Why NOT release a prologue version?

The designers get people to pay them to help beta test their game, and the hardcore fans of your franchise get to play the game early if they think it's worth the cost.

Everyone wins.

Awesome. Everyone should experience the greatness that is Bioshock, regardless of their platform(s) of choice.

I wouldn't be shocked if they also release a special "Director's Cut" of Bioshock for the PS3 shortly before Bioshock 2 comes out.

I have to admit, though, I'm curious how exactly a Wii version will work.

Maybe they mean it will impress people who only play WoW and nothing else? Or at least haven't seen a new game (or the sun) in a few years?

I love the idea of achievements - a "checklist" of things to do in every game and a rewarding "ding" when you do them. Sort of like the "ding" feeling MMOs players get when they level, except actually fun.

What I don't care for is Gamerscore. I think it promotes people harvesting easy games for easy achievements. I could care less what the dumb number next to my name is - I just enjoy getting as many achievements in a game as possible. It helps...

If true, that makes me wonder if the original price was just a "feeler" to see how it would go over.

I was just talking to a friend about this Net Neutrality crap, because McCain is against government regulation of it.

Any canidate who opposes government regulation of Net Neutrality will never, ever get my vote. In general, I tend to want LESS government regulation, but in this case, if the government DOESN'T step in, then my rights as an internet user will be trampled.

I'll never understand why people think free, unregulated capitalism is a good thing. Corpor...

The big benefit of Rock Band over Guitar Hero is that Rock Band is a far superior party/co-op game because it offers 4 player co-op rather than just 2 player co-op, and a greater variety of instruments for people to play.

Rock Band also has the big benefit of much better DLC than Guitar Hero.

I've personally witnessed Rock Band convince casual gamers - who laughed at Guitar Hero - to buy both Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Never underestimate the powe...

I'm even worse. I usually rent games on GameFly, and then buy them if I like them for the much smaller used cost. Though I guess GameFly had to buy the games at some point, so at least the game companies get that initial purchase.

Sorry, but as long as game companies keep releasing 8-12 hour games for 60 bucks, I'll keep buying used.

Games with enough bang for my buck, either through addictive multiplayer, replay value, a huge open world, or good old-fashioned l...

What exactly does the PS3 have to do with this article?

Second post into a thread about a 360-specific article whose only mention of Sony is that "they are doing the same thing" and we're already talking about the PS3?

Is it possible to have an N4G article that doesn't devolve into a console war fest? Just once? Pretty please?

My female roommate is really into achievements on the 360, which I find fascinating because she isn't really much of a gamer.

Honestly, I think achievements are an awesome way of extending a game's replayability. I admit, I'm addicted to them. I don't actually care for the Gamerscore part of it (especially because it's really easy to get certain high-point achievements), just unlocking the achievements and having a little note of "did that" in my Gamer Tag is enough...

I think a majority of PS2 owners - the ones who waited years to get a PS2, and bought it when it was under $200 (I think many even waited til it was $149 and less) - are waiting for BOTH the PS3 and the 360 to come down in price, because honestly, both of them are probably too expensive for a true "casual" gamer.

Even the "cheapest" SKU of both systems is over $250. GTA4 will spur many PS2 owners to jump into the current generation of consoles. I just thin...

I guarantee MGS4 will NOT render GTA4 irrelevant.

MGS4 is a popular series, but its popularity is nothing compared to GTA.

I've never liked the assumption that all current PS2 owners are PS3 owners-waiting-to-happen. Many gamers aren't loyal to a particular console brand so much as they are a certain gaming series. When Final Fantasy switched over to Playstation, Nintendo lost a big chunk of people.

Many of the 120 million PS2 owners didn't jump on the PS2 wagon until the price was $199 or lower. I don't really see those same people getting a $400 system just for GTA4.

Keep in min...

Why on Earth was this article submitted? How is this news? A list of exclusive games isn't news.

You know, I'm looking forward to GTA4 at a borderline-obscene level.

But really, does every other article on N4G need to be about GTA4 until release day? Especially when they're all just the same thing over and over again? I don't care if Generic Gaming News Site 13 plans to get GTA4 for the 360 while Generic Gaming News Site 21 wants to get it for the PS3.

Everyone will have their own reasons for getting whichever version they get. Let's wait until the end of...

You know what sucks? Not the fact that this post clearly belongs in the Open Zone - I'm used to sad fanboys sneaking in and posting this crap every once in awhile.

What sucks is that this guy has 9 agrees and 0 disagrees for posting a completely nonsensical ramble. Has N4G really sunk so low that this vomit of a post constitutes a legitimate point in the eyes of its members?

At least I'll take a little bit of comfort in the fact he only has 1 bubble.

Really? I have Comcast and I get tons of stuff in HD - ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, TNT, History, Discovery, HBO, Starz, and now even Sci-Fi.

Uh...what?

I assume you meant buying the Core 360, since the other SKUs all come with those standard, except the "cord for charging".

You know, I saw the 120 Hz thing, and to be honest, it freaked me out. We both felt that it made movies lose their "filmlike" quality. Everything looked like it was shot using video cameras ala behind-the-scenes footage.

One of my roommates agreed with me, the other didn't, so clearly it's a personal taste love/hate thing.
