You'll notice this convenient fact is left out of the article. They'd much rather assume it's Rockstar winking and nodding to PS3 fans that they made the right decision. Apparently, they're so incredibly insecure with their purchase that they need to think the creators of the game are on their side.

Even though the game is amazing on BOTH systems.

It's interesting, if nothing else, but this article immediately reveals it's bias with:

"However, me and every other PS3 GTA IV player will take this a sign we choose the right version to play."

Why is everyone so concerned with finding the "right" version instead of just enjoying this incredible game? Why is EVERYTHING about the damn console war?

As #5 says below, the actual New York City Fire Department is labeled FDNY. See ...

Yeah, I noticed something very similar. It's absurd.

But in a good way.

Screw the haters, this game is amazing. Spend 5 or 10 hours with it, and it's clear how much love went into it.

The people who are disappointed are mostly graphic whores who expected something that looked like Uncharted but played in an open world, people who didn't like changes from past GTA games, and people who are just bitter that it wasn't a system exclusive.

Funny, I checked the article and there's no reference to GTA anywhere in it.

I can't help but assume this comment is entirely off-topic and has no place here.

Edit: Aw, you added "MGS4 will be GOTY for me." to your comment to make it seem more on-topic. How cute.

This would be awesome. I never did quite finish it back when I had it for the SNES.

I love how, not only did you get 4 disagrees (as of now), but you have more disagrees than agrees.

Apparently people know what you're doing better than you do!

You need a big TV to see the difference between 720p and 1080p.

Also, very few if any games actually run natively at 1080p, so even if you had a big enough TV, there probably wouldn't be a noticeable difference unless a game runs at 1080p.

This is a list of PS3 titles that run natively at 1080p. Honestly not sure if it's up to date, though.

This is because the developers didn't specifically write the game to support anything higher than 720p.

The 360 is designed to automatically upscale any game to any resolution using a dedicated hardware scaler chip.

The PS3 also has a scaler, but it has to be used by the game itself. The hardware won't automatically do it.

Most early PS3 games had this same problem. It's still sort of a crapshoot as to whether or not a particular PS3 game will su...

In other news, GTA4 also drove 360 sales.

And probably even some HDTV sales.

Imagine that? A big entertainment software release results in big sales of the entertainment hardware needed to run it!

Thanks for the heads-up, Sony!

Technically, he's not wrong.

Every game has a basic "native resolution". Pixel counters have found the basic native resolution for GTA4 is 720p for the 360 and 640p for the PS3.

However, ALL games this generation run at either 720p, 1080i, or 1080p using upscaling. There is no such thing as a 640p TV, or a 604p TV, or whatever resolution the pixel counters claim a game runs at. Most modern HDTV's will automatically upscale to their native resolution ...

Shouldn't this be called "How to run any PS3 game at 1080p"?

Also, shouldn't it really be in the tip section instead of a news article?

Also, isn't it obvious the author just added "GTA4" to the description in order to generate more hits for this article?

I like my ridiculous-of-a-deal $2200 open-box Mitsubishi 73 inch 1080P DLP (the 73734), but then at the normal price of $3300 it's not really in the same price category as these.

I'd be interested to compare the picture quality with the 52-inch LED-based LCD, though.

While I have no qualms with calling the original poster on his fanboy crap, your use of "crapbox" proves you're no less of a fanboy, so maybe you should join him in the Open Zone?

After all, the Open Zone isn't just for XBOX fanboys.

I'll be out seeing Iron Man between GTA4 sessions, I'm sure.

Wasn't there a similar situation with Halo 3 and some movie? Maybe it was a TV show.

Well that's stupid.

Over 10 years since the last numbered Street Fighter sequel, and 17 years (God I'm old) since Street Fighter 2, and they don't even develop it internally?

Swell.

I guess it depends on what you disliked about the series before. I know some people who never liked GTA before are getting into GTA4 because of the changes.

I had trouble trying to decide if I should report this comment as Spam, or Off Topic. It was a hard choice, since it clearly fit both options so very well.

PS -

If FF13 is amazing, then it will speak for itself. Just like GTA4 has, despise some detractors.

Like it or not, I highly doubt a JRPG will ever outsell big-name franchises. Even a JRPG like Final Fantasy.

Why do you really care, in the end? I'm sure FF13 will make enoug...

When did anyone say GTA4 was going to kill the PS3? And why do you keep starting new comment threads instead of replying to people?
