateur site from clueless reviewers attempting to spark attention seeking conversation.

When there is already a system in place for hit boxes and normal combat, with QTE's commonly being a bonus way to handle situations, it actually requires a lot more animation work along with balancing when and how they should be triggered. Because, they want to give more ways to defeat somebody than just hitting or shooting them repeatedly. Sorry, that you don't have variety in your available gameplay options.

No one is clinging onto this pitiful argument except fo...

Microsoft also only talks of consoles sold to retailers.

Sony and Nintendo report consoles sold to actual consumers.

When I was working in retail, I saw pallets of XBox's pour in every quarter just to appease shareholders while their month to month was not that great. We got a great discount every time, whereas PlayStation was always consistently stocked every week or so.

Their studios are spending too much money for what they are putting out. Way too much. Sony and Nintendo studios put out far bigger hits with far more attention to detail and better quality for far less money.

And, when they talk about money "spent on exclusives" they factor in money spent just to advertise those games. Microsoft is notorious for blending all sorts of items into other budgets. They said Zune was successful but the numbers they showed were for all...

Maybe, you're the lucky one. Ever thought about that?

Many people with high end rigs have stuttering, pop ins, screen tearing, visual glitches, and various other gameplay elements being buggy in general.

Then, there is the network optimization. It doesn't sync everyone properly. Sometimes you are stuck with more lag than you should be.

To top that off, it is very unoptimized. For how bland the graphics are it runs quite poorly....

Bluehole turned down the offer when they were worth far less and PUBG was in early stages Now they are one of the most profitable studios and are worth so much that there is no way they would sell.

Stop assuming MS is able to buy their way out of everything. The mindset that they aren't and haven't been doomed just fuels the consumers to buy them out in their place. Make them earn their sales. Don't just give it to them because you're hopeful.

@JEECE

That is entirely different. The point of the Souls games is, despite being tough, it is able to be memorized and learned. The enemies are respawned when you rest at a bonfire. Entirely different from what you are talking about. Just because enemies pop back up doesn't mean it's the same circumstance.

Hard drive space is still pretty hard to keep available. HDD's haven't dropped in price in years, other than the occasional sale. SSD's have been lowering but that's about it.

I think the earliest we would have a totally disc-less console would be the PS7. Depending on how Internet requirements and things like net neutrality play out.

Back in the day.. This site, GameTrailers, and other sites were like a XBox hive mind. Sometimes you wouldn't get downvoted for pointing out its obvious long standing flaws. But, most of the time you would instantly be voted spam, downvoted, and struggle to keep bubbles. Most of the childish name calling and other antics were from the same hardcore fans with lack of excuse for their exclusives not being released consistently, and it wasn't until 201...

"based on how many active users they think they'll have"

Yeeaahh. Except, MS bragged about Azure being "scalable" so that it would handle situations like this. Basically, having more servers kick on so it won't be struggling. Supposedly, "fixing" issues like this. Obviously, that doesn't end up happening. I remember Halo 3 basically shutting down XBL. All the hype about it being flawless or never having hick ups or downtime is just ...
