It works, in some ways.
I bought a 360 around the time the PS3 was due to come out, due to the outrageous initial price of the PS3, and the fact I wanted an HD gaming system.
I was tempted to grab the MGS4 bundle I saw at Best Buy a couple weeks ago, but I didn't, because I realized nearly every game I wanted would ALSO be on the 360.
There are more PS3 exclusives in the long-run, sure, but I'd rather wait until they're out and (hopefully) the pric...
"In your own home"? This has to do with internet privacy. There hasn't been privacy on the internet for YEARS, sadly.
Name one company that DOES care about your privacy - even Google does something very similar.
Not defending Microsoft, or the practice in general, but this is hardly limited to just MS.
If a single news article could get posted on N4G without someone trying to make it about the console war.
Uh...people aren't allowed to disagree with an opinion?
"It's always Xbox fans.
It is sad to think what a awesome console generation this would have been without the corrosive effect of Microsoft and its tiny group of mostly US gamers."
If any 360 fan posted this about Sony fans, they would have 60 disagrees, 2 agrees, would lose 3 bubbles, and would have about 14 replies demanding they "post that crap in the open zone".
Why is this behavior OK for Sony fans at N4G but not for Micros...
Most consoles eventually get these portable screens.
Apparently they sell enough to be worth making, but I've never known anyone who got one.
Heh, Morgan, I'm not sure Darkiewonder realizes you're a PS3 fan...
"It's GRIN folks, and therein lies the problem. In this case it isn't the 360, it isn't the PS3, it's GRIN."
But...but...I thought everything at N4G could be boiled down to PS3 vs. 360!!
I think you responded to the wrong thread, but I'll go ahead and respond here.
It would take that long for the PS3 to overtake the 360 in North America, if the PS3 outsold the 360 at a rate of 100k a month. 200k a month would still take them 30 months, or 2.5 years. I'm not talking about worldwide sales - worldwide, there's no question the PS3 will overtake the 360 very, very soon.
Right now, all Microsoft can really do is hope to hold off Sony in NA. That's m...
"yeah I remember those days PERFECTLY, wanna know what RUINED gaming they way it used to be?? MS and their fanboys."
What a load of crap. Seriously. I can't even believe I'm wasting a post in response to this.
Things would've been like this in the SNES vs. Genesis era, if the internet had been around. Nintendo and Sega fanboys would've LOVED to parade around monthly sales numbers, if that sort of data had been widely available. It wasn't.

No, it just doesn't make logic sense for them to spend the R&D on a brand new interface for a console they're just going to get rid of. May as well save the money and just develop it for the 720 of it's coming out "in a year or two", right?
Can you name a single console that used the same interface as the console before it, not counting the 16-bit systems that didn't have ANY?
There's really no indication MS is getting ready to phase out the 360. ...
Only a minority of developers are running out of space on the 360. How will Microsoft accomodate them? I imagine multiple discs combined with a mandatory install.
I hate the idea of mandatory installs on console games, but it's definately better than releasing a new console in a year or two.
As 4.3 said, and I said earlier in the thread, Microsoft is not revamping their entire console interface just to toss it away in 2 years.
And also I said ear...
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the Wii will outsell the 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, and DS.
Mark my words.
I think it's funny how much stock people are putting into a 20k difference.
It doesn't tell me people are choosing the PS3 as their "HD console". It tells me people are choosing one or the other about evenly. I don't even find sales differences interesting until they approach the 50k mark.
How long will it take the PS3 to have a higher install base than the 360 in North America at this rate? Even if the PS3 outsells the 360 by 100k a month, that's som...
They rushed the 360 out so it could get a head-start on the PS3. Hence all the ridiculous, unacceptable hardware flaws.
The PS4 isn't coming out for another 4 or 5 years at a minimum, so there's no reason for Microsoft to rush a new console out, either.
They can sit pretty with their software sales for awhile. The 360 will own North America for some time to come.
Or you could, you know, own both?
And then enjoy the exclusives for both consoles?
Thus putting gaming and FUN before console-based loyalty to a soulless corporation?
Just throwing that out there as an idea.
Is there anyone left who remembers when gaming was about what games are fun and not about sales figures and Metacritic scores and all this horsecrap?
I mean yeah, fanboyism and console loyalty have been around since the Nin...
There is no way that will happen. They're planning to drastically revamp the 360's interface this Fall. You don't do that with a console you're planning to mothball.
Software sales alone ensure the 360 will be around another 3 or 4 years at a minimum. The PS3 will eventually outsell the 360 due to worldwide sales, but I think the 360 will hold off the PS3 in North America for another 2 or 3 years, if not for this entire generation.
Can I see a dramatic difference between DVD and VHS without an HDTV? Yes.
Can I see a dramatic difference between DVD and Blu-Ray without an HDTV?
No, not really.
That is why Blu-Ray won't take off the same way DVDs did for awhile yet.
Seriously, what part of "an advantage" don't you understand?
I know Sony fans don't want to admit it, but the 360 does have some advantages over the PS3. And the PS3 has some over the 360. Shocking news, I know.
Those "advantages" over the competition are how consumers choose one over the other. If the 360 didn't have any advantages over the PS3, then it'd be selling across the world like it is in Japan. Clearly it's not, so clearly it has...
