Does that mean you're a PS3 fanboy, being your typical self?
Tell me, how are you better than these "XBox Fanboys" you despise so?
Keep in mind, that North America alone is a huge market, and even if Sony wins everywhere else, companies will continue to make 360 games just to sell them to the NA userbase.
There was no price drop in North America. The price drop was in Europe, and this is NA numbers only.
The problem is, Sony can't be satisfied with a "draw".
If they want to catch up and eventually beat the 360 is North America, then the PS3 has to consistently outsell it by more than just a few thousand.
So far, the PS3 is approaching the same level of sales as the 360, but isn't actually closing the cap - which is what is really important.
I think it shows that a lot of the people are picking up a PS3 primarily as a Blu-ray player but continue to buy multiplatform games for the 360.
When the PS3 exclusives start rolling out, then the NPD numbers (for software at least) will likely look quite a bit different.
Edit @1.5 Below:
I didn't say most people were buying a PS3 as a Blu-ray player, just that a lot of people were, which helps the PS3's numbers. I figure many people are picking one up ...
NPD numbers are in. 360 outsold the PS3 by 5000 units in March.
Guess you shouldn't believe every analyst you read and repeat their predictions as fact, eh?
@Belows:
Yeah, I guess I was only considering NA, sorry. The PS3 is obviously winning the international battle, and has been for some time (not just Jan, Feb, and March) so I assumed he was talking about NA.
No, I wasn't using VG Chartz. The actual NPD numbers are in. Sorry t...
PS3 and 360 within a few thousand of each other, just as many predicted.
Despite the cries of doomsayers and fanboys, the 360's not down yet - not be a longshot.
Glad to see both consoles going strong. A hotter console war means more competition and thus better games for everyone.
God of War deserved to do better. Oh well.
Overall, what an amazing month. It's great news for all gamers that video game software and hardware continue...
Sorry, but I can't agree that the PS2 DRE issue is as bad as the RRoD.
The DRE issue was awful, but the RRoD is/was a catastrophe.
I've played MGS1 and MGS2. I don't agree. Sorry.
MGS1 was very good. MGS2 was not.
A complex story is not necessarily a good story. Neither is needlessly replacing your main character with someone from a Final Fantasy game.
As I said above - a complex story is not necessarily a good story.
Congratulations!
You are the poster of the 50 billionth article on GTA4 this month.
You have the won the right to post the first of the 500 "GTA4 PS3 vs. 360 video!!!" articles that will end up on N4G.
GTA San Andreas? Really? I preferred Vice City's story, but then maybe that was just the 80's nostalgia.
Is it really fair to compare Halo's story to SMG or Tetris? Not saying Halo has the greatest story ever - or evena good one - but comparing it to a game of falling blocks or "rescue the damn princess for the dozenth time" is a bit much.
My favorite games stories not listed in the article:
X-Com (simple, but very good execution)
...
Let's assume your theory is true.
How would keeping people from talking about the splitscreen feature make Microsoft less angry? Like no one from Microsoft will EVER find out about the feature if none of the big name sites or magazines talk about it?
Rockstar isn't stupid enough to try and hide any feature before release. If there were multiplayer splitscreen on the PS3, then the OPM review would've mentioned it. This is just a ridiculous rumor started by on...
Personal opinions stated as fact FTW.
You do know the control setup for this GTA is fairly different than the previous GTAs, right? And that the firing/targeting system uses the triggers, right? And that most people find the 360 triggers superior to the PS3 triggers, right?
A "number of sources"? Please list ONE reliable source that says there's multiplayer splitscreen on the PS3.
Even the source of the rumor, the fake GTA4 review, has now retracted it.
Heh, one person posts a self-admittedly fake review of GTA4 that claims the PS3 version has split-screen multiplayer (not even mentioned in the PSM review) and suddenly everyone thinks it's true.
The internet *rules*.
Disagree all you want, fanboys. Doesn't change the facts. PS3 has no local splitscreen. Get over it.
Edit @Below:
It's Calvin and Hobbes making faces...why? What does it look like?
Interesting that the PS3 version requires an install, but whatever. No big deal. Though I'm sure the fanboys will be saying "LOL I CAN PLAY GTA4 5 MINUTES BEFORE YOU LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!" I am more curious how much space the install takes. After all, some PS3 owners only have 20 gigs, though they can at least upgrade the drive if they need to.
I wonder if the install time on the PS3 will help with texture pop-in and pedestrian/car traffic vs. the 360 version, or if it'...
Per the "article" (a single post on the NeoGAF forum), it is optional.
That "first review" also said the PS3 version had split-screen co-op and the 360 version doesn't. I think we'd have heard that from someone else by now, if it were true - that's a pretty significant feature difference.
Wow, swing and a miss, Pachter. Swing and a miss.
Better luck next month with that whole "wild guess" thing.
